  1. ? Thought-provoking queries ...that is what I like to hear... I'm no authority on the breed,..but what l I can say, is that Australian Cattle Dogs, exhibit several wild dog traits, that are different from other types, that I have kept. They are naturally suspicious of strangers, even when brought up in a family environment.... This is a completely different behaviour pattern, to that, exhibited by specialist-bred guard/protection type breeds. My own Cattle dog hybrids were no problem, once you had introduced them to new folk, and strange dogs... Once you were in thei

  2. Wild Bird, Genuine People who work terriers concerned with the welfare of their working stock will usually have a local vet that understands the necessity of docking working dogs as was proven in the Scottish Report on Tail Docking. The problem lads would have giving out names of vets who dock to strangers on the WWW is that it is not out of the ordinary for ANTIs to be asking such questions and follow up ringing (harassing the Vets) and threatening them and actively trying to ruin the business and customer base. Sadly this is the world we live in where the bleeding heart Antis

  5. Hopefully these few old pictures and some of recollections from my early teens (the late 1950’s and early 1960’s) may be of some interest. They’re all old style “rag whippets” and pre date the requirement for a whippet to be registered with the Kennel Club in order to enter a race. Typically these dogs ran from about 14-20 lbs (sometimes smaller) and anything past say the mid 20’s would be questioned as to whether it was actually a true whippet (rather than maybe a whippet x greyhound). At that time, my father ran a “drinkers pub” in the heart of the Black Country (aka the Industrial Midl

  8. theres one little bitch ,she was on the wrong side of the bitch yesterday ,all the litter were feeding but she was behind the dams rear legs ,and she made a monumental effort to crawl through her two back legs, into the heap and got herself a teat to feed on ...i just thought theis little bitch is determined anyway ,..but overthe next few weeks i will study them and see what catches my eye.. in fairness, and not because its my litter ,but they are all fine fat sturdy little whelps ...

  18. Hear a lot about the great dogs of back along, I can go back fifty years and remember a lot more shite stuff than good. Back then reputation was mainly word of mouth and we all know how Chinese whispers grow. Remember a local "legend" 1st cross saluki I saw, supposed to be something special but saw it miss 3 in a row on stubble. He excused it saying he had caught 2 the week before lol. From that point I started to take less note of experts ? "The past always looks better than it was. It's only pleasant because it isn't here." (Finley Peter Dunne)

  19. Wild bird..... I'm afraid there appears to be more than a little confusion here. There's not a vet in the country who would dock your pup once it gets past 5 days old, it would be illegal for them to do so and they would most certainly lose their license to practice. It should have been done at between 3 and 5 days of age. The only exception to that would be, if it was necessarily performed in order to treat an existing injury (typically a tail injury). Other completely unrelated procedures such as spaying etc do not feature in the equation. I hope this helps clarify matters - B

  24. It’s to do with the fact the thc is the bit that gets you stoned, it’s not a case of wanting to go to criminals but the cbd oil that everyone is on is a modern placebo in most cases, I think epileptics and cancer patients need the thc content, if your not willing to talk to someone on the dark side you may as well go to Tesco and by a litre of pure hemp oil probably has more cbd than the diluted shite being sold in Holland and Barrett for extortionate prices ??

  30. Well the novelty of been a part time keeper for the shoot members has worn off already, trying to get people to go up to feed has proved impossible so it looks like it’s left to the 3 of us again, I don’t understand some people you even get to ride around on the quad looking important, the birds seemed to have settled in well with just a couple dead in each pen, with no real rain forecast for the next week or so all they have to do is eat, drink and bask in the sunshine ?

  35. Used to like watching Bob Ross painting his landscapes, and when I retired I bought a set of his paints and brushes and had a go, it's a relatively easy technique for anyone wishing to give oil painting a go. People refer to it as the 'Bob Ross' technique, but it's actually based on an artist he learned from called Bill Alexander. Don't be fooled by his soft spoken demeanour, he did 20 years in the US military mostly based in Alaska and attained the rank of Master Sergeant, the guy who bawled and screamed at everyone, and he decided that when he retired he would no longer bawl and scream

  36. Seriously, every rough ass country town around here has heelers in compounds around businesses. The dogs have an inbuilt hated of indigenous people, which seem to do most of the thieving.I had a straight cross heeler/dingo I bought to protect my kids when young.I ended up having to lock it away from them for their safety.I ended up giving it to a rural fencing bloke, and turned out perfect to protect his ute when in town.
