  4. This old fella was what I term a "reported rabbit" one that had been seen by the farmer above a thick face of tight rubbish that lay above his duck pond which was ,alongside his newly sown grass paddock. He didn't want holes dug in newly worked ground so this was a important rabbit to remove.I caught a 1/2 grown one above this track but I doubted it was one I was after.I had checked just about every where till the dogs then worked up along a tree lane that had flax growing along one edge & it was there that the dogs flushed a big rabbit from some of the flax .The rabbit headed down hill

  13. He was caught by accident despite the overwhelming incompetence of the investigation. The two bobbies who pulled him in for a minor traffic offence were piking off the prostitutes in Sheffield and hd no idea that he was the Ripper. They let him go into a public toilet on his own while walking him down to the police station. Thankfully there was one sergeant who was switched on and he grasped the situation. The sergeant sent two bobbies to search the toilets and they found the hammer. He ought to have been executed. It has cost the public a fortune to keep him alive so long and he was a tw

  16. 5000 wow that’s a hell of a number . Shotguns of a quad or pickup can make a real dent I. The numbers . Before I took the shoot on as keeper I used to help the old keeper . He wasn’t much for killing stuff so rabbits had built up in numbers to almost plague proportions. He got me to shotgun off the back of the pickup while he drove and lamped . It was carnage , I could hardly load fast enough in some fields , it was almost like an arcade game . We didn’t pick them up as it slowed things down too much . There were literally dead rabbits everywhere. The bosses mother who walked her dogs through

  19. This thing I like. First gen sprocker but the size of a big cocker. Real business like work style, not wappy, and runs on f***ing diesel I’m sure. Seen a half brother to it which threw more springer and was exactly the same and I’m crossing my fingers for another half sister very soon as it’ll likely be the last of that stuff and it’ll give me options for the future.

  21. ‘Work all day’ is one of those things, unless you’ve seen exactly what they mean by it it’s not worth taking too literally imo. Any spaniel that is all go for three hours in the morning and three hours in the afternoon on a sensible rough day where it’ll flush several dozen birds and pick maybe a dozen itself with a flight in the evening, in that shitty barely above freezing but soaking weather is as fit as I’ve ever seen. That weather breaks dogs. On a day like that I’d expect to cover ten miles personally with the dog in and out of everything with not a lot of healing or walking be

  24. I must have heard every story, regarding gundogs and terriers , there is over the years. I like the one, well several different versions, about old jack and his spaniel. Old jack was anywhere between 70 and 209, no one knew. He always kept a line of huge, strong, liver un registered springers. One day on the shoot it was -25 degrees and snow forecast. All the dogs were crawling on their belly’s on the last drive but “shepp” was still fresh as a daisy. None of the ftch spaniels, there were 12 out that day, would face the last 60 acres of bramble so in went shepp and after 30 minutes he had flush

  28. Not bad off the mark, not a whippet but reasonable. They cover a lot of ground when stretched out so have a reasonable top speed and then stay. Plenty enough for the job, the 2yr old is still a bit full on, needing to use her gears a bit more but getting there. They race Galgos and hybrids over there which might be a way to get involved and see how yours compares. ?

  32. Politics has been reduced to one dimension, left/right. In that world the likes of Kahn etc who despise the air Trump breaths find themselves on the same side as Biden, even though they're not really at all. One day maybe, we'll start treating politics like the multidimensional complex chessboard that it actually is and stop with the overly simple left/right stuff. Doesn't do the establishment any favours having the electorate thinking beyond the left/right we're fed though.....

They crossed the Bering ice bridge and are ancestors of all native Americas people. Whether a tribe in the Amazon or an Inuit in the Artic Back on topic... If Trump pulls this off and gets the election, well it will really set the left off ? As has already been said, the so called "right" (Trump supporters) have not been looting, rioting, smashing shit up but you can bet as sure as ya granny dribbles in her knickers, the left will go mental as fuuck! 42. Sick of sitting in so popped up the farm to do some bunny bashing . Decided to do the ground which runs up to the grouse moor as haven't done it yet as on the lower ground they are getting sparse and jumpy. On the hike up the hill I could hear lots of shots going off and deduced it was the keepers shooting rabbits with shotguns. Anyway the rabbits up the there were very jumpy , no wonder with quads flying about and shots going off all over , it was like the Alamo. I eventually bumped into one of the young keepers who came to see who I was , had a bit craic with him and it turns out there wer

  43. Yep we're all bar my, but there you go. We sound so similar in our outlook. I love to feel the wind and the odd drop of rain on the wind. People think I'm a total loon wandering the land on my own at night. But I love it stalking a target or being elusive if plod comes out or some do gooder comes out looking for me with their grannies path torch. I've had people walk right past me both during the day and at night. One time I had the dog with me and a bloke started to shout at me and walk towards me. The dog and I slipped around an oak tree and he was going past on the other side. As I

  46. I had one. He wasn’t bad for his size. But there not bred for it. He didn’t have the blistering take off speed, and was a bit big for hedges. But his hunting brain made up for it though. Caught a lot of ferreted rabbits with him, more than my beddy/whippet so far. if you’ve got a coursing dog then definitely take it ferreting... but don’t buy one for a ferreting dog, if you catch my drift.
