I'm tired of giving sound advice to people on here...... No-one follows it through. Chaff this is easy to fix; get a soaked tea towel, a piece of rope and obviously the basic training aid everyone should have.... A cable with a plug on one end and splayed wires on the other. Wait until the dog is asleep, jump the fuucker, wrap the wet towel around it's head (leave nose exposed), tie it off around the neck, stick the splayed wires in there, put a piece of food near the exposed nose, shout NO! then light the wee darling up. 30 seconds should be enough or when it shits itself6 points

what might that be ? I am amazed that this even got mentioned to be fair, a dog the chap knows is in pain, growling when you try to treat it is normal, as for taking a dogs food away?it was a reflex action nothing more. no need to over react.6 points

So I have some fields that I mainly shoot rabbits on, on numerous occasions I’ve bumped into a fox on here, ever since they combined it’s been about, it’s a clever old thing always in a position where a shots not possible or it know that I’m there before I know it’s about, so I thought I’d set up my evil bay 23 quid camera with a bit of the moggy’s food in the bottom field 75 ish yards away from my pigeon hide, I’ll bait it over the next few days and see if I can tempt it into the crosshairs ?4 points

at one time my son worked sonic with a good hounds man on here ,he took a nice few foxes ,the only thing he lacked was biting power ,but he stayed till the job was done ,i dont do many foxes but when they pop up i expect a dog to take em down ,i prefer a bit of variety these days ,go for a stroll and see what i can find ,its the one thing i rarely do is pass a dog on ,i have done with one a few years ago knowing he was a good keen mutt on a variety of stuff and to this day hes still doing great things for his owner ,but i knew he had a life long home before i sent him..4 points

Im not an fac shooter mark and i can shoot a spring rifle as good as any one but let me tell you its not as easy to hit some thing at 100+yrds with an fac rifle as you think pcp or bullet the lads still have to put the time in to practice I got a shock the first time i tried it mind . As for pushing spring rifles in every ones face as the best way to shoot and that any one can shoot a pcp well it was you that pushes the hw100 and how good it is but you still need to practice to achieve perfection and accuracy my point is Mark you have to practice no matt3 points

Benefit of the doubt yes, but if kids are involved I wouldn’t give it a chance. I’d keep a dog like that outdoors, especially if you had any doubts.3 points

Doesn't sound like it's fear based aggression from the injury. Sounds like food based aggression. Something remedied by excessively controlling the dogs feeding. Give, remove, give, remove, cover over with your hand, tell the dog to leave part way through, just reinforcing your control in the dogs head and ending it's possessiveness. I don't like the trait at all. I don't like fear based aggression either but it's more understandable and acceptable (to a degree) imo. If a dog's in pain and panicking (when being given first aid) lashing out is understandable and expected. There's a po3 points

Depression is a very complex subject and there are situations which can have a huge bearing on the matter, for example, being clinically depressed building up to and going through a divorce which is completely overcome when remarrying or living with a new partner. Where in the country also seems to make a difference so it is not a cut and dried subject. I am a big believer in talking to the people that matter in a given situation and a privately arranged meeting with the firearms officer is a step in the right direction. Phil3 points

My Collie has just come into season I’m considering putting my dog Dan over her they would make excellent mooching ferreting dogs and would be more than capable of catching rabbits on the lamp. Regards Collie John3 points

I would say you and few others on here that need a dedicated lurcher for Fox’s are in the minority most just run rabbits despite what they may say on here as you just don’t come across Fox’s every day and with that in mind I stand by what I say lots of good dogs are passed on because of there owners will never be dog men.2 points

After the thumbs up from the keeper we made our way out this morning, as normal we got there just before day break, sorting the kit out and heading off into the windswept fellside, on my approach I could see plenty of rabbits heading for the rock so I took a detour and climbed out above them hopping to put a few to ground, as I went up the rabbits went up, I went higher, the rabbits went higher, I couldn’t win once on the tops they just disappeared into the vast expanse of heather, after about of a walk Nell worked her way down the fell side onto a large Warren, where she was marking at a few2 points

Alsone to pull out one example of a black bear getting up and blame it on the calibre is a little stupid, and if I am honest does make you sound a bit inexperienced. A misplaced shot can happen with any calibre, and even a perfectly placed shot with a bullet designed for the job can sometimes take longer than you would expect to finish the animal. I am in Canada (Alberta) and on a number of BC, Alberta, and Sask and USA hunting forums, and can assure you both the 308 and 30-06 are very well thought of as cartridges for black bear. So is the 300win mag, and a host of others as well, but black b2 points
