? Personally,..I believe that the initial hybridisation twixt two different types , whilst being more than satisfactory for most enthusiasts, invariably tempt many of us to go to the next stage, and try to produce, something better. I've attempted to create a superior end-product on several occasions, but my results have not always been better than the first attempts. Yes, I've admittedly gone up a notch speed-wise and even in stature,..but, sometimes I've felt that it had been a bit of a waste of time.? The one thing that any sane and sensible running dog/lurcher enthusiast should always14 points

I’m even more confused now, is it just me or does this Carl seem strange to anyone else, definitely not the full shilling, I can’t believe what I’m reading on some of his posts ??8 points

What I did was I told you a story that’s true and there are other witnesses on here. The bitch in question caught all of those things, she was never ever a hare dog, she just had a big enough heart to stop the odd one or two. She could however kill deer, rabbits and more foxes and other things than I care to remember. She wasn’t owned by me, but by another member on here, who you’ve already tried to belittle once, and she was seen in action by a handful on here. She was mother to the dog I lost last year and is grand mother to my current pup. If you’re gonna start calling me a liar cos it does7 points

Gents, it’s with a heavy heart I pass on the sad news that Ger O’Donoghue (p3d on here)has passed away. He battled bravely but finally lost the battle. Ger was a true gentleman and honest human being. An extremely knowledgeable man on so many things in life . The effort Ger put into the IWTF and protecting Terrierwork will never be forgotten and I don’t think people will ever realise the impact he made to our cause. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this sad time. RIP. Ger.6 points

Has anyone else noticed that nipples seem to be in fashion? Spent a few hours in Newcastle today and it was quite bizarre the number of lasses walking about not wearing a bra. Hasn't got anything to do with whippet x greyhounds but just wanted to mention it.5 points

Alarm set for 3am , I must be mad ? Arrived at perm not long after 3.30 and headed for some rough ground where I have seen a couple of bucks but nothing about except a doe staring at me through the cow parsley. Headed to other end of ground and spotted a buck in some high vegetation, watched him for some time hoping to present a shot but he just kept moving and wouldnt present a nice shot , eventually disappearing into a group of trees. I waited at the other side hoping he would reappear which he did about 5 minutes later ? I was ready on the quads but he was walking constantly so I gave him5 points

Here's a wee first X wheaten...out X by the greyhound side... But the out X was actually a granddaughter of original site... 13 months old broken to stock... First time out ferreting...bolted 8 she caught 4 .. by end of day she was listening... Marking and not chewing them up but catching and just sitting... Was great to watch to be honest... But it's in her whole linage if that makes sense ?4 points

I'm out of here I started this thread to get folks opinions on first xs and what the xs can and do give on there own or as a starting point to put something else to it , most have given honest answers but for some its turned into another slaging match and this is why this forum going down hill and putting lads off posting as whats the point if all certain people can say my x the best the rest is rubbish and start calling each other on open forum . Have a good evening Atvb to you all Mooch4 points

Preposterous, sir poxon!! Magoo is trying his best to ensure all of us will see the only dog to have is a saluki cross/type. After all, they can catch hares, any hares, better than any other dog, catch rabbits as good as any other dog, catch foxes as good as any other dog and catch deer better than almost any other dog. Why on earth does anyone need any other type of running dog?!4 points

TOMO.......don't you dare try and destroy our heritage lol, Here goes ............... during the napoleonic war a french ship went down off the coast of Hartlepool with no survivors except for one little hairy fecker, so the good folk of Hartlepool pulled this invader out from the sea and set about asking one or two questions, now three things got this thing convicted. The uniform that was worn was not English............so had to be French When asked a question the reply was some what gibberish lol.........so not English............must be French Now the good old folk o4 points

I watched the lunchtime news today . I had a little chuckle to myself as I watched Macron getting off his plane . There to welcome him were some guardsmen, resplendent in their bearskins and red tunics . I wonder if it was deliberate as a f@ck you to the French ? The reason I say this as having been a member of the household division many years ago , we had to learn regimental history and the Grenadiers ( then the 1st Foot) took the Bearskins and their name off Napoleons defeated elite grenadiers at the battle of Waterloo. For my part I hope it was deliberate and that it wasn’t lost on the “4 points

I’ve been laying bricks and stone for about 30 years but never been asked to do this before! thought I’d post it because I’m well impressed with the finish and if I ever get asked by a customer about it I’ll recommend it… it’s a pice of piss to do as well not beyond a confident diy’ers ability, as long as the rendered walls sound. its just glorified tiling set me starter battern to the finished height so there aren’t any dodgy cuts at the top then filled in below, I cut up some spacer pegs from an old fence panel… and dot n dabbed the stone pieces on with mapie stone adhesiv3 points

