Just phoned my RFD to chat over a couple of things when he tells me that a chap came in the shop looking for an air rifle but really had no comfort when holding the gun, after asking what he wanted the gun for, the man replied that he has some land he rents out and there are hundreds of rabbits causing a real issue with the wheat crop. It was suggested that buying a rifle is not the answer and would need a fair amount of practice before trying to reduce the rabbit population and instead of going that route, would he like someone to take care of the problem which will be more effective fro7 points

I've only ever thought of Gove as an odious, back-stabbing little pr4t........... ........but, I happened to put the news on, as that was being broadcast live - and I have to hold my hands up, and admit that was magnificent ! That's the kind of soaring oratory that's so sadly missing from British politics, in recent years !6 points

in 2008 I went to California with Work . As we left LA I kinda realised where we were in the truck, a road sign with “Crenshaw avenue” proved too much temptation for a photo and I made us stop to get a quick snap. The same lads who laughed then are now all of a sudden the worlds authority on nwa. I love hip hop and rap music , I’m from a very rural Cumbrian town. I went to a school with less than 200 pupils . Never shot anyone , never referred to any one as a homie . Or a woman as a bitch5 points

To me 243 is a cross over calibre, a one rifle do all. If you already have a 223 why not go for something a bit bigger and arguably more appropriate as a dedicated deer calibre? Someone will have a f***ing breakdown now because I have suggested a different calibre. Sorry5 points

My God there's some sheep on here all rollover on yer backs for the council this is why the country is fucke d everyone rolls over and let's them control of everyone pulled together see be stronger and have more of a say. Look at what we pay in taxes and what gets done to benefit us.... NOTHING. Look at fuel prices all it takes is everyone to not use a car for a week they'd soon put prices down look at the state of a lot of council ground most of it gets left the man's tried doing something the council should be doing anyway I personally dont see a problem with what he's done its not cost the5 points

Pretty much in the very same situation stiff, 3 kids wife had to give up a decent well paid job and only my wage coming in now to cover all the bills, can be real fcuking tough going at times. If there’s food in the cupboards and heat in the house we’ll get by alright.3 points

Thanks for all the comments/advice/replies and support... I have spoken to numerous professionals and associations etc about my situation, to cut things short, although my intentions are for the right reasons the council aren’t willing to back down and informed me that I don’t have permission and even if I had have seeked it, it would have been declined due to public liability, it not being accessible to wheelchair users and so on. I am going to take everything down this weekend but carry on feeding for the next few months until spring and when natural food is more readily available.3 points

I’ve not been finding much in the ground yet . I’ve no doubt modern technology has played a significant part in reducing numbers. Lamping with a rifle or night vision / thermal has played a big part in this . It’s become a sport in its own right . There is talk on this thread about restrictions on who can use this kind of equipment. That kind of interference would be of no benefit , it would only mean more meddling by politicians and city folk. I raised concerns on this very subject on the rifle forum . I suggested that only foxes that are actually causing harm and nuisance should be controlle3 points

Since I started watching Meat Eater on Netflix it's put me off these outdoorsman type reality shows. There's no BS drama with Steve Rinella.3 points

The replacement rifle was the sniper version with the PU scope and don't forget the temperature is probably -20c or lower and windy, long range and running target. You don't shoot, you don't get and if you don't get, you and your kids starve !! most people try to get minute accuracy but the type of game animal that they hunt is that big that the 2ft area shot is good enough. I like to get 5 shots on a 50p piece but any old stovepipe is good enough to put a round into the engine room of a caribou or Mouse. at the end of the day they are just harvesting. those old Moisin Nagants are a very str3 points

So, by all accounts, it's only the Torys and UDP that are trying to respect Brexit. By trying to appease both leavers and remoaners, Theresa May was on a hiding to nothing before she even started. All the other party's want/insisting on a no to a no deal Brexit. I hope all the constituents from each and every party get to find out who went back on their wishes and vote them out next time around.3 points

Watching some YouTube videos today - Mike Tyson in his early 20s would have buried Tyson Fury - that lad was so hungry for it that no one was going to hold him back Fury is ok for now but, back then he would have been hospitalised - I'm convinced that he couldn't have stood up to Holyfield, Bruno, Spinks ot Holmes,. They were just a different class. Let alone the likes of Ali and Cooper2 points

It was years ago. May ordered a review of regulations amid concerns they wernt tough enough. Numerous academics contributed. One suggested that people with convictions for sex offences shouldn't automatically be barred once convictions are spent. Given you may have an old conviction for doing a drunken naked streak years ago it's hardly suggesting giving nonces kids to adopt. Truth- may orders review Newspaper headline - may told pedophiles can adopt Voting public- may says pedophiles to be given access to kids Perfect example of why Britain is f****d2 points
