  1. We headed towards Glastonbury,...it was wet and muddy as per usual, the rain was non-stop and the wind was icy cold. No exciting bands on offer, no sex, drugs or rock, and roll, just the promise of a new life for my old pal's lurcher dog. Lost my dear friend Robin Tarrant to Cancer at Xmas,..it was emotional. I visited him in the Hospice, it was a shock to the system and one which I was not prepared for,..however, it had to be done... Foolishly, and without really thinking, I asked him, 'Is there anything that you want me to do?" The cancer was in his throat, he

  2. not put a hunting post up for a while so thought id do one as had a full kit change over! Monday is pretty much nailed on as me and my mates rat night... so tonight we've had a couple of hours at the dairy on the rats due to it being so cold ive started using the hw 100 as the 14shot mag count is way better than changing the wild cat every 8 shots when you cant feel your fingers, ive been using the jsb express pellets that Mitch likes for hunting for the first time and there brilliant on the rats... basically anything between 10& 40yrd falls over with a crosshair shot..

  3. A spaniel would offer no fight at all, none. It'd be like bringing a digging dog on by letting it kill rabbits in a shed. f**k all sense in it. Most out and out terrierman I know don't even bother letting pups kill rats 'to bring them on'! That dont mean some clueless little dick Asian isn't letting his boy tyson f**k other folks pets, but I don't believe in the bait dog thing generally. Just pathetic excuses for dog men that revel in their dog bullying. As has been said, cocker pups are going for 700 each easy and it's generally cockers getting knocked.

  4. A dog fighter is hated more than any individual except a peado. Why would they risk blowing their, and others, cover by breaking and entering and stealing any dogs never mind pedigrees. You would not in any way risk being nicked for it. I had this argument on a Facebook page....there was dozens of people getting so angry with me, they were convinced this bait dog bullshit was fact, but could offer no proof, it's just accepted as truth now. One mong was convinced spaniels were the popular bait dog as lurchers and terriers were trained killers so could fight back.....im sure it was a coun

  6. There is enough literature about pitdogs and dogfighting on the internet and in books. If you want to know how the dogs are started and schooled you're probably better off reading that rather than what some newspaper journalist has dreamed up or listening to what someone read on an RSPCA page on Facebook. If you listened to everyone who's so called rescue dog had been used for bait there must be half a dozen dogfighting gangs in every town in the uk

  11. Had a fella round today from off here, I wanted him to have a try with one of my guns to see how he liked it. Well it certainly wasn't the best day for it with the wind gusting between 10 and 30mph, but what the hell, he would get a feel for the gun if not the accuracy I knew she could do. After a very hasty zero, I let him punch a few targets, but I was jealous, I love her, her, happens to be a daystate huntsman regal in .22, so I nabbed it back for a quick shoot, and considering I've not shot it for a year or so, it's never been touched, serviced or tuned, straight out the

  20. After a bit of paper punching over the weekend with the r10, I kind of made the decision that I need a little more weight than 8.44grn as anyone who knows Anglesey will know it's a gusty, blustery lump of rock! My first hw100 LOVED bis mags so I grabbed a tin today and without a pull through set about zeroing. What a waste of fu#@*ng time that was!!!......i might have got a 2 inch group if I was lucky at 32 yards so back indoors, mod off and set about a pull through of the barrel. Very shitty indeed, so mod back on and give it a leading in again. For the sake of consistency I pu

Thought f**k work let's go ferreting, a few calls and a decent little team was put together, White Van Man and my mate Micky plus their dogs, a bucket full of ferrets, all the nets you may (or probably may not) need... and we were on! ive said tons of times on here we don't take it too seriously and being out, having a laugh, watching the dogs, taking the piss is far more important than the haul at the end... today was no different, and once we had marvelled at the 5 peacocks in the tree over our head and the other 10 on the farm roof ( watching these things fly is a surreal way to start

  30. Yeah and I worded it very poorly. Most of the compound bows I hear/know about are stashed under people's beds because they couldn't fill an archery tag. They're like home exercise equipment. They buy them a week before archery season and expect to harvest a deer without any practice because they've been lead to believe that they're easy. When wifey finds they're not being used they're usually up on Craigslist for the next season and then the pattern repeats itself with the bargain hunters. As a result, fewer deer tags are getting filled this end. The good news with that is that if yo

  31. Gentlemen, I can see both sides of the coin with this one. Done the right way it's a legit exercise but they're unlikely to repeal the 81 statutes for the same reasons they put it in place. You only have to look at the link earlier in the thread to see what w*nk*rs and archery gear look like and that's the same on this end of the Atlantic too. As we've seen though no amount of legal regulation will stop the pleb factor. It's a shame when you look at the pedigree of English archers. We went from dominating the battlefield to a nation of scared children in two generations. You'd think it wo

  35. Banned for cruelty in the sixties. Wrapped up in the 81 Wildlife and Countryside Act. I saw some horrible footage from the 70's that was used to cement the ban. I used to agree that it was pretty cruel until I saw some dedicated archers hunt whitetail and elk, this side of the Atlantic. They make a lot of the rifle lads look sh*t.

  39. One great problem that keeps rearing its ugly head is the lack of unity amongst those that actively take part in various field sports, what chance has the future generation got when the present generation cannot back each other purely because fishing or shooting is not your chosen sport. Of course a labour council will want to ban grouse shooting, their still fighting a bloody class war, while feathering their own nests by kow toeing to ignorant twats that believe the sort of bullshit that the likes of packham and co spout on the box. Look at the boxing day meets and country shows idiots walki

I went on match.com and I was going out with 5-7 birds a week on there. I was mixing there names up and all sorts, it was non stop. All good fun. Got my head sorted and stopped it. Went to cancel my membership and had a message off a half tidy one, decided to go on one last date and she was really nice.....married her 3 years later. Most people who end up single in their thirties now give it a go and meet someone that way. It's a good crack and saves
