I'm off fishing later so we popped out for a quick walk and picnic. We found parasol, beefsteak and field mushrooms aswell as spearmint, watercress, blackberries and a few other bits.28 points

So. I’ve decided to start a new thread for the 22/23 season up at the shoot now as you know I’ve been involved with my shoot for a long time ( 15 years or so ) my intention when I joined was to shoot it a bit, give days to others in exchange for other shooting and to get all the pest control and the deer, ( it only took me a couple of years to get what I wanted ?) never to be a syndicate keeper, things changed properly last year when I was asked to run the full thing, for the last 4 or 5 years I’ve done the majority of the work up there but we always used to share the feeding. Anyway, aft7 points

Don't hate the players, hate the game.Backward african living in a mudhut with 10 kids gets given an AK47 by a slightly more savvy African who is employed by an Arab who has a medicinal Chinese buyer or a Yemeni dagger maker customer waiting for the rhino horn.7 points

I bought a Sightmark Wraith 4k max a while back from Scott county, I did want to get one off Blackwood but they were out of stock , so no disloyalty on my part . I’ve been very impressed so far , sighting in was a doddle and it’s done all I can ask of it . I wanted a scope that I could sit out with in the evening and not have to change over guns . The picture quality in daylight is superb . The night mode I was slightly disappointed and thought it’s not that much better than my old pulsar , but I can clic up the zoom and although the image is pixelated I can really place the bullet perfectly.6 points

After a successful afternoon decoying I went out foxing with my mate last night. He had been out sea fishing and came home with around 50 cod and a load of mackerel so I came home with some ? Anyway 1st call was the Hall again to try for the one we saw last week .Set up in same field and after nothing showed to the usual calls I tried red fox rally and a nice dog fox came into the field doing a large circle until he was dropped at around 100 yds. 2nd call was at a local stables who keeps chickens too. This time vixen mating call brought in a cub which sat and looked at the calle6 points

Here's a true story that very well may give reason why the Red deer in the forest are some of the best in the UK, a farm in the village i live in once had it's own deer herd and pack of hounds to hunt the carted stag and the farmer who owned it had enough money to improve the deer herd by travelling Europe to find the best Red deer he could to bring back and improve his herd.He found what he was looking for in Hungary and brought some deer back, a few years later on the turn of the 1800's - 1900;s the hunting of the carted deer was banned and he was told to cull his herd, well he didn't shoot6 points

chasing a few 7 ounce rodents is no fecking test of a terrier,a pup under 6 months of age perhaps, most beddy owners work adults as a pup and they never work above what the average pup can ascertain.the vast majority of beddy breeders and owners are puppy workers and peddlars of overpriced dross.ill gift a decent bred pup to an owner that is willing to get the mutt out and see beyond a fecking kc turd.078876746576 points

I used to get a lot of salmon as a kid, when I was at school and there was a good run I could and did at times make more than the average weekly wage in a night at weekends, and I had a paper round, I had loads of cash which was just as well, when the lecky or gas was cut off at home I used to pay the bill.5 points

Ok ,so ……..had a client on Friday night ,last minute booking off Instagram .I love Instagram? So the chap turns up with one of these new fangled C50 things which is fine providing its shooting straight ( ref FH post ??) Put the chap on paper at 100m and have to say it was some of the best grouping I’d seen bar myself of course ?. His request was a big roe buck ,well join the queue matey cos they all want one of them .Plenty of bucks about so I played it down and said most the medals had been shot and he might have to settle for a rep head ? Now I’m not prejudice against Sc5 points

Had a go at making lead ammo for the first time. Found it quite therapeutic till I burned my toe with hot lead, saying that I did have flip flops and shorts on lol. I just struggled to get the melting pot doing a nice pour, it didn't seem to flow that clever. Saying that I've never used one before so I don't really know. I made some 9mm to try, what is everybody else's go to lead shot size ? I may get one of them Lee 2 shot molds in 10mm or possible 11mm but they may require very heavy flat bands to shoot them. Also any tips for finishing the balls when cast ?? I just snipped with tiny electri4 points

Back in the sixties early seventies, before salmon farms, there was a really good market in salmon and sea trout. A roe deer was worth money as well. I don't think there's any serious profit poaching done these days.4 points

I truthfully think without western conservation influence, through hunting and tourism, animal populations would rapidly diminish, they take no prisoners.3 points

I reckon turn of the century would’ve been even better. When Africa truly was still the dark continent. But also unfortunately before any thought for sustainability had developed. Still, must’ve been incredible to see the richness and density of wildlife and human cultures. Before ‘civilisation’ was thrust upon the place.3 points

Not many really care about that. If rabbit hare fox were critically endangered? Wouldn't stop a lot. I don't pass judgement on what I don't know. I don't agree with rhino hunting and mostly this shit is set up, but that hunters fee might have fed 2-4 blokes whole families for a whole year ?. Wouldn't u do same?3 points

No, but it only takes 2 rich Chinese busninessmen to make the price of the horns worth the risk. The business is in China that's what counts.2 points

No sob story there Walt, it's just how it is, the homily was for max wanting to shoot the trigger men in the legs and cut their lugs off ? those guys face death every time they go out, it doesn't perturb them, they live for the day, but everyone in the chain is equally as culpable, just the idiot who pulls the trigger because of his 10 pot bellied kids gets his nose and ears cut off, there's a thousand standing in line to take his place, I just remembered that rhino shot in the Paris zoo for its horn and the UK country house burglaries for victorian horn trophies, its not going to stop.2 points
