  5. We have family in Guernsey, I love the place...some of the best kayak fishing I've ever had.. We stayed on Sark and kayaked around the island, beautiful place, a pod of dolphins topped off the experience...it was the first time my wife had been o a kayak since she sat on a beach in Lyme Regis waiting for her turn to enter the water, she was 17.. it soon became apparent the first group of her friends from her 6 form had got into serious trouble, she lost 4 good friends that day, it is still the worst single kayak incident in this country. I kayak with a good lad off of here, who is

  6. Well done David i genuinely hate that this country relys in foreign tourism when in reality , we should be cutting around here all summer when my boy is bigger I’ll be taking Him around in a van the length and breadth of this country every summer I toy with the idea of New Zealand now and again, but in reality I don’t think I could ever leave here I wear this flag everyday to work , I can’t imagine having another’s next to my skin ps like how the 30 had pen y fan on there , they want to get up there in blistering rain and wind on a winters day with a foot of cloud

  10. As said on main thread, don't buy fishing gear I have plenty to set you up. You can buy bait and extra bits and bobs on site, it's a well stocked shop. Plus the owner of the place owns another big tackle shop 20 minutes away which he can get you any other fishing bits if anyone needs anything. For essentials there is a small Tescos in the village. You'll need a tent and standard camping stuff obviously... Don't be too worried though mate, it's Devon not the moon lol There is a Go Outdoors 10 mins away if you need it I'll take you there on the Friday.. Cheers

  11. We mostly feed the raw flesh, chicken carcass, and polo pony,..etc,...so of late, we have found it best to avoid the wasps and offer up the meat, after dark. Hornets fly at night, but the wasps are usually tucked up in bed, making the ribs and bones far safer for the lurchers.?

  13. The good old bad old days,we used to go all over, fanatic rabbiters, caithness, sutherland, perthshire, she borders, weardale, teesdale, north Yorkshire, malham, all over the dales,i think it would be very difficult to replicate those days down here in the south even if you had the inclination, our dogs wer average, but the ground was ideal and rabbit numbers were ridiculous.

  22. I visited the litter sired by my bull whippet dog. There was some cracking pups there. The mother of the pups is nearly full greyhound just a touch of bull. She’s a top class fox bitch, owned by a very good pal. Anyway here’s the pups I picked. Dog on the right bitch on the left. They are 4 weeks old so another few weeks until they join me.

  30. My 223 Tikka T3 1-12" didn't like hornady 53grn ammo, odd ones used to tumble. I tried federal premium 40grn and they were ok in it but at £29 a box 6 years ago they where expensive. Then i bought a Tikka supervarmint in .204 to try and i liked it a lot. I bought all the reloading gear for £200 s/h and very quickly found a load that puts bullet on bullet at 100yds. The reloads cost me about 40p each and i have hundreds of cases once fired from mates who don't reload and have binned their 223s in favour of 204. I sold my 223 about 5 years ago and bought another Supervarmint 204 for day ti

  32. There will be hundreds of keepers up and down the country putting tens of miles a day into their spaniels, heat or not, starting very shortly. I think you just have to judge how the dog is responding to the heat, ensure it's regularly getting a swim in a water course or cattle trough and taking on plenty of fluid too. Some dogs handle heat well and it don't always make sense regarding coat either. The truth probably is that dogs that are used to working in such weather probably adapt to it.

  33. Short answer no I doubt it, Most of the things in my life would fail to meet modern rules and regulations but I was born when people took responsibility for there own actions so that's how I still live, apparently you can even get a certificate from your chimney sweep to say he,s brushed it properly, but a set of brush,s were cheaper, so I sweep it myself, it's been sat like that for 10/15 years or more and gets roasted every winter so I think it will be ok, the oak it's sat on is over 100 years old and is more like concrete than wood, done 2 chains just cutting it up, but like I said, I don't

  39. I was quoting Morton who said he flushes fox after fox from cover and that’s why I said he flushes more foxes than a mounted pack.I was making a comparison between Lucas & bedlington terriers as I’ve owned and worked both ,I don’t believe I am ridiculing Morton more I am questioning some of his claims.Morton is A very passionate man with regards his Bedlingtons he’s not scared to say what he believes is right which I like but I am also not scared to say what I think but there’s no harm ment.
