  1. seeing rabbits and hares swimming rivers to avoid the dogs chasing them....but the best one was a hare running up a hollow log to avoid capture by my bitch Sally the log went from the ground at one end where the hare went in and went up at an angle to about 5 foot of the ground ....the bark was quit thin and we could touch the hare in places where there were tiny holes....we left her there in peace...

  6. ? It's good to look back on past events, remember your old hunting pals and the exciting times out with the dogs,..but, film wise, there is a time to switch the camera off? Most men know when that time is, and they act accordingly... In saying this,..and considering my own past deeds, it is a case of 'what any man chooses to do with his dogs, is entirely a matter for his own conscience'... End of story really...?

  7. Hooked into a pike on light spinning gear when I was a kid, it came cruising through the water in front of me like a f***ing submarine, flared it's gills, opened wide and chucked up adult brown rat! The big girl then whipped her tail throwing the treble and cruised off one way while the rat sank into the depths. Not particularly strange but cool.

  13. On the drive home from Hessle during the first lockdown I saw a weasel run across 3 or 4 lanes of the M62 right in front of me, narrowly evaded a car and a lorry. I was made up that the critter made it safely to the other side.

  21. I was out hunting years back with the RA (Royal Artillery ) and as my name suggests I had brought along a baggy .This was years ago so no dramas lads .Fox was in a poultry crate that I gave to the terrierman back then . Later in the day ,in a lull in proceedings , out comes the crate and into a hedge where the lid was pulled open .Foxy takes a brief look round and makes a bolt for it ,hounds hollered and the fox does a loop of the field and back in the crate .Hastily put the crate back in the landy and that fox earned his freedom back where it was dug .Boy did I get some stick ?

  23. I saw one once at an ex girl friends parents house running down the driveway wall! I ran out to check the little guy out and I was obviously so fascinated by the experience that it didn't once cross my mind to take the opportunity to flatten the little c**t! I'm sure to anyone reading this the strange part of it isn't the mole bit but the girlfriend bit. c**ts....

  24. Not had much time to be out overnight in nature lately and I’m getting cabin fever being in the house every night so although it’s not quite the same I’ve stuck the bivvi up in the garden and I’m going to spend a couple of nights under canvas. It’s good for a relaxed mind .......

  32. Had a nice 3 hour session with HW 77 long today, slow going and bitterly cold but I loved every minute of being out there lads. The wood pigeons are still hitting the rape crops but getting near them is very trying, they are so, so Wiley, the Boom! Boom! boys had a full session on them last wednesday, with shot guns, got one shot off and that was it ! Check zero. So I thought I`d try last weeks tactics again, full leaf suit top to bottom inc` hands and head, Primos shooting sticks/ bucket seat and in amongst the hedgerows.

  33. Obviously keeping it legit; all would have loved to have run reds on exmoor with the lurcher but we can't now. Where would you like to hunt/fish outside your norm? I'd like a crack at the rabbits on the dales. Tope in North Wales, Blonde Ray in South Wales, skate in West Scotland, pollock/coalies and cuckoo wrasse on the Isle of skye, stingray on the South Coast are the main ones on my list.

  43. I agree with JDhunting about the upside down justice system that gives more punishment for this than peados or burglary. But there is an underlying sentiment on this thread that the only crime they committed was getting caught. I’ve been involved with terriers and running dogs my whole life , I was one of the first in my area to have bull crosses back in the mid 80s .So I know a bit about it . There is cruelty involved with running dogs and badgers. You can’t eat a badger and it’s a powerful animal that takes some killing . A pig is not going to outrun your dog s
