My kids have now learnt to ski with his uncle and the whole family have cooked for us....it's been 21 years since I was last here....what a place! Went to check some new land today An wasn’t what was cracked up to be so we headed back home to try local, Left the old fella to have a mooch about the sett I didn’t expect him to drop in of course was the set he dropped into . I haven’t even seen a dog drop in this before ?, he was there about 20-25 mins digging on an eventually dropped on a small vixen. He was lifted and she was let run for another day7 points

Thank you! We hunt mainly hares and foxes) if very lucky - can run after deers (not too many in the woods here nowadays, alas) Khortiy is mixture of local dogs + brought in Asian hounds like Saukii, Tazy etc. They are slightly less quick on short distance than borzoi but has higher stamina and can run for many kilometers in good speed and have strong hunting instincts. Here is the photo - khortiy (left dog).7 points

It would have to be Mr wade for me keen dog man and and a very intelligent man. And if it wasn't for the hard work from him and the rest of the NWTF have done none of us would be putting a dog in the ground. I have found one thing when you meet the so called big names.... there dogs and there keeping of dogs arnt much better than the rest of us.7 points

At the end of the day we're all just polishing turds, no one recreated the wheel, if it wasn't in them, you couldn't fetch it out. I admire all of the named terrier men, past and present, most didn't want the name, and all of them got into it for the sport not the fame.......fame is something that's earned, not freely given. On a personal level it would have to be Nick, I don't speak to him and haven't for a long time but he's one of the best men I know with a terrier .7 points

It's the whinging remoaners , 80% of MP's and the people the will not accept democracy like sneaky Blair creeping off to the EU saying to the them "dig your heels in ",the still go on about remaining that have Fecked any chance of a good deal. Constantly giving the EU hope we will stay in. You can't play Poker when every fecker showing your hand to the other players. We have only had two referendums in this country one join the Common Market which we accepted the vote for and one to leave the EU which all the removers will not accept they lost. Why on earth would we trust an another vote7 points

None of us either side remain or leave have answers we all have conjecture i personally think in the long run the eu was a failing state and nothing more than an elaborate ponsy scheme if you have evidence to the contrary I’d be willing to look at it but please don’t assume that the reasons you voted remain are the same as why people voted leave equally don’t assume people did zero research and were swayed by campaigns looking for answers is futile you Won’t be satisfied7 points

And any man can knock on a door to obtain permission ! I never wrote poaching/trespassing makes a better terrier man or that the chap I know of , was the best at it ,but you managed to crab him anyway that's foolish I'm 40 have a hard job with a big young family to keep and there are some Sunday mornings when it is easier to stay in bed and not sneaking around in the dark , ringing mates up to make sure there on route etc , maybe things in life are catching up with me or I've just lost some drive but one thing I know for sure is the stubborn old chap will probably be on his way back home from5 points

Met and worked dogs with a few of the big names and writers over the years and been disappointed when ive seen their dogs and their keeping of dogs. Definitely learned to only believe what i see with my own eyes5 points

There's an old boy I know of , only been out with him a couple of times years ago , still at it he,a about 60 , bar none the most genuine yet stubborn terrier man I've ever met , digs on his own most weekends through the season (Friday ,sat,Sun )always respects his quarry (has a closed breeding /cubbing season ) out at first light back fills properly ,and never heard him brag once , the drive he shows easily puts most to shame and he,s put a lot of tackle away and the man has'nt got one square inch of permission and never has ,I won't put his name on here as he would moan like f#ck but there5 points

I admire my old dad . He never had a famous line of terriers never wrote a book never grassed nobody never tolerated thieves . Although he did have a line of terriers. He always had a dog that was there when you broke through, always had a good lurcher even had good chickens . Proper countryman proper stockman and other than he’s mates or trusted men that he sported with no c**t knew him , just the way he like it lol5 points

Fair play he sounds keen and I’m not doubting his passion at all. But what I’m trying to say is do you not think he’d have enjoyed himself a lot more over the years had it been on permission and he could enjoy the dogs working than worrying about someone turning up? PS don’t get so heated, these forums are for discussion, that’s all✌?4 points

Times have changed and not for the better all i know is when i started out these men were held in high regard , and if you scratch beneath the surface of the patterdale all roads lead back to them its a reputation which would of soon fallen apart if the dogs where rubbish , they themselves would of used other peoples blood its getting the mix right which is what they did the boom in the blacks was then taken on by the next generation of breeders most already mentioned in my life time i saw the same thing happen with Nick Stevens bred terriers during the 90's his terriers were the must4 points
