I had a satisfying one last night. Set up back to hedge on slope of a field. Moon doing me no favours & wind kept changing its mind. Mouth calling and thermal spotting. See fox trotting in from next field up to my call. Making steady progress so I get ready on rifle. As heat signature drops below my eyeline cos of slope of ground. Its a pity this type is now seldom seen.Best dog I ever had was bred this way. Honest worker and a fabulous temperament. A great companion/working dog. Its a shame there are so many bull crosses and saluki crosses now. They seem to have replaced the deer/grey/collie grey types. I know plenty will say, there's an obvious reason for that. I would have to agree the specialist crosses do what they do better than the all rounder d/g/c/g types.But nevertheless, for me, if I had to choose, a honest deer/grey/collie grey would be my choice every day of the week.

You don't see many different colored rabbits these days in NSW but bolted two black ones from a warren a while back. The dogs were extra determined to catch them and killed both which they rarely do unless it's a hard catch for them. Black lives don't matter in whippet world, lol.

Went out yesterday and done a some warrans on a golf course got plenty of rabbits but lost quite a few as we were unable to take the whippets with us but still done well. But I got my first black rabbit and it put up a good fight. Some of my friends say I am racissist but it was bolted by a black ferret I call it fair.
