Well in just over a year I truly have a wildlife pond. It's amazed me how quick nature has taken over. Reeds are established water level and colour settled. We have had heron, kingfisher, ducks with babies, moor hen with babies, newts, frogs, toads, water snails, all the pond bugs boatman diving beetle etc, dragon flies. It's brilliant. Just had ten mins sat by side of it with a cider watch in nature...7 points

I've only had one kelpie/collie x greyhound so can't really comment on them in that respect. However, I've had four pure kelpies and, of my current two, one will catch (but his natural tendency is more to point and flush or herd) but the other loves getting hold of stuff. She's coming up for eleven and caught a pair of rats in the garden this week then, when my neighbour spotted another in hers the next day, she popped round to borrow her while I was at work. She said that, although she was impressed at how she pointed, flushed and killed it, she was more amazed at how she then simply dropped5 points

Told this before but it worthy of repeating. Years ago stopped off @service station with a mate to get a breakfast. As I paid for it bought those wee packet of digestive biscuits the 3pack. Only table available was one with a lorry driver sat at it. Mate and me sat down munched our breakie I was reading the paper waiting on my mate finishing his tea. The f***ing next thing this lorry driver reaches over lifts the pack f digestives opens them and takes a biscuit. I thought what a f***ing cheek! But said f**k all just kept reading paper. 5mins later he takes another one out5 points

Sunday morning checking through the emails and I came across this little gem. It's a 14-minute clip from an interview with former KGB operative and defector Yuri Bezmenov, cast in (ironically) 1984. In this highlighted clip he explained the KGB's role in subverting nations by stacking academia with leftists in order to change the opinions of students and to show the benefits of a large governmental system thus making them ripe for taking over. The demoralization process can take a couple of decades as the whole concept revolves around changing the attitudes of an entire generati4 points

From the Doghouse to the Big House Some may remember about a month ago I met up with a young man I now call Jonesy, who contacted me via social media looking for advice on the art of ferreting, Jonesy now frequents some of my days in the field, the best part is, that he now takes his kids out to enjoy it too. When we first met he already had a few young ferrets, (now all working) one in particular was Dozer a young Hob, no older than I would say 5 months, and he was a savage a ferret toward humans as I have ever encountered in my 40 + years of owning them. It was a big day for4 points

I’ve a good few terriers and I can let them all out at once without to much hassle but I put that down to socializing them when there young. Personally I’ve never seen a good fighter all I’ve seen have been afraid of the dark but would fight with a dog in a heart beat. Personally I hate that type4 points

Another one was on this site. There was a bloke used to come on here and do all these really bizarre, nonsensical football predictions and tactical analysis type posts. Talking about non existent rivalry’s between clubs that had no type of bond whatsoever. He would make up all these fantasy’s about players and managers the club he follows should employ even though they ain’t got a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of. I used to feel really sorry for the poor sod because everyone just made fun of him.3 points

I think I've mentioned it on here before ... we were in Canada up in the rockies and one of the lads had gone out for a run and a woman pulled up in a 4x4 and told him to get in ... he asked why and she pointed out a cougar in the tree line that was stalking him ......3 points

Yeah that's true and false. lol I've seen some very nice dogs stuck with terrible trainer/handlers. Honestly these poor dogs could do with a lot less time with these fools. ATB3 points

Putting a tiny pup alone in a kennel in a strange place is asking for problems. She needs to be with you, not shut away on her own. 90% of the sort of problems you're having would not happen if the pup was able to cuddle up to someone. Dogs are social creatures, so being isolated is so terrifying: she has lost the security of her litter mates. You are a giant in a strange land. Some pups are more needy and worried than others, but to think that kennelling a pup alone will 'toughen it up' is an outmoded and cruel way of doing things. Keeping a puppy with you, letting it fall asleep on your lap3 points

Hello, for edc, whittling and desk knife I made this gents knife. Not 100% finished yet, as I need to do some fine tuning and the sterling silver pin in the handle. 88mm wharncliffe blade from 1.3505 silver soldered guard from 1.2510 11cm handle from warthog ivory with a mammoth spacer. I wanted to do the entire handle from ivory, but the warthog had a deep crack so I needed to insert the spacer to reach the desired 11cm. Regards Nicolas2 points

Had 2 hours out this morning on a field that was drilled last week with a few crow decoys. Put the decoys out in a random pattern and set the hide up under a tree. Started really good shooting wise with four jackdaws for four shots. After that everything went back to normal and started missing some easy ones. Around 11 o'clock the temperature was scorching and all the birds stopped coming in, so I packed up and done a few jobs on the farm Ended the morning with a total of 16 jackdaws, not much, but better than watching the wedding2 points

Appreciate the info. I Managed to find an ex greyhound bone man who knew his stuff and I'm glad I did as the cause was a shoulder issue. It was slightly out and he put it back in. Did an overall check on him too and clicked a few others spots into place. Dog is back to his happy self, even better! Can't recommend a good boneman enough!!!2 points

? I would think that the original poster's head is spinning... So much in-depth information and data, ...presented to us, in a most erudite manner. It must be comforting to look upon a canine pal in such an analytical and logical way... Personally, I still believe that certain dogs do have a genuine affection and close bond with their owners... Likewise, I genuinely enjoy, being around my own hunting partner,..we have great fun and life is a gas. Possibly, I am thinking along anthropomorphic lines, and maybe a contemporary student of training methods or a canine behav2 points
