Two priests are driving down the road when they are stopped by two police officers. "We're looking for two child molesters," the officers tell them. The priests look at each other before they speak. "We'll do it."4 points

Facts are,..(and I do hope my opinion is of some small comfort to lads, who try so hard to get their dogs fetching captured game back to them),..that..not all lurcher type dogs will retrieve. It is annoying,...even a deal breaker for some owners,..but, unfortunately, I believe it to be a fact. There are no canny tricks or mysterious techniques to force a regular retrieve of a live and kicking, squealing and scratching edible quarry. I start all my pups on the fetching business at an early age and endeavor to instill in them, a kind of behavioral pattern that hopefully becomes in4 points

I dont think the money is coming from anywhere mate, I think everyone needs to realise that Britain needs to get smaller. They need less debt, less credit and less “things”.......they need to work on resurrecting their society rather than what year and make the car in the drive is3 points

Sell by dates were invented as a marketing scheme to encourage people to buy more and throw away what is deemed not fresh. It's a shame so many people have been conditioned to obey that little bit of ink.3 points

Good luck rob be interesting to know what to try and how you get on so keep us posted. Mine is nearly 4 and not a chance with a possessive streak a mile wide and some sort of over excited frenzy with day time catches. Not so bad on the lamp just holds them till i get there and one night even bought one back when he forgot where i was and walked into me3 points

Do I get off my arse and go out in the 20mph wind and drizzle on the golf course or do I play it safe, watch Danny, champion of the world on DVD and soak up this bad boy...........hmmmmmm I think there is one very clear winner??2 points

place i used to go rabbits where heading for home first sweep of the lamp so i started lamp on straight up the hedgerow it was like a light barrier they didnt want run through the beam,as i walked up hedgerow i d then sweep out and a few would be siting tight, anything to get the dog a few runs. always found the more powerful the lamp the better it was if you was trying to shake one away from cover2 points

No no no i mean when i said "In the field is a different animal, very focused and driven" I was referring to her difference between field and home not in comparism to greyhounds. In fact very like the Greyhound in the field. and in truth I have more experience with greys than Galgos2 points

Well, I was out with someone who felt the same until he shot a duck with one shot, opened the gun and shut it again on the one unfired cartridge due to two geese approaching. Click, no recoil, no second barrel either! Beretta need recoil to switch barrels for the single trigger. On that occasion my sxs with two triggers dropped both geese! U.2 points

Alternatively just get on here and find a Galguero that still breeds rough coated animals from good coursing lines and get one of these.2 points

Thanks a lot for all the advice guys I’m leaning a lot from you all, using ferrets to hunt rabbits was something I’d never heard of before so that’s quite an interesting thing I’m going to look into and watch videos on, I’ve got in contact with an old friend who’s family owns a farm or two about any shoots he knows of that I can go beating for and he has said he will find me some contacts and let me know so fingers crossed I can get there soon. In response to the video game comment that’s correct id much rather be out and about doing something useful and different than I would be sat at home g2 points

A lot depends on the size of the beam. if the beam is small/tight, it does seem to help,2 points

I reckon that last line is probably the best bit of advice so far! lol You'll find most of us started messing about with hunting at a pretty young age, jumping the fence with a ferret and a few nets, or messing with air rifles down the woods was normal for me from very early on... also fishing, lamping, ratting... pretty much anything outside really... I think it's great that you're a young bloke who could quite easily be stuck in this video game culture, that a lot of youngsters are now, but instead you're keen to get out and do something a bit different instead... You have two choices one has already been suggested to you, which is to get yourself along to your local shoot and offer your services as a beater, you will meet other likeminded folk then get invited out for a bit of ratting and other pest control type jobs, or you can go in the complete opposite direction like me and just go were you want when you want and plead ignorance when it comes on top, it won't make you flavour of the month but you will be fit as feck from legging it and you get to know every gap in the hedge and cut through for miles around, if your planning on getting a gun licenc2 points
