  1. I'd like to restock some land with hares, but I'd rather net them then relocate, but I reckon any opportunity to put something back would be a good thing, whether captive bred or otherwise

  9. I've been lucky enough to be taken pig hunting in 2 countries, I have chased pigs, stuck pigs and carried pigs but I don't believe I have anywhere near enough experience to have an opinion on pig dogs. I was basically a tourist. How anyone can have such an entrenched opinion based purely on what they've read on the Internet and never actually done amazes me.

  15. Christ y'all sometimes I think my old man done jumped off the deep end . Apparently his new thing is trying to basically tame a sounder of smaller wild hogs into brush clearing work and tilling ? Basically he's been throwing deer corn and old sweet feed out into brush he wants gone and in places he wants tilled up. The hogs go in and do there thing while trying to get the food. And its actually been working really well . Well... It's gotten to the point they figured out if they follow the cows there's usually food and since dad never shoots them.....well he sent me this this morning

It just started when I left, the up side to the rain is it keeps the fly’s down, they were mental up there today I put a couple of drinking butts out today along with the camera, I normally do this in the spring but never got around to it this year, everything uses them so it’s a cracking way to see what’s about, there was a couple of fallow doe’s walking the edge of the oats about 20 yards from where I’ve set the camera so fingers crossed that a buck puts in an appearance

  22. In this part of Leicestershire their has been Black Rabbits since the 1930s when they were first introduced by Farmers to improve the quality off the Fur and increase the meat yield, Black Rex does were used the first season and Bucks were released the following year , the Does that were used were picked out because they were aggressive which is the opposite of what you need in tame Rabbits. I have caught Black Rabbits in this area for over 60 years and never saw a Black one with Mixi though i have caught them with it in other places. The owner of this farm caught 300 Rabbits a Week f

  26. Might I ask how pigs you have killed or ran dogs with ? I'm just going to comment on one major mistake I see wrong with your post ,that is dog usually gets killed before they know they are headed for the happy hunting ground ,now its not fact that a dog gets killed with the first or second blow or even the 9th ,the time line they get killed at can be anytime ,from the start of the attack to the end ,bad luck can play a part in all this . You have given a example of the great Dane ,you would need to search for a very long time to find a Great Dane or even a Dane x because kiwi hunters don't r

  29. In my eyes there's two big problems, accountants and the entitlement culture. Accountants get hold of what started off as a good idea, carbon offsetting, environmental subsidy schemes, green energy etc, and immediately pick it to pieces and find loopholes in it to either make or save money. It becomes a tick box exercise and the positive gain it was supposed to achieve is lost. The entitlement culture means people don't appreciate food and aren't willing to pay what it costs to produce in a more sustainable way. They believe its their due, along with latest phones, massive TV, new ca

  30. The whole thing is a con. Britain is responsible for 1.1% of global emissions, if we went carbon neutral tomorrow we would make fck all difference. Yet are we putting any pressure on global polluters to stop it? Are we fck. We are filling their order books! We have destroyed our steel industry because its dirty and uses lots of energy, are we using less steel ?. No we just import it from the other side of the world! We are taking petrol and diesel cars of the road. When we passed our tests we drove 250 quid bangers and learnt to keep em going by visiting the scrap yard. Now when a

  34. great reasoning mate . I think that resonance possibly shows itself in the retalicant nature Of some of the most primal of dogs . Look at the average saluki , I actually hate it when people call them thick , they certainly can test you ?? but I think they have evolved slowly , glacially , they aren’t the sit stay move find bite snap hold companion that a springer or a mallnois are . But they have changed imperceptibly from biblical times accompanying nomads and sheiks alike into the hunting field . does that imbued sense of economy , that drifting away stares of somet

  37. You’ve never hunted pigs have you ? Trust me when the dog didn’t accidentally run into a tree, the pig didn’t accidentally fall over on top of the dog. It got in front of the pig and took hold and the pig manouvered itself into a position where it could repeatedly slam the dog that was attached to it into the tree until the dog was pulp. To me a dog that is game in a hubting sense is one that will go head first into a bigger, harder oponant that wants to kill it, without a thought to self preservation.

  38. I wouldn’t worry too much mate, great answer, but you’re arguing with folk on THL. There is a long pedigree on here of people being experts on hunting a quarry they have never hunted, with dogs they have never seen, in a country they’ve never been to. They are right though, for deffo.
