Me!! To play football, done my knee in and was advised to rest elevate for 6 weeks. Anyway 3 weeks in and I was demented, lurcher just needed to go mental, and I genuinely thought the terrier was in a coma most of the time. Anyway, a couple from this morning it was 2 and a bit very hard miles for me but a walk in the park for the dugs… ferreting tomorrow too ?12 points

Well I was at one of the days in a chapter of “Dogs & Deer” and I can tell you it’s word for word. Likewise quiet a few pals, very good lads, did guest chapters in various books and they 100% wasn’t bullshit. The bloke puts in a lot of miles and is a very single minded type of bloke about whatever he is focusing on. He definitely isn’t some kind of super hunter and he wouldn’t pretend he is. I always found him a very decent bloke and he used to send me a free book every time one came out, I always insisted on paying but he wouldn’t hear of it. Haven’t spoken to him8 points

Had a stroll up the mountains this morning at daybreak to see what thing's were like,I actually travelled in the motorhome last night with the dog's Boots & my Cocker bitch Suzie & spent the night in it ready for an early start this morning, the weather could of been better,it rained non stop every second we were out, down at ground level it was dry,you really couldn't make it up..drenched would be an understatement! I was glad of the motorhome on coming back down from the mountains, change of clothes, coffee & something warm to eat..was nice to see a bit of wildlife even on such a hor8 points

This picture was originally taken in the 80’s,we were both around 17/18. I posted this picture up on here in 2015,I’ll find a link to the thread and post it. The young man holding up the hare with the striped trousers on is my best mate Gary, during our teens we were inseparable. Always out rabbiting, ferreting, lamping, shooting, fishing you get the picture, and if not in the field..in the pub. Gary found god and became a minister and did tremendous charity work. Sadly Gary was an anti vaxer, and was hospitalised with pneumonia covid and put in an induced coma and placed on7 points

Just treated myself to a Hilleberg tent for them that no what they are, looking forward to a bit of winter camping in it. Quality is excellent thought should be for not much change out of 7 hundred quid for a one man tent lol. Fancied one for a few years so thought sod it buy one. Resale value on eBay is almost new price.5 points

First day over and although a very small day, with us only doing 2 main drives and not pushing one of them all the way and making up the rest of the day with small areas and a few bits of other drives it was a good day 1st drive we pushed what I know as the tip through, setting off from from the bottom of the field it wasn’t until we reached the tip that we started to see birds, they were doing what was expected and running towards the end of the drive, a few birds were dropped before we got to the last part of the drive, where we change direction a push it down, this is where the action3 points

I have seen so many people give up the dogs for various reasons. In many cases it has been a good thing, some people should just not own dogs or God forbid try and work them. But for some people who have given up I think it was a mistake. The things that replaced the life that they previously had is not always an improvement. But it's all objective of course. I very much doubt that I will own another proper working terrier. The present one will be my last. Thank God. But cannot imagine a life without a terrier. Probably going down the fluffy Bedlington route next time. Easier to live3 points

I think it’s one of them that dog lads can creep round worrying about “the antis” or they can just say f**k it mate, I want to go out and see my dog leather gear. Antis are always going to be antis, “ethical” dog work won’t convince them otherwise…..f**k em, I love seeing some great big savage of a dog break stuff into tatters and long may there be lads willing to go out and just get stuff killed ?3 points

Bit of advice when feeling a little weathered by age after a death; get yourself a pup, takes the mind forward to the future rather than dwelling back on the past You're only are old as the dogs in your kennel.........................3 points

If I am not using my beloved RWS subs, Hornady HV are my alternative ammo and at 1200fps they are not overly loud, and seem to hit with a wallop but the Stinger just seem to be a bit wild and as said, the grouping was not that great for a small target such as rabbit IMHO. I have noticed the latest batch of RWS seem to have less wax coating on them. Phil2 points

I dug a trench, once. About four foot deep, I'd guess. Three foot wide. God knows how long. Thirty foot or so? It was to underpin the footing, I think, of a golf course club house. I think that's what they said? Mean't nothing to me. I was just there to dig. And dig we did. Me and Den. He was the ganger on the job. There was some other lad there, when I arrived. I think they pretty much stopped bothering with a third guy, once Den and me got into our thing. We had such crack, it was a pleasure to come to work each day! I became so handy with the pick, he could nominate a pebble and I2 points

He keeps bringing it up in conversation about milly an minky. Sadly they past away did abit of work with them local on stable yards. We had them since they was weeks old both sisters had them in the house every day before we had room carpet put down so they did what they wanted had the run of down stairs. His favourite memories was them arching there backs an jumping backwards an forwards making there groovy noises ? class when they did t2 points
