  1. The plan is to keep these lines going pal I’ve got excellent bloodlines in my dogs on the Collie side and in the Collie Greyhound side it’s very hard on the Collie Greyhound side because I’m very particular and there’s not much out there what I like, I’m probably go down a different route to most lads with regards dogs I prefer more Collie than running dog blood in my dogs and to be honest I don’t know anyone else out there what breeds or keeps the type of dogs I work so I breed my own. Regards Collie John

  2. People like boris will just try and ruin the thread because he has nothing to offer the conversation, it always amuses me when people who have run a few dogs or stuck an odd ferret down think they no more than folk who live and work on the land all there lives, I have the utmost respect for folk who say I won’t believe it until I see it as that’s a natural reaction, but those that just try to shout louder than everyone else to make a point are best ignored,

Had a call from a keeper who had a keeper pal who had a problem on a wild bird shoot, the problem was solved today, but as my season is now over and the old girl is well getting old this was almost certainly her last fox and a nice hassle free bolt for her to end her working days was just right .

  5. It strikes me as funny that when i mentioned i had seen a red stag in my field a few pages back i was ridiculed for being slow , couldn't get a photo ... I must be useless . Thinking logically i have farmed here for about 10 years and we have always had a herd of 20 or so reds that float in and out off the moor and every year we watch their calves grow , but in all the hours i have spent outside , day in day out , all hours of the day and night , lambing , tractor driving , fencing , walking ,shooting and of course out with my dogs ... countless hours ... I have only seen that one stag , a fle

  6. Acquired a bit of a beast of a new permission today. Went for a look round this afternoon. Literally from asking around in the pub. Just goes to show, if ya keep banging 'looking for a permission drum' chances are you might get a bit of luck. All that land owned by a early 18th century cottage.

  7. Well i went out shooting targets this afternoon with the 99 with the intention of checking zero out to 60 yards and ive got to say i was very impressed at how consistant this 99 is at range over an hour or mores shooting. So, after tea i donned me cammo and went off to a large garden perm surrounded by fields thats got a good number of warrens around it. All the usual stalking and creeping about but after this afternoons practice i had more than enough confidence on an windless evening to take these coneys from between 47 and 52 yards with bang on head shots. 6x mag and nothing more

I think your right katch most crosses can do most things with patience, but I personaly think people are getting all romantic and dewey eyed over this, heart ruleing head sort of thing, any old mongrel will catch the odd rabbit given enough chances, but if your a hunting man they have to fill the bag at the end of the day, so why handicap yourself.

Obviously theirs a angle where because he's my dad I would believe him but he isn't the bullshit type at all. And a school head teacher seen one while fishing the rivers and kept his mouth quiet because even tho he was a country guy he wasn't as thick skinned as my dad and didn't want the jokes at his expense . He told my dad about it that's how I know . I just find it hard to believe that everybody is making it up when they get jokes when they say it (exclude the crap repor

  21. not done any nite netting for a good few year.....learned the old way like yourself....nowt wrong with that either....but the basket and poles ...yeh there heavy and cumbersome...but easy to use once you got the hang......even at night.....at night with each pole you lift out I lift the pole up high and kind of flick the net like when you throw a bed sheet over a bed ..so the slack in the net runs down the running lines....or you can end up with bagging gathered round each peg

  22. I buy my pole material in 6 meter lengths , I like a pole to be a meter so get 6, I think retail ones are shorter because they are getting 7 to a length? I like extra on because they are more versatile, you can slide the grommets up and down to suit, I shove poles up behind wire etc to keep things ridged, as I don’t want to run a full net out to cover a small set I just run out what is needed the shove the other end behind the wire so it could be any pole really, I also use a pole pusher for hard ground etc which I slip over the pole end

For me though, the loyalty that he showed his climbing partner on the Dawn Wall is the most impressive and inspiring bit of it all.

A few years ago I was approached by a lad that wanted to catch some hares with his dog. So I suggested an area where I knew them to be in. He says to me 'naaa none there, I lamped up there 5 or 6 times last season'. ? ........... lol 5 or 6 times in a whole season?!! Lol. I went there about a week later and caught 2 the same night ?. Big cats will have no problem whatsoever living in this country, an

  35. i have never had a problem, if you are bothered about it use a bit of twine with a peg on either end, when ferreting i often slip a purse net ring over the end poles and peg down putting tension on the top line. That is a good idea on bumpy ground you can run the net out a bit slacker when putting poles in, the slack will go into the low bits, i will use tent pegs to fasten into hollows, then put a purse net on either end under tension to tighten the top line.

In my eyes Maddies parents were wrong to leave them alone.Bad parents?....On a whole probably not. Bad decision to leave them alone?....Most Definitely.

Not my cuppa T think they would be to slow for my ends as second chances are not given or offered but I think they would make handy dogs for any one wanting to start a line of collie greyhounds far better to use one of these as a stud if there working than half the so called working collies out there that only work a couple of pet sheep for trials I personally think this litter would make good breeding stock dogs tbh for anyone wanting to get a decent line of the ground for there needs

  43. Set up on the farm for a bit of pigeon and crow, very few about so the farmer is happy they seemed to have moved. Only a hand full about so packed up. Seen the farmer on the way out and he kindly gave me £20 for the crows I left him the other week, happy days? Had a walk round the other field down the road from the farm and the shotgun goes up and a tree rat bites the dust. This boy had some big nuts on him ? Managed a pigeon flying over put landed in the woods and couldn't find it, hate it when that happens. Just as I was heading back to the van shotgun goes up again an

After an hour or so of them trying to out shoot their dad, we will go for a coffee / ice cream somewhere and ( hopefully) I will remind them I am still numbered 1. Why would anyone want the government (our servants) to hold all the guns? i just can’t understand that thought process.

Let’s have it straight please we don’t have a huge gun culture in the uk either legally held recreation weapons or criminal based the u s does if you live in an isolated house in upstate New York , Zimbabwe, or sout Africa and an armed criminal gang break in your home you aren’t into 999 upstairs under the bed your locking a mag into your Dimarco variant and your cutting those c**ts in half so they never come back to bother you , your family or your neighbors again as within the full rights of the law . We don’t live there , we don’t have their lifestyle or
