  4. Facts are,..(and I do hope my opinion is of some small comfort to lads, who try so hard to get their dogs fetching captured game back to them),..that..not all lurcher type dogs will retrieve. It is annoying,...even a deal breaker for some owners,..but, unfortunately, I believe it to be a fact. There are no canny tricks or mysterious techniques to force a regular retrieve of a live and kicking, squealing and scratching edible quarry. I start all my pups on the fetching business at an early age and endeavor to instill in them, a kind of behavioral pattern that hopefully becomes in

  9. Sell by dates were invented as a marketing scheme to encourage people to buy more and throw away what is deemed not fresh. It's a shame so many people have been conditioned to obey that little bit of ink.

  29. Well, I was out with someone who felt the same until he shot a duck with one shot, opened the gun and shut it again on the one unfired cartridge due to two geese approaching. Click, no recoil, no second barrel either! Beretta need recoil to switch barrels for the single trigger. On that occasion my sxs with two triggers dropped both geese! U.

  32. Thanks a lot for all the advice guys I’m leaning a lot from you all, using ferrets to hunt rabbits was something I’d never heard of before so that’s quite an interesting thing I’m going to look into and watch videos on, I’ve got in contact with an old friend who’s family owns a farm or two about any shoots he knows of that I can go beating for and he has said he will find me some contacts and let me know so fingers crossed I can get there soon. In response to the video game comment that’s correct id much rather be out and about doing something useful and different than I would be sat at home g

  37. I reckon that last line is probably the best bit of advice so far! lol You'll find most of us started messing about with hunting at a pretty young age, jumping the fence with a ferret and a few nets, or messing with air rifles down the woods was normal for me from very early on... also fishing, lamping, ratting... pretty much anything outside really... I think it's great that you're a young bloke who could quite easily be stuck in this video game culture, that a lot of youngsters are now, but instead you're keen to get out and do something a bit different instead... What

  38. You have two choices one has already been suggested to you, which is to get yourself along to your local shoot and offer your services as a beater, you will meet other likeminded folk then get invited out for a bit of ratting and other pest control type jobs, or you can go in the complete opposite direction like me and just go were you want when you want and plead ignorance when it comes on top, it won't make you flavour of the month but you will be fit as feck from legging it and you get to know every gap in the hedge and cut through for miles around, if your planning on getting a gun licenc
