This is the time of year me and ian and craig would normally do a "brancher"cull for a keeper on the borders but landowner informed keeper to leave them for his visiting friends. Dissapointed but we knocked on a farm just a mile from that one and farmer was more than happy to have us on as long as we culled a few ferals as well as the branchers , thoroughly enjoyed the day out rapids in use4 points

I hated the man at times though only football related , my admiration for him is massive (that sounds hypocritical but that's true) loved his down to earth ways , he'd be mixing with the best in football 1 day and the next day drinking Tea in a council house telling the family how he'd look after their boy , old school morals mixed with a will to win driven by his desire to be the best .4 points

People can be very quick to call others bullshitters when they mention something they've seen in the hunting field. But those who've done a lot of hunting will have seen things others will say is impossible and will be called bullshitters. As a result it wont get spoken about. But when lads have the balls to mention or write about exceptional hunting feats those who've witnessed similar incidents will know what they mean and such things are possible. BUT, such privileges are usually given to those who spend a hell of a lot of time in the field.4 points

It's a bit of a mock up just to get things going will give it a right good roasting later to see how they fair and if no good easy to put a couple of dabs of weld in, will also only be burning wood which does not reach the same tempature as coal, it's normally take 2 or 3 before I get it right but it's just nice being outside playing with boys things, I get a little stir crazy if I,m stuck in for any length of time ?2 points

I've been shooting with Mark for around 4yrs now and, over the last 12ish months, we've become good mates with Dave. Dave's been up to the rugby club and the big manor house permissions a few times so, last night he returned the favour - he asked us up to his new golf club permission just outside Swindon Dave had his nephew along as he wanted to see what it was all about - I think he enjoyed it and, fingers crossed, a new hunter may have been born. Although it's only 9 holes, it's a big place with lots of uneven ground and wide open spaces - stalking about2 points

fair point that, all dogs are different , my 2 are good with strange dogs , my big younger dog , never starts on any dog infact most try to start on him, my old dog ok with them if they dont start , if they do he up for a scrap . but ive always been the boss of my dogs and they know that, they dont step out of line . our bull breeds staff, pit , bullmastiffs were ok , but we always kept them on leads when strange dogs were about, better safe than sorry .2 points

No dog is hard wired to accept strange dogs: it's a pack thing. I doubt that your pup is being protective of you, more that he's unsure how to deal with meeting strange dogs, so probably stands in front of you (you're the safe place, the known, you've got his back, so to speak) using you as the big strong being to boost his courage. The only way we can get some dogs to feel comfortable around strange dogs is by careful socialisation, which doesn't mean throwing everything and everyone at the pup when it can't get away: too much stimulus at the wrong time in a pup's development can turn it into2 points

I know of plenty of dogs that never see another person or another dog when exercised and they’re very well mannered then there’s the dog that’s born dog aggressive and you can show them as many dogs in parks he’ll still want to get stuck in. What did he actually do if you don’t mind me asking?2 points

The thing about giving someone a service is if the litter works then it was a good choice but if not its always the dog that is branded a cur even though it may have produced with a different bitch its never the bitch thats to blame.then the dog even though he is a proven worker gets a bad rep and so on. Keep it tight among mates and you won't go too far wrong.2 points
