Got the call from the farmer saying the last couple of nights the geese have been playing up after dark ( I wonder why ) . So I get to the perm and set my self up at 150 yards from the pen , all ready just a waiting game now and 3/4 of a hour the dog turns up and gets a 55g v max then 1/2 after that I see a smaller one in the xq38 and obviously a vixen took the shot and down she went , all good ! But on retrieving the carcass she was milky , so there are Cubs about somewhere so I’m off out early tomorrow with the dog to try and find the earth , i just don’t like the idea of them been left with9 points

After spotting 4 last week but drawing a blank, I was determined last night. Left the house with my 8yr old saying "I want to see pictures of any foxes tomorrow" so I couldn't let her down! Upon arriving at farm/work got unloaded and made my way to first field. This field is where we turn ewes with lambs out into, so have to be pretty careful on ID with thermal. As I approach gate (knowing its a creaky one) I get XM30s out for a spot. This field leads down on far side to a small pond lined with trees & then next door drilled field. Right away I spot charlie mooching about by pond. It7 points

Harrises can do that too.I see he chucked a lure out for it rather than making in and trading off ???.Youd be surprised the teamwork you can have hunting with a Harris as they naturally hunt in packs in the wild.I used to cast mine off and theyd fly from tree to tree over my dogs waiting for the dogs to bump something out of cover.4 points

You here all the talk of golies taking deer and foxes but truth be known 95%of them being flown over here have never caught anything bigger than a hare and they miss a big percentage of them.Seen more exciting flights watching little 1.6lb male hawk flying rabbits. In fact some of the best sport ive seen is merlins flying skylarks4 points

I think Harrises are under rated mate.I think they get a bird name because they are so forgiving that a lot of idiots get away with keeping them so a lot of people dont get to see them perform to their full potential wheras the same idiots would either loose or kill a gos.But a harris conditioned right and flown hard and regular aint no slouch and is probably more versatile than most other species out there.3 points

Can be right aggresive, spiteful c**ts too.to be fair they cant really do anything a decent harris wont do.Might be a bit better suited if you're flying lots of hares but unless you are on the hares all the time I dont think its worh the stroppines and higher risk of getting footed in the face3 points

Out and about again, today with Graham, we went to a spot I was asked to take a look at by one of the local property owners so it was new ground for me, had a lot of laughs, the ferrets worked well and we got a few rabbits for the esky. Big thanks to Graham, another great day. Enjoy guys.3 points

Thought I’d give the shoot a go this evening, I arrived a good 45 minutes before my mate and when I pulled in I was greeted by a lovely looking roe buck, having a bit of time to kill I thought I’d have a walk towards the piggeries drive to see if I could see where he went, sure enough he popped out just at the end of the ride, a very smart looking beast. After watching him for a few minutes I walked the back of the pen on my way back to the farm to meet my mate, shooting a couple of tree rats on the way with the little.17, back at the farm I gave my mate the .17 and I picked up the.223 and we3 points

Good to read that mate. Anyway, you're starting to cost me money, my man! Inspired by your texts, I've been 'actively' searching out not just 'al's kitchen, for more curries, but, inspired by your recent book purchase, about the foxes, I did the same, and took delivery of Robin Page's 'the fox and the orchid' 2nd edition, a few days ago. Been meaning to get it for years, but life has a habit of getting in the way. Yet to read it, but mrs gave birth to our youngest lad on 9th march, a month early, so probably won't get to read it for a while yet lol.3 points

Kind of agree, but, unless we can mentally and/or physically torture these animals daily, like the pain the poor families suffer, then might as well just destroy them like you would a dog that bites. No reason why they should live and cost us another penny, if it doesn’t make the family feel any more like they’ve got ‘justice’. Maybe let the victim’s families decide the fate..., and even swing the axe? Fcuk knows as a father I think that’s the only way I’d feel like I’d got even close to justice.3 points

So i get a call from a farmer who ive been trying to get the permission off to do the woodies for about 4 years now, approx 1500 acres he says just drilled beans & oats and theres woodies everywhere the fields are blue with them {yes ok i thought heard that before} so meet him at 9am he drives me around his land and gives me the maps, there a few about but nothing like he was telling me on the phone so set up a hide in the corner of a drilled bean field 1030am ish bottom of a small valley put a large pattern out of about 40 decoys no wurly no bouncers or flappers it star2 points

So, " Fox fox ", the nursing vixen, has now become so accustomed to my routine that she seems to have learned to come to the sound of certain bolts being shot, around 'The Right Time'. However, shit's in constant flux now, time wise. Light's stretching fast. I'm learning to eat when I'm hungry ~ not wait till 20:00, or what ever. I could be performing my usual tasks anywhere between 17:00 and 20:00. Couple of days ago, I was impressed to see her 'hiding' in the grass, waiting for me in very broad daylight. (Remember; I've only taken her feed out in the darkness, these last months)2 points

Yeah Ive spent some time in the company of a fella down here in kent who's very well known for his goldies and gos hawks.I couldnt think of anything worse than carrying one of them f**king things about all day to see a straight line flight at something a bird a 1/3 of the size can kill and give a lot mor exciting flight doing it.Also unless you can get right up in the highlands or somewher wher you can guarantee not to see anyone for miles id imagine they can be a bit of a liability.2 points

A man and his wife were awakened at 3:00 am by a loud pounding on the door. The man gets up and goes to the door where a drunken stranger, standing in the pouring rain, is asking for a push. "Not a chance," says the husband, "it is 3:00 in the morning!" He slams the door and returns to bed. "Who was that?" asked his wife. "Just some drunk guy asking for a push," he answers. "Did you help him?" she asks. "No, I did not, it is 3:00 in the morning and it is pouring rain out there!" "Well, you have a short memory," says his wife. "Can't you remember about thr2 points
