Well after all the hard work and challenges training it’s finally paid off took my pup out today ferreting, nice cold morning bit of frost lack of rabbits have made it hard to get the dog around any rabbits but this morning I got her on a nice little warren 6 holes and bolted 2 in the nets dog covered the nets nicely so I thought I’d leave a net off and if one bolted she could run it and I sat her down and within a few moments could hear bumping the dogs ears were pinned up and just as that rabbit bolted the dog was there and snapped it up straight out the hole brought it back live and release15 points

Took kids out ferreting today as they both have their own small ferrets. We did two sets and got 41 mainly through purse nets and a bit of long netting missed a few. Was watching my 12 year old daughter running the long net out made me very proud as would rather they be outside in the fresh air, keeping them fit and strong. We were out for 3 hours and everything going well and we were off after this set as we had got enough then two or three baby rabbits came out and one of the ferrets decided to lay up about 8ft down, I very rarely have to dig for them as they are only small and struggle8 points

Venus my old dog once caught two rabbits at the same time ferreting....she caught one and as she was retrieving it another bolted....she then ran that keeping the other in her mouth....and caught the second....I was astonished as usualy in that situation...they often drop the first wich runs off unles its a hard mouthed dog....the second one she caught using her mouth and feet.....I ran over and got both off her....I thought it to much to expect her retrieve both7 points

I lived in HK for a number of years, travelled from the far west to the far east of china overland,i understand a little about the people from personal experience, they aren't cruel because cruel implies deliberate pain infliction, they don't see it like that, accept the fact they are different, and its not all Asians,i was in Bhutan last month, they don't even swat a mosquito, nor sound a car horn at a dog walking slowly across the road, different people different experiences.6 points

After last week's sorty at the woods , I decided to head back there this morning for a couple of hours Parked up outside a stable block that sits beside the woods and got the dog out and the wildcat and headed inside the woods . I love the wildcat and is the perfect rifle for the woods ? Got myself settled along with the dog ,poured a coffee and waited, it wasn't too long before a nice Willy crow pitched in I managed to get a decent reading on the rangefinder 43 yards give or take a yard ( its always tricky getting a good reading this time of year loads of twigs can play havoc with5 points

Got this big dog fox carrying the front end of the vixen across the middle of a big field. Vixen had a bullet hole in it. So must of been shot a day or 2 before. He must of carved it for easy carrying.5 points

Once when lamping I was squeaking a fox in when I got dive bombed by a barn owl I was night fishing the river when two badgers rolled down the steep bank fightng the noise they made was scary in the middle of the night i wondered wtf it was I went to grab my knife but stood there in the pitch black with my fecking tea spoon that I used for brewing up5 points

just watched a video of 2-3 traveller youngfellers videoing their 3 lurchers tearing into a sheep on the lamp and they roaring it on ...it makes me want to pack this hunting game in ,its all over the farming forums so you can just imagine the reception the next man that turns up with a lurcher will get..its sickening ,and one of the guilty has his name up and the town hes from ...i swear i cant understand the thrill from this and the lack of respect for the farm owners and their stock...another few years and its done for i reckon...too much shite being done all over,,4 points

My daughter's neighbours used to feed foxes and it was not uncommon for as many as 4....6 to be sat up at the end of the garden waiting for the dinner bell call. They used to lay out on my daughters lawn in the Sun like domestic dogs would. The daughter had to have a bit of a stiff word with the neighbours because the garden was getting a dumping ground for big bones ect. When the daughter's family were eating in the dining room the foxes would come to the patio doors and just stand there waiting to be fed !! the foxes had gotten used to being Fed by the neighbours. My sister was another Fo4 points

I know some take the piss out of the American boys at times(my self included in fun)but just imagine the the different game they hunt the whole year round. They have clowns in it for the money but so have we.Plenty on here myself included would love a countryside so enormous and diverse to hunt as they have.4 points

Well after many failed attempts to sell the bsa r10 private it wouldn't sell more than likely as it was 25cal sub 12,so I took it one gun shop for a part-ex it had a hawke 3-9x50 scope on it a bipod, bottle and barrel cover and bsa padded gun bag the shop offered me £290 part-ex,so i walked out slightly disheartened to say the least,so after a chat with another rfd ,i took it down and they offered me £500 part-ex so it was a handshake, job done,so on it's way is a the hw110 in 177 flavour....just got to decide now if to mount the photon on the hw110 or viper pro....3 points

Solid, sensible post that mate Agreed wilf,,, good post P.... It's something I try to do as well, lots of Dogs have shortcomins ,, but most lads won't admit to others, in fact they won't believe it themselves . You can often work round faults,, just have to think different and work to the dogs strengths.3 points

yeh i remember reading about them few years ago , think there rottie type xs , big back dogs , and prob daft prices for them , but being honest the boerboel is prob what i go for if wanting mastiff type guard, but you pay alot for them, my mates bitch cost think said £1500 quid , rather get a x bred gsd from scrap yard , as long as it barked and bit of size to it, it would put off most people, my gsdx grey Buck looks the part, but daft as brush lol, rather have that than , a dog that might turn on owners you like them presa do . no good that in any type dog more so big dogs like2 points
