  1. After an MRI Scan it has been revealed that my prostate cancer ends no further treatment. After X-rays on my shoulder(following a fall whilst setting some crayfish traps where I maybe should not have been) they say that mild osteoarthritis is my problem. Heard the cuckoo again. Saw my first rabbit in ages which was a black un. Heard that rabbit population on one of my old perms is on the mend, East Midlands Airport. Her in doors still loves me. What a day. Jok.

  3. Im sure it was a southern fella had lucky as a pup. The buzz I get when my dog catches is because we’re a team, if I bought someone else’s dog & caught a hare with it I wouldn’t feel nothing, just the same as watching a strangers dog on a video

  9. Yes, the one in the book was back when he was a young lad in Yorkshire around a hundred years ago. I checked and it was a dog called Jim which was half "hunt terrier" half whippet. It was bred by a local chap called Luke and he sold then partly trained. The training involved whacking them with his cap if they did anything wrong so, whenever Jack Hargreaves doffed his cap at a passer by, Jim would race over to his heel for fear of being told off.?

  12. When Prince Harry was going through a difficult time in his teens he spent a lot of time out with hunt terrier men. Not one of those men or the young farmers betrayed his trust. Most were on £150 quid a week and could really of done with the 10 grand the newspapers would of given them.... Wheres Harry now when those men are thrown from their jobs. The people of the East end were massive supporters of England and the Royal family.....now the East end of London looks like my local town of Bolton....its more like down town Somalia. What about some support for those communities which have be

  14. First night with c50 on hmr. Was back at the lambing field just before dark. The picture through the c50 at dusk is fantastic. No other NV I have looked through will pick up light like that without ir. First fox came out just before dark and was chest shot about 75 yards. Spent another 2 hours there played various different calls. But only had one more come in. I have to admit this one was pilot error and miss? The scope is great after dark really coming into its own. But for me the most surprising was last light. Controls were easy to navigate and quick response. Great field o

  24. From what I'm told....Everywhere is flooded with green, has been for months, prices have plummeted 95/100 an Oz on full boxes...you can't give it away-theres folks crawling out from everywhere looking to make sales?...smart people are bright enough to have the Albanians etc growing decent strains instead of that nasty commercial pond weed ammo and stardog they churn out? The better stuff always comes from the smaller operations not those on the gravy train?

  32. Hand on heart the best hare killing dog i have ever seen belonged to a old hippy i knew, she lived in a buss and most on here would have laughed at her and her dog.The dog was a beddy grey type looking thing with a cocked ear, it just knew when a hare was in a field and used some amazing to watch field craft to catch them.I watched it stalk hares, flush and just turn before the hares did and they just seemed to run into it's mouth and it had some pace to get one under pressure out in the open and all done on Wiltshire flint and chalk. Got caught by land owners etc with her a few times and she ju

  33. Just think how many useful dogs like her there was back then before everything got bred for appearance. I think I've said it before on here but I bet some of them black and tan mongrels from when I was a kid that were latch key mutts would have bred some proper lurchers, streetwise mongrels that knew how to get a feed or a jump.

  34. Meanwhile, back on the lettuce patrol tonight. Hartley and his mates were giving the newly planted lettuce a bashing. We had to show willing and go and thin them out a bit. Anyone with a choked shotgun can have it bored out for thirty pounds a barrel. I have had three AYAs done and they are just fine using super steel. I have also been buying rifle bullets and storing them in case the lead replacement is crap.?

  37. Been out and about the last few days and don’t think I’ve seen a bit of bunting or flag flying. Think there were only a handful of street parties organised, mostly in Glasgow. I know that’ll offend some on here, and maybe provoke the usual verbal disdain for us Scots from the usual quarters, but there is genuinely very little visible evidence that anyone up here gives a toss. Nothing ‘anti’…, just apathy.

  42. Well I never got my buck, only seen one doe, I suppose it was a little early not tending to see much emerging from the wood before last light, as I walked the bottom gutter towards the wood I glimpsed a flash of ginger along the bottom of the field, it was a fox no more than 40 yards walking towards me, as I seen it, it seen me, turned tail and ran, not even giving me enough time to mount the rifle Now I know different shooters like different types of shooting, but the ultimate over all other shooting for me is daylight fox shooting, especially on a warm bright evening, I love it and can s
