Out tonight on the farm clearing a few more rabbits. The farmer is gradually giving me more and more land to cover which is great. Managed to clear seven more tonight but only managed to pick up four as couldn’t find the others?, always annoying when that happens. As I was loading my gear back in the van I got speaking to one of the fellas who helps out on the farm, turned out to be really nice fella. As we are chatting he asked “what do I do with my rabbits?” I replied “would you like these four?” Any way long story short he took them for his ferrets. The chatting continue4 points

Hold over and under for me too. Think I’d miss those quick snap shot opportunities if I had to dial in a best guess range.4 points

So My older bitch is getting on, she will be 8 in December, so this would be a nice chance to take a pup from her. She has 6 healthy pups, just a nightmare deciding which to keep but plenty of time for that. I'll have a better mind when they are up on their feet! The pups are a week old today.3 points

First pheasants of this season for me. Took my double frontloader and I was glad I had. The first bird ran out in front of me and lifted, flying away and right I aimed down his right and dropped the hammer. As he crumpled another bird appeared and did a similar move. Good distance shots around thirty yards, maybe a little more. Jessy whispered she wants a squirrel so I got her a few down to play with. U.3 points

Went for a quick look for a rabbit down behind the local surgery, no rabbits about but this is probably the reason why, heard a rat squealing then an owl landed in a tree with it !3 points

With sub 12ft/ lb air rifles and being resolutely old school, i`ll stick with the hold over/ under school. At 12 ft/lb level and using light weight 7.87 g pellets permanently, hold over is rarely required until i`m pushing out of my comfort zone of a 38 yard zero.( no caliber debate intended). At 45 yards to 50 yards, a half mill dot hold over is all i`ll ever use with the Mamba scopes. "At sub 12 ft/lb ranges" i like to keep things easy and quick to follow.3 points

I bought the hush power 4.10 much quieter than I expected,I had a couple of shots at a tin sheet at 20 yards and I could hear the gun fire then a second later I heard the pellets hit the tin sheet were as normally firing a standard 4.10 you don’t hear the pellets hit the sheet because of the load bang, with eley 2 1/2 cartridges there was a nice pattern,I then shot the rabbit at just over 20 yards which has got to be a good omen! Only negative is they are heavy in comparison to a standard single 4.10, what I also liked is there’s plenty to look at down the barrel so it’s easy to find your targe3 points

In Romania, the wild animals are not the property of the land owner. The wild animals are the property of the state. The hunting associations will win the right to administer well delimited hunting areas (from min 3000 ha in the plain areas up to min 10.000 ha in the mountains). I'm a member in 2 different ones. This one has ~30 hunting areas with almost everything (from quail and ducks up to red stag, bears and chamois). You could also "hunt" in a fenced area. The animals from there are not under the hunting law and they are the property of the land owner. Both of them are wild anim3 points

After 3 unsuccessful seasons, I managed to shoot my first rest stag male (a "selection" - a selection is an animal that is injured, sick or has the signs that will never produce a good quality trophy) ...and, after some more work, a trophy I'm happy equally for both of them I promise to also write the story for this hunt in the next days (most probably after my vacation is over)2 points

Most not all the bitches I ever bred were mixer bayer types which suited me.Just to clarify ,the hard type terrier is not my choice of worker but to maintain a line you have to breed to this type or work drops off IMO. People's idea of a hard dog will differ but I take it to be one that will give no quarter ,would rather battle than bay and takes any amount of punishment. Bitches I've bred, as said have been mixer bayer types but capable of ramping it up if needed ,the difference between a result and a bomb site. The hard type need work or they can be a pain to kennel but sometimes work is the2 points

Thermal spotters don't always help with finding things that have been shot. I spent an hour last week looking for a fox i had shot in a grass field that was due to be cut. Ther.mal in hand i was virtually on top of it before i saw the heat source. The dog is the best thing for finding dead stuff2 points

With the red bitch that i put the photo up of i think it was more a case of my mate who owned her was a big fat lazy f****r whos dogs only really got took out to work and never got walked apart from that so when she did get out she thought "f**k You,you aint getting hold of me again".A few lads down here had dogs out of her and none of them behaved like it.2 points

Sometimes there’s a couple of issues involved this one is learnt behavior if a dog feels the best use of its energy is booting round a field regardless of owner, that’s what he’ll do, though entering if he feels his movement causes rabbits to appear, that exactly what’s going to happen One dog one owner, nice and fuckjng quiet, I don’t give a shit if he don’t catch as long as he feels I had something to do with a rabbit appearing, on a slip beside me give him a heads up you’ve spotted a rabbit , walk nice and calm slip when seen , Theres no f***ing secret in lamping, w2 points

When its comes to salukis it pays to know the line i think i have a dog here who from the moment i had him i drilled recall recall recall ! To be honest one of the most obedient dogs ive had will jump stay sit and recall is spot on,out and straight back. When it comes to the feathered fellas theres on thing to remeber patience they come good in time put the work in and make your bond without it you really wont get what you need ! This dog would not retrieve for love nor money but i put the work in with no rewards for one day 3 years later the bloody thing retrieved and not just retrieve b2 points

The recommended muzzle-energy punch for FAC .177 air rifle tuning is about 16 to 18 foot pounds of energy, as a general rule of thumb, if you are to combine increased power with effective accuracy. So, your average .177 pellets would not withstand the blast of 100ft/lbs of energy blasting into the thin skirts of your average diablo waisted pellet. Probably, these will shatter and just get spat out in fragments. Certainly they would just skid over the rifling grooves without properly spiralling along them and lose all gyroscopic spin stability. The pellet would just exit the barrel and zi2 points

Sorry Gav but I missed four rabbits with ball, only just mind! It's become apparent I think I need just a pinch more powder, maybe up from 55 to 60 grains. It just wasn't going consistent from shot to shot. Two rabbits were 40yds and I was just under them, it was a miracle the ball's didna bounce into them. Anyway, I am nearly there. Turning to shot I got a good eating bunny. And here is a video, watch yer data, it's 7min plus! U.2 points