This whole question depends on where you run your dog what your going to hunt then what are you looking for in your dog now for me it's got to be half bull half grey reason being I love the temperament they have I have the drive and the gameness you get a decent 1 there like shit off a shovel there not gonna be on long dog levels but if you've got a goodun you've got a goodun racey athletic and stamina to boot but remember you've got to source something decent nothing of labrador breeding either ?3 points
-
First x bulls are decent because there not as heavy as the line bred halfxs so I find the first x a tad faster then when you start doing 3rd 4th generation half x etc.. Seen a few first x saluki out of that Khan jihad but wasn't worth a wank tbh and I had a first x Beddy bitch break a ditch in two halfs for a rabbit on the lamp just lacked the size for continuous fox work, but I run mainly fox so it's a bull x or Wheaton x for me but obviously depends on what your running.3 points

aye i will be pleased to see it sorted to your standard Jimmy. I was given it a few years back, it was seazed up, i got new spring and other bits and got it working, not to your standard though. I havent been using it so i thought if you would have liked to have a go at it then gift it to a new starter that would be great for me, i am not the type of fella to sell on something i was given, i believe in being right by folk and am totaly happy for it to land in the hands of a newbie to the game. thank you Jimmy for taking it on and i look forward to seeing the results.3 points

You don’t half talk some shite mate. Without wanting to get into it too much, it’s a bit like saying your saluki crosses are gutless plodders with about as much brain as a rock and the recall of a blind newt.3 points

I see some cracking bull xs and this post was never about the best type over all as they no such thing and you should no that if you been into lurchers like you say ,its about what first x would lads have and why , we all have different xs but be good to hear what others say instead of you saying all types are useless apart from sal bred dogs3 points

It's story telling at its finest. They clearly don't believe it as they are part of the author class behind it. But the people in general believe it and that's all that matters. Next story on the agenda, G7. Titled 'The climate monster needs more money from those that are already struggling and then climate change will likely improve.' ? It's all been done before.3 points

Nah, I won't be putting an order in for one of his dogs. I don't think he's really made his mind up yet, as to what 'line' of longdogs he intends breeding. Blathers on about 'bowline' whippet/greyhounds, then on another thread/post he's singing the praises of deerhound/greyhounds, then on another thread he's waxing lyrical about saluki/greyhounds! Poor c**t don't know which direction he's walking! Lol ?3 points

after few minutes misses looses ground just gears up mate thats speed and stamina you dont see often mate ?3 points
-
that's a hell of a dog. nothing compares to the specialist bred coursing dogs, unbelievable stamina. for me I like to see a little speedster catch it or miss it in the 1st 200 yards. but I am a mooch about old fart not a coursing lad.3 points

I'm not judging. I'm not having the vaccine. I'm young (ish), fairly fit and healthy. Make your own mind up and do what's best for you. I actually have some agreement with the anti vaxers and the recent anti lockdown campaigners. Unfortunately I couldn't join their protests because a majority of them are fckin loonies and have mental health issues.3 points

If I’m honest I like a bit of everything, it would get boring doing the same thing every time. I do go through phases and I’m always out day and night. But it really is hard to beat just mooching about a good bit of land with some nice cover and plenty of game, knocking bits out and having a few runs, both great on your own with the dogs and with a couple of mates and a little pack. One day when it’s all knackered the last thing we will be able to do is go for a little mooch and knock a few rabbits out of the brambles, sad as it may sound!3 points

Calm down sausage, not directed at you personally?..I was shown how to do things the right way...I can count on one hand the people I knock around with, that's why I lasted so long ,when the Muppets all around me's doors was going through ? I known a few youngsters that would put most the old boys to shame...just because you got a 50 yr old head on your shoulders, don't make you wise, every days a school day ??2 points
-
Always been a few bad apples in the cart and you can not just blame the youngsters as plenty older lads give the lurcher game a bad name ,driving across land they have no right to be on and smashing gates and stealing equipment and threats to land owners , I grew up around some good men and all poached to put food on table but they all had one thing in common they got on with it as quickly and quietly as possible and it wasn't something to brag about it was a nesserty not a hobby . Times have changed for the worse and soon they will ban all kinds of hunting with dogs ,2 points

Enough of you old boys f****d the digging/running game 80/90's.depends on who got you started?..cook report, news of the world etc..f***ing 80% of folks on here only born late 80s early 90s and plenty more only took up hunting when it was made illegal...they the silly cnuts that bump their gums the loudest on here?2 points
