I had a phone call from the farmer today telling me the a fox had killed one of the lamps and would I get my arse up there and do something about it, so I rang my mate to come with me, I had to bribe him with first shot because the weather was terrible, so off we went, when we got there it was windy and pouring down but on we went, after about 20 minutes he got his chance and fair play to the lad he took the dog at 307 yards, my go next and 45 minutes later I got to take a vixen at a modest 87 yards, so cold and wet we called it a night ?8 points

The person I admire the most would be my dad who got me into terriers and the outdoor lifestyle. His knowledge of wildlife is extremely good and he would talk to people and help them when asked7 points

Very sad.Saw them many time during the 90s and early 2000s.From the Raindance raves and in front of about 300 pilled up ravers at a small venue in 92 through to 80,000 crowds at Reading and Glastonbury festivals and my favourites were the 2 times i saw them at Brixton Academy.Never failed to entertain to the max.R.I.P Keith a true showman5 points

I've said this on this site a few times. But there are plenty of dogs, bred directly from hancocks, up and down the country that are taking allsorts, pre ban lol, on a very regular basis. I'll leave all the 'legendary' bollox for others to say. Biggest reasaon why most people fail with collie crosses, and then blame the dog, is the fact that they are too impatient to allow a dog to mature mentally. Trust me mate, most collie crosses are, if they are allowed to mature, are just as tough as most other types, and most of them will work day in day out, night in and night out, without too ma5 points

I think bird was right not a Labrador . I’ve found the it’s a Belgium mastiff. They was used for pulling milk carts in the late 19th and early 20th century4 points

maybe a sever leg break in a deep ravine in a remote forest type scenario.where you are in pure agony and cant climb out in mid winter. with full blown hypothermia setting in then just fade away.huddled around a failing zippo flame.as a fox get's scent and sit's nearby waiting to chew your frozen face off. or just a plain old heart attack.im not that fussed.3 points

No need for any calibre wars, I rate my .243 as a brilliant long range fox calibre with the light V-Max, reality is I very rarely need to take foxes in the next county. Most of my foxes are rimfire, then .223 if required, each to their own!3 points

I agree , if you want one centrefire , a 243 is a good choice , and if you start loading your own you can get a lot out of it .3 points

Go for it, at the risk of starting a caliber war on here again take a look at .243 this is only my opinion but it’s a bit more of a versatile round, I might bump into you at the shooting show ?3 points

Shame, no age to die. RIP The Fat of The Land was a tremendous album. This thread must’ve been up literally within seconds of the news breaking. That’s either really impressive, fcukin sad, or rather sinister and suspicious depending on how you want to look at it ?3 points

Fair play , hell of a distance. I too had a call out at the free range poultry farm I look after . I went Saturday and shot one , but I saw another , so I said I’d be back Sunday night. Unfortunately storm Freya hit with some seriously strong winds . I tried to set up in my usual position but I was being knocked by the sudden gusts and I thought if I do see it the chances are I will miss , then I saw a piece of corrugated tin fly past and I thought f@@k this for a game of soldiers, I’m off home . Out again tonight .3 points
