I called into a pub one afternoon when over there, well several pubs but no all on the same day. I have no idea where it was as some days I would just set off on my own with no plan or agenda. I almost passed through one of those beautiful but tiny villages where if you blink you've passed through it and out the other side. Spotted a pub and decided to call in. I had a dog with me. A white terrier of typical stamp, 14" 18lb and smooth coat. I walked in and ordered a pint, had a bit craic with the few people who were in there and got the usual "we don't get many Welsh people in here". I th4 points

though the lurchers are sound with sheep, I always like to let them chill with them every other month, they both been round stock since they were 9 weeks old, Buck brill, I've had lambs before follow him around lol, and yet flick of switch in his head he full on to his quarry, few years ago he went flat out after a fox, that was hanging about watching the young lambs, that's how you want any lurchers, old Bryn the same, but not little woody, carnt trust him with any stock, he twat with horses never feckin sheep lol, he was rescue dog before my son had him then me, we think he about 11, h4 points

I think the saluki strain in this country has developed alot in the past years theres has been alot of fresh blood brought over from over seas , pures are still owned and worked in this Country imo nero the pure has produced some cracking dogs out of Pure and to saluki lurcher , unfortunately most men are stuck in they old ways and still would not chance in working a pure (why change when the saluki lurcher are doing the job ) . Iv seen and heard of a few pure that have been running well and producing well, iv seen alot of lads now that are crossing they dogs or bitchs back to a pures and pro4 points

too true. for us it was a steady progression from bird nesting to catapults, (gadders we call them), to gatt guns on to air rifles. then a mix of folding four tens and. .22 rifles. happy days.3 points

I will never forget when Katchum, his cousin and me went to Harewood lol Katch's cousin brought his wee boy, In the morning he walked up to the tent with the kid, shaking his head and looking sad.. I said what's up and his reply (I'll never forget) it was like wiping a crayon ???3 points

Your dog is off of Whins dog Rex and Haymins bitch Mist. Was a big litter, 13, JohnnyBoy had the smallest bitch, a real racy looking dog that could shift im not sure how much he done with her to be honest...Walshie had the biggest dog, it was a monster proper lump... I think Socks Dad had a real nice looking big dog as well and Sid G off here had a real nice looking bitch..can't say who done what with them as I don't know..Haymin kept back a nice looking bitch that I know worked well ... He picked my bitch out for me at 3 weeks old, I chose another bitch but when we got there the one3 points

I think there’s a big difference between stock broken and being comfortable with sheep , some dogs just avoid sheep and stop if sheep are in the way , here dogs have to be happy enough to move through them and keep going while there’s sheep running about , seen my young bitch jump over a sheep before now3 points

Almost everybody underestimates them, until they've seen a couple of good ones in action. Alluding to what you say, being comparativlely smaller, lighter and less 'macho' for want of a better a better word, makes a lot of people think they aren't capable of doing much in the field. Me, I've seen what they can do time and time again. I love the little beggars! ?3 points

Will take years mate, been doing the same with air guns for years, always highlight the negatives and slowly build your case, a man killing a pigeon with a catty is a good thing in my eyes not a negative, ??3 points

If you did have permission, get it in writing. Your memory is that short, its like chatting with a goldfish. Which is apt given your preference for the wet.3 points

Locally, we all had whippets,...and we all managed to kill a few hares... Good old times...? Actually,..when you look at the jukels all around our beautiful Island,...the Whippet influence has been phenomenal...The inclusion of these diminutive speedsters within many lurcher types really does make for an attractive and exceptionally useful, rabbiting helper.... ?3 points

There is a saying in New Zealand ??, you can only kill em once ,and this has paned out as perdicted ,my totally tally was 20 rabbits on the trip before this latest visit ,this trip only netted 8 .A huge far cry from the 350 I was killing 3 years ago .2 points

Nearly 12 months now and showing all the right signs with the few bits he has done. He has definitely thrown more to the saluki than razor in his build but is the easiest and most biddable pup iv ever had, a real nice dog to have around. Winter seems like a long way off right now but it will soon be here and I can't wait to see what he turns out like.2 points
