  1. A good bitch will never be brought to a crap dog, whereas plenty of substandard bitches are brought to good dogs,if the bitch is worthy of breeding you can be sure she’ll be going to a dog worth breeding off, giving less of a % of crap in the mix,IMO.

  2. i have a saluki bull grey x wgp he lacks a bit of speed but a very good nose will find game anywhere very biddable and works well with terriers. he wouldn't be everyone's choice but he suits the type of hunting i do.

  3. The breeding game is based on % less shit in less shit bred ..... lot of kennels relied on the stud dogs to carry a line and would mate them to lesser bitches in the past which means there is a % of shit in most lines just as doubleing up the genes to get you good terriers doubling up the same genes can get you rubbish aswell

  4. Went out for a walk around the fields last night to clear a few more rabbits. Managed to bag 3. Just walking bag to pick the first one shot, entered the field found the rabbit, had another scan of the field and then I see those BIG orange eyes in my lamp. Charlie out in the long grass about 150-200yards away. Only had the 22 so no way I was taking the shot. Kneeling down keeping it in my scope I started squeaking my lips. This certainly got its attention and to my surprise started coming in quick sharp. There it was full view about 30 yards infront of me. Nice and

  7. Quite funny in anther way as these little pricks walking round feeling invincible are a direct result of the limp wristed left wing must,nt slap your children bla bla bla tree hugging Sandle and sock wearing liberal twats that have hijacked society removed any line that should,nt be crossed, stolen every parents right to give there own kid a smack and enforced there thinking on the less well educated on how to rear your feral child on a council estate, were as if someone came out and issued a good smack in the mouth to the said offender he would think before he done it again, the lefties are

  8. Didn't have a decent pic of the Pup so took her in the studio today and set one up. One with the terrier too which was a pain in the arse as they only tolerate each other at the minute. But still ordered a piece of art work for the wall and even the Mrs likes it .

  10. The final cut of silage was picked up last night so I thought I would go for a walk with the .223. I couldn't be out late as got an early start this morning. Got to the turbine field and had a quick scan with the spotter. Saw a fox half way across the field trotting up the turbine road. Rested the rifle on the gate post, found it in the lamp, got on aim and squeezed the trigger. The thud told me I had got her. Nice little vixen. Paced from her back to the gate post, 126 paces. https://screenshot.net/jmqy1io

  14. I think it depends how close bred either is.If the bitch is closer bred than the dog the pups will throw to her and vice versa. But as you say some unions click better.
    4 points
  15. What brings most to the mating is it the dog or the bitch in some cases the best dog won't always throw the best pups can be put to multiple bitchs and never throw much and then can click with others.

  16. Went out this morning for a few hours with the hw100, last week i was told by land owner i could get a few phesant if i wanted, there is loads about on here and iv got rid of almost all the ferrals so i think thats why he said i could, i ended up with a longshot on a woody and 2 phesants at about 30mtr, (head shots) i dont think il bother shooting any more, theyr so easy to shoot it doesnt seem right so i think il stick to the pests.

  18. Well not so much a pup now at 16 month old but really pleased with how she’s coming on. Went out for a bit of a mouch just as it was getting dusk, it’s public land with thick woodland and the odd open field which backs onto a housing estate but i rarely see anyone else other than the odd dog walker . There is the odd rabbit or two but they’re well clued up and rarely stray more than a couple of yards from cover but surprisingly this one strayed out in the open maybe thirty yards from cover, the bitch saw it before me and ran it and managed to grab it at the second attempt just before it

  19. Seems mostly everyone round me is a miserable baystard..., or maybe that’s just the effect I have on them? Think a lot of people measure happiness, not on quality of life, but the quantity of shit they have, or don’t have..., especially when comparing it to their peers. And I’m not immune from it. Thing is I’m at my happiest fishing a rise on a June evening, or walking a field on a blowy winters night.., and that costs very little, just time. What I think most lack is a sense of perspective. I thank my lucky stars every day for the health of my kids and loved ones..., because I know

  20. Good example of keep it simple. Less costly kit to lug about and go wrong. I was sqeeking up one and an owl nearly took my hat off. the owl was totally silent and I didn't know that it was coming until it must have flared away and I heard it. Picked it up going away in the beam. That did surprise me. Don't forget to not keep the beam directly on charlie. Keep the beam either above or below so that it isn't so blinding. Just so that there is a little eye reflection. That way they come in better and don't get spooked so much and end up with a lamp shy.

  30. I dont let a pup see/chase game if i can help it, until they are stock broken and i have the recall sorted..... Start them off ferreting first teach them patience, marking and mouth a few rabbits in the nets, start them on the lamp around 14 months old, always started them with an experienced dog on teeth and bigger stuff at around 18/20 months old pre ban. ?Seen loads given too much before they ready and sicken..... Holding back has never ruined a dog imo, runner or terrier?

  32. I never see the point in showing them loads of work young I’ve seen loads of people working them like adults over the years being to keen to get them going there normally f****d by 3-4yrs of age when started to young there always seems to be problems with lack of retrieving, recall, hunting up or the basics required I don’t think there’s a problem with a drop of ferreting to nets with young dogs as you can use commands like sitting the dog or staying the dog in a position or blind stays also it gets the dog some live fur between its mouth without over taxing the dog excellent for confidents I th

  43. I know a couple of smashing blokes who target shoot, but find hunting abhorrent. Just down my street, there's a lovely lady who runs a couple of greyhounds, but is a strict vegetable-ist (I found that out when my dog came trotting back with a rabbit in his mouth - that was an awkward conversation !). They're nice people, and everyone is entitled to their opinion. I want to stay friends with them, so we don't have that debate ! Simples ! Fogle is, without a doubt, a hypocrite, but it doesn't stop me watching "New Lives in the Wild".............

The youngsters have no boundaries, they are bought up with few rules and bad behaviour is seen as hilarious , in fact it’s encouraged. I’m not saying they are alll like that because some of the most honourable men I know have been from the traveling community. But the youngsters are “feral”.

  47. Has anyone stopped to consider, maybe we view the big 5 (or 8 ?) differently as we don't have them in our country. I was once told I was wrong for shooting rabbits in the numbers I did, by a shooting man, because they had no rabbits and he couldn't grasp we could shoot 100 in an evening without batting an eyelid. Do we look at elephant, rhino, lion etc, differently to the guys out there, would we look at them the same if they were native in our own lands ? I have never been big game hunting, I have done safari circuit, I know the local ways out there, I also know how valuable th
