Same as anything.It all depends on the quality of the parents that they are bred from and the problem is that most are not bred out of decent quality bulldogs.If a 1st cross is bred out of the right type of bulldog it should be fast enough for the type of work that a bull cross is meant for.Ive seen first crosses do foxes in numbers,catch lamped rabbits as good as any lurcher and even take hares in small/medium-sized fields.

Had a call the other day asking if I could take care of some problem foxes which neighbour our shoot. The lady keeps her guard dog chained up at night outside and the cheeky fox walks right past the dog just far away enough so the dog can’t reach it! Got set up at 9:30 and within 15 dog starts barking and there is the fox strolling right past it. I let it walk past the dog and having to shoot through stock fencing wasn’t ideal but the 55gr Winchester bullet hit home. The best bit of fun about is a good bull cross. Id own another one out of tested dogs in a heartbeat. Alot of lads let them get to fat and dont strip them down enough get them right n they alright.

Love when their is youngsters to start great satisfaction seeing a Young dog learning its trade.

Got a couple of youngsters to start for the first time in 2 or 3 seasons so it should be some fun and with any luck they'll do the job.

Really looking forward to this season have a few nice dogs to enter this season. Had a young bitch out for a walk the other day and she marked a place up lovely so as soon as this weather cools of a bit I will slip out with her and I can forget about her for a month then and concentrate on some of the other pups

I'm glad it ended well for you dc I remember many moons ago losing a decent young bitch to a cave in my fault totally i should never of entered her but I shouldn't of listened to the cnut that told me it was a easy dig for her i should of known better i failed her not the other way round that day i was later told i was set up to fail by that cnut but that said I have had very good days on invites with genuine lads but it does leave a bitter taste

I think it's the highlight of any terriermans season bringing on a young dog you have bred or have had from a very young age. Even more so when you have parents grandparents etc, it's squeaky bum time for the lads who are praying theirs don't walk, saying that I think it's in the back of most of our minds haha. ?

Things you find beachcombing !
