  1. While there's a certain amount of "luck" in breeding a litter of terriers, you should know what mating is the best option if you have your own line/family for a lot of years, one of the biggest problems is that most look at what they have in their yard through "rose tinted glasses" and aren't honest with themselves, you don't just need to look at the sire and dam but their litter mates/grandparent's etc,,, You can weigh the odds of getting consistant worker's in your favour if your careful, aswell as a good dose of luck, not all will make the grade but it should help,, One thing's f

  2. You're all right, that's the luck element ? I never said chance your arm on the Gumtree shite, what I'm trying to say is exactly what Dabs was saying. I'll give you an example, my old bitch Treacle had a mistake litter to my Sid, every pup in the litter was at best below average........and that's being kind. The same dog covered the same bitch four years later and every single pup from that litter is working to a high standard. I didn't let the "luck" factor influence me, both times he covered her was out of my hands, but it's the best example I can think of to show the mishmash of

Found it a touch harsh animals been kenneled up but thats only because mine are house dogs. Bitches had s good straw bed. Pups looked inquisitive and forward going like id want to see. Dams looked in good nick and all came over confidently for a an ear rub which i was happy to supply. Stud dogs had run of the land which i liked seeing. Again all steady tempremented, friendly and outgoing. Sally was informat

  6. Greyman if its at all possible, I'd be interested in maybe having a wander out with you sometime over the next few months ?day/night, I'm interested in what your trying to prove mate. It's easy for folks to pick holes when sat behind a screen.... If it means proving you wrong I'd of thought one of the haters would of taken you up on your offer by now??? They quick enough to try and get a raise out of you.... Not man enough to come see for theirselves..... That speaks volumes imo lol.... Easier to just troll your posts....... In return I will sort you out a few sessions on the river wye barbel

  7. You're right D you can watch and study pups and take your pick accordingly. It's then in the lap of the Gods. What I'm trying to say is a lot of thought, research and work, keeping things tight to a proven well tested line increases your chances of success as opposed to haphazard breeding relying on luck.?

The difference between good dogs and that one special dog are worlds apart, there are plenty of lads producing good dogs, but I have yet to see or meet the man who consistently produces that special dog(the holy grail). They crop up occasionally and when they do cherish them,as they are as rare as hens teeth,

He be two come April I think, purposely held off abit with certain aspects as in my opinion still abit daft.. Although if there's something there he wants it. Took him out ferreting first time couple month ago, it's not my game, but fair play he marked all day, incredible nose on him will find n put fox up too. Held rabbits in net gentle, till I grabbed em... Stood off the hedges waiting, really couldn't fault him you swear he been at it most the

  12. That's a fair point DE. I had a great dog with mixed blood but good breeding. You couldn't but take a chance and breed him. Bred him several times. Although there's a few pups working there wasn't a high enough percentage per litter. There's no hard and fast rules. It could have clicked. But that's where luck comes into it. I just think to maintain a line, keep it as tight as possible for as long as possible. ?

  13. so say ive just bred my best dog on my best bitch both the sane line real well bred there are 4 pups im to keep one 3 are to be gifted to mates i trust and will do right by them that will fetch them on tidy enter them properly socialise them properly not all 4 of them are going to make world beaters so i just put that down to luck who walks in the yard and puts their hand on that special pup yes the other ones could make tidy or average dogs but there could be that one special one we are all trying to get and they dont come often so thats what i call luck show m

  15. With the gear still ready from last evening I saw an opportunity with a break in the rain to get out for a few hours this afternoon. Needed to find somewhere sheltered as it was very gusty. Drove around and saw a tree with a few woodies on so went and set up 30yds up wind from this hoping they would return and land facing me. The field next door was recently sown so put out a few decoys to give them confidence to return although I would concentrate on the tree. It was a bit slow with probably no more than a dozen returning throughout the session and only a few presented a clear shot. Still gre

Tortoises have dropped in price in recent years ,there are people hatching them out in their homes these days , Garden centers an pets shops still try their luck an charge silly money but just pays to keep your eyes open an spend some time searching , i bought 2 at £50 each off a woman in Bristol who kept loads and incubated the eggs, they were not much bigger than a golf ball when I got them. 5? Year ago .

Antisemitism was never a problem in the labour party until the hard left wing middle class socialist worker types took over the labour party who are the same goons that will slate the Jews but are not very vocal when it come's to being critical about muslim grooming gangs in working class communitys.

  21. Exactly, you can eliminate all the luck factors, you can go to the legends with their legendary dogs and bitches and still produce shit. I'm with you 100% in taking the guess work out of breeding and the luck factors but I'll still have my fingers crossed and I'll still be thankful when it falls into place. The difference between most good yards and the average man is kennel management, knowing what you've got and when to work it and how to work it. You've still got to see the potential in your animal and have the ability to make it blossom. ........but you can only fetch out what's

  27. Because within the group of people I share data with many of them are better at scanning the web than me and if you search big cat sightings enough you would come to this, then you would see pictures that were shared in confidence, but more important than that is, I am a man of my word and if I told you I would not share stuff, it would not make me right just because I never got caught, I don't have a lot in life mate so my word actually means something to me and finally some of those people who have asked me not to share stuff are on this site, just because the doubters make the most noise on

You no through your own experience how difficult it is to get decent pictures, so imaging having to sort through shite like this as well, I will show you two quite convincing hoax,s one of them has been used by several national newspapers as a big cat picture over the years, the cat was photographed from a kitchen window in Devon, but if you zoom in and look the long tail is actually a piece of wood on the floor and under the front foot is more debris making the leg look more feline, were as what you are looking at is a mangy fox, the paw print was sent in to a guy up country as confirmation o

However, this thing with corbyn really is a storm about f**k all as usual......another non story from our esteemed media. There was a picture, he exchanged comments with the artist about freedom of expression and didn’t take a very close look at the picture to see that it may be interpreted as anti Semitic by some. A dose of his own medicine?.....certainly........a story worthy of news?.......as usual, no !

  38. The thing about luck, it runs out! To keep a line going you need to know it inside out, the breeding right back, the better individuals with better traits and the ability to pass on those traits. When things are going well keep as tight as possible, all the while thinking ahead and regularly breeding to the baseline but with subtle differences to give you room to continue, so you don't box yourself in. When those slight variations fail, discard and continue with what is working. And when the time comes to recognize it and not be afraid to outcross. If successful, then fold it back into the ori

  41. No rabbits are diurnal and crepuscular which means they are happy to feed at both night and day and at low lights and their eyes are perfectly adapted for these conditions ... dogs are crepuscular so are at a disadvantage straight away ... add to that they are in their own environment and know all the escape routes and as a prey animal their senses are finely tuned to escape hunters ... we cheat by adding light into the equation and can at times manipulate the situation but on the whole I think it's fairly fair with the odds 60/40 to the dogs advantage ......

  45. You took it to literally marshman, I've had 35 years on the bank mate and even with the best intensions and all the pedigrees in the world there's still an element of luck. Quote me some big names that consistently produce the goods and I'll tell you some shit they've bred.......myself included. I follow a line, a family call it what you want and I consistently produce working terriers, but I still need that little bit of luck to get the golden goose instead of gifting it to the lad down the road ?
