  1. got 3, more got away, few good slips, near misses and couple of "how'd they miss that?"s..... but considering we'd a young inexperienced bitch and a middle aged cripple doing the chasing we was happy enough.

  2. All wise words lads, and here’s the thing, it should be easy to do all the things you say……but personally I don’t think we live in that world. Imho, the whole system is set up to put people in debt, the world runs on debt…..they don’t want people having their own money, at all…..it’s the council estate money lender but with a suit on and sanctioned by the state. Its just plain f***ing wrong. Its the reason “the markets” just destroyed a whole British government and put their own man in as chancellor. Really excited to see how The Brothers Of Italy pan out in the coming batt

  3. Ended up with 14 bunnies and nearly a fox. A late night walker interrupted a shot on Charlie otherwise it would have been a really good night. Always make sure before shooting there’s no one nearby…this was 11pm! A quick word stopped my mate shooting. Thank god for my thermal spotter ??

  8. My parents were abysmal with cash, absolute pair of knackers, hiding from the rent man, provy loans, every Christmas paid for by catalogue, I never had a credit card, never had one single loan in my life apart from mortgages because you can't actually walk into a bank with readies and pay for a property, finances should be taught from an early age at school.

  9. I to have an X-Trail and I like it a lot find it quite economic to be fair and my second one. Put some town and country style tires on it (buzz a bit) but good for bit of logging, ferreting and fishing etc. Even slept in it at the fishing comps with the seats down and an air bed. I'm retired now but would have loved to have had one when i was self employed, used to have an estate though. Although I could have claimed more for a van not much fun for the family. Imo loans kill you I took one out after Thatchers recession to just pay my tax off. It was like a mill stone around my neck hell o

  10. A wee bit off topic but talking about breaking down working hours into cash value etc…. for the last 30 years or so, if my boss/employer etc. pissed me off, I’ve ‘fined’ them. I’ve fined the fcukers for loads of stuff, from any form of criticism I felt was unjustified, not putting on overtime when I was skint, any wee crackdowns on breaks and time-keeping etc., or all and any manner of petty sh!te. I’ll down tools for an hour on the sly to ‘punish’ them. An old guy I worked with years ago taught me to do it, and I’ve just carried on. Find it good for morale as you always feel like you’re comin

  11. This weather needs to sort itself out, rained for days then 16 degrees today the birds don’t know what’s going on, the cocks are out on the rides fighting and younger birds are heading out far and wide i’m seeing a lot of tree rats around the feeders now the natural feed is disappearing, so the little.22 got an outing and I managed 5 of the buggers, it’s taking longer to complete my rounds now as I’m feeding right throughout the shoot, even feeding well away from the main drives, trying to create some smaller fill in drives by drawing a few birds in ?

I’m quit lucky me and my brother run a electrical business together and put most out stuff through there , our vans trucks misses fuel and phone bills , but we’ve both got a rainy day fund tucked away shit can hit the fan very quickly and got to be prepared for the worst , I think if you want money it’s out there to be earned you’ve just got to be game enough to go and work for it

  17. I have the odd moan about the old women wanting to go on holiday twice a year and not in the cheapest of hotels although some times i think i am still living through the 84/85 miners strike and tend to still have the frugality in my mindset. The wife works 12 hour shifts in a residential care home caring for people with dementia so she is adamant that we go away on holiday's wile ever we both work and are in decent health.

  18. Im a firm believer in always having a rainy day fund, could be 1k could be 10k etc depending on how much a parra Pete you are, and it’s only ever dipped into if absolutely necessary. I recon even for the most frugal of folks, it’s the curve ball you don’t see coming that can land you in the shit financially. Along with that I find if you have any amount aside, it gives incentive to save more and the more you save the less you want to spend it and end up back at the start. Don’t take out loans or finance to pay for something that isn’t an appreciating asset and will benefit

  19. Absolutely love tench. I do mainly carping now but don't count tench if caught when carping. I've had an 8lbr when carping but as far as I'm concerned my PB is 5lb12oz caught on float when I was targeting them. For me tench are the best lb for lb stillwater fighters. Only barbel out do them but they are river fish not pond fish. Teaching my little ones right, float fishing first.......

  20. I’m 57 now and I think that people my age and a bit older had the best of it . But I think back and I was paying a mortgage in 1987 with interest rates around 10%_12% . “Stuff” in general was less available. My kids now have not one but two or three massive plasma screen tvs , dishwashers , new cars . I didn’t have loads of the latest things . I simply couldn’t afford it . I had old cars and vans , and I was always shelling out on repairs and breaking down . I never had savings and with a young family , things were tight . But I have finished paying my mortgage about 5 years ago .

  21. I put a few down in the past . The idea on my part was just for a bit of a laugh for the guns . They like to see them . I attached a £50 fine to them if they were shot , and the money went to the local air ambulance charity. But the tight guns didn’t want to shoot them . So then I changed the rule so that if they flew over them and they didn’t shoot they paid a fine , but if they shot it then everyone else paid . Raised a shit load that way .??

  23. Thing is I don't think your average Joe wants to be free. He wants nice things bought on credit. He wants supermarket shelves that never run empty.... can you imagine society trying to eat seasonal food or cook from scratch! We live in a society where hair dryers have warnings on saying 'do not use in shower'! Freedom would come with personal responsibility..... and nobody could deal with that!

  24. I think that hits the nail on the head. Think the only difference we would have is I would vote conservative if there was only the usual 3 candidates on the paper. Reason being is your then actually voting for things like immigration control even if the conservatives screw us on it. My biggest fear is a labour government is the 'country' is then agreeing with their quite open opinions of actually increasing immigration and borrowing more. That said I'm probably one of the few who would and has , gone anywhere in the north supporting any alternative nationalist party that looks like it stands a

  26. With work vans I used to price it against how many jobs it would take before everything was profit, so if I couldn’t pay for it in 2 or 3 jobs I didn’t want it. The other thing, I like to own stuff so that there’s no surprises……I know mortgages are not realistic but most other stuff is. If things get sticky, the less you owe the better. jmho

  29. Doesn't work that way mate ! The care home took control, through the government, of my mums pension and bank account. She had about £10 k in the bank, they had control of the lot. If there's anything left over, it will have to go through probate, and my sister, who's taking care of things, has been told it will cost at least £1500 solicitor fees.. My mum was a cantankerous old woman, and a lot of this could have been avoided if she had signed everything over to my sister before they declared her mentally unfit to make those decisions. Cheers.

  30. I own a 2005 LandCruiser very reliable and big it’s an 8 seater so with all the seating down its also a van you wouldn’t believe what I’ve had in the back of it, it’s paid for and the reason I got a 2005 is because as soon as you jump to 2006+ it’s a different tax bracket it’s my hunting vehicle and normal use vehicle. I learnt years ago the hard way with debt I now owe no one nothing only utility bills no credit cards just my debit card my money. As Mack says travel is definitely the way to enhance life experiences I always say when your on your deathbed you will not be thinking of

  32. That thermal he's got has given him well over 2 hrs of footage apparently and could well lead him to other things. I think fair play to him to be honest.. he's not a hunter or anything but has layed a few quid out to help him get to the bottom of things one way or another. At least he's out there doing some honest work and coming up with the best results he can with the gear he's got. I feel we could well hear more from these sightings in the future..

  34. Yep it was only to have a commercial vehicle to claim some tax against ,vans and pickups you don't get much for your buck for that reason and medium vans are too small for me, my Volvo is hanging on done 225k I think, I'd rather an estate car ,much better value but only claim for 30% of cost , it's likely work will sort me a vehicle at some point so I'll most likely stick to an affordable estate.
