  1. This was the last Bill Brightmore Patterdale that I had and that's a young me in the background, this was around 1980. He gave it to me to breed from as the temperament was perfect and he worked well but he would try and kill any other dog. I worked him here in the south and sometimes in the Lakes, he suited me as I like to work alone.

  2. Went on my mates permission the other day fairly long drive but was looking forward to getting my 4.5 month old pups out for a look with the other dogs doing some coney bushing. They followed the more experienced dogs well and I was more than pleased with them for the age. Other then leaving my 160 quid Aigle wellies in a f****n layby ? it was a good day and the pups were cream crackered afterwards and deserved a good rest. Only baby steps at this stage. Sam

  4. Kids benefit from having a parent at home, there is no two ways about it. Kids don’t give a toss if you have have a Rolls Royce in the drive or are eating beans in toast. They just want some love, attention and the stability of knowing someone is always there imho However, I don’t think you can be too hard on people. When a 3 bed semi is £400,000 plus £2000 a year in taxes it don’t leave a lot of room for manoeuvring. It used to be that the image of the housewife was promoted but that has changed, when was the last time you saw something promoting being a stay at home

  6. A few deerhound greyhound collie greyhounds I've had over the years. All very capable catch dogs, the big dog in the top pic would take teeth no problem and work round the hole all day long. A litter should of been had from him but I couldn't find a suitable bitch. I lost the sandy bitch in the field before I got the chance to take a litter from her. Years of breeding in them which was lost through one thing or another.

  7. well, you said it all in the the last sentence , ( running 2 dogs on one rabbit ) your lucky it not a more serious injury . ok let your dog see another run, but leave it at that. i took my big dog out when a pup , out with my old dog few times, but never let him run the same rabbit, i kept him on the lead, and when he brought the rabbit back , let he have feel of the rabbit, when my older dog give me the rabbit, just let him know what it was , and let him know it no big deal. if it was my dog now go solo all the while now, it knows what they are , keep it simple , no big long slips, walk the

  9. My advice would be to let her mature , forget about lamping this season and work on your relationship and bond. Give it time, patience is a virtue my friend especially with dogs! All the best ?

  11. Without being to rude on the younger generation a lot of modern men are like tarts and just don’t have the minerals, my better half stopped working when my first was borne and has never gone back, I used to work 12 hrs a days 7 days a week and a couple of nights as well, I’d grab a few hours kip on the sofa and be at it again, everything comes with a price and if you want it you have to raise your game, it’s a bit like a conversation on here recently we’re born has scrimped and saved to get a house well most of his generation just moan how unfair everything is then spend a ton on a bobble hat

  13. come on you he was same as all of us.....that doesnt stop us being warey of this new jab....even today on the news two people had alergic recations to the jab... we know you all like to hate on max and pic anything he says apart.....but for some of us there are genuin revervations about this jab.... i genuinily dont understand why pro vaccine folk cant understand our reservations about something being rolled out so quick....and these two incidents yesterday prove there is a right to be weary

  14. Im not so sure. I agree with the last bit to a point, but also I think that now these high prices have been seen, the general price of dogs will be higher going forwards, at least those advertised and sold to the general public. Lads will always keep working dogs within their own circles and make them available etc.

You ran off a cliff hanging onto a hanky mate, now your full of fear from hearing other people’s experiences, not trying to discourage you just find it quite funny how easy it is to undermine people’s confidence through media, in all honesty would anyone even know there was a killer virus out there if it were not being told to us on every platform available 24/7 ?

  23. That tells you everything. You have to be the lowest of the low to walk around tooled up. Anyone see that video on Twitter the other day of that lad getting stabbed? The lad had trouble with about 5 of them and god bless him he was a game lad, he fought all 5 off and then one of the cowardly rats stabbed him in the stomach. This is how brave the poor lad was, he chased after the fcukers whilst he was bleeding out. I hope the lads family kill the cnut when he gets out of the slammer.

  25. Yep ,got to admit I get a twinge of embarrassment remembering those days ,but on the flip side ,I learnt a lot about myself and about others ,someone mentioned a right of passage ,and that's about right ,for working class youngsters , Edited to add ,regarding Millwall ,seen about twenty of them get a terrible beating at Everton in the early 70s and every single one of them went down fighting ,I think a couple of them got stabbed ,but they impressed the fk out of me .

  26. Going to places out of your locality and comfort zone and getting into tricky situations is a right of passage for many young lads, it’s how friendships are formed and bonds made. Football lads just took that mentality to football that’s all and it progressed.

  28. Wilf don't take this the wrong way but that is just the typical English man's opinion of Northern Ireland and its nationalist people, basically yous have never had it so good so shut up and do what we decide for you. That shit don't wash and never has as history dictates, the push for a united Ireland will never stop until its realised and its very nieve of you to think otherwise.

  30. This is why I think lads start dogs too soon and expect too much of them, dogs need time to mature mentally and physically, take a knock while playing. maybe taking out in the dark to something new to her and having a new owner and the fact she is only 10 months old and running her doubled up on a rabbit when she doesn't know how to run propley herself yet, maybe u have given her too much, especially having saluki in her I wouldn't be taking her lamping again this season, just let her be a pup and if u really have to take her out working take her ferreting and let her mouth a few rabbits in the

  31. How to deal with N.Ireland seems to have been the sticking point for the last two years. All things considered, I can accept this for now. It's one step towards them leaving the Union, but then they took that step already when they elected a majority of nationalists in the 2019-GE for the first time ever. I don't want to see the N.Irish leave the Union but pragmatism has to come in to it at some point.

  36. @Greyman I edited my post from last night because I'm not usually one to throw a sob story at internet strangers, and the timeline is still a little raw. I tried the PM but it said you're not accepting them so I thought, f*ck it... On December November 7th I lost my grandad to Covid. On the 9th I lost my neighbour. Three of my mates have been in intensive care with it. Two are at home on extended sick leave and I found out this afternoon that one of them is is going to be in for a while as he's having respiratory complications. I understand your perspective on it but I also have mine

  39. Several of you guys have touched on about manners which I feel are sadly lacking these days. Born in 51 we had nothing in the way of material thing really but we did have manners and nearly all the kid had them. Woe betide if you father found out you had been rude. My father spent most of his money in the pub and mother managed best she could. Started catching rabbits, fishing and poaching the odd Pheasant when I was about ten or twelve to help feed us. Father was hopeless with tools as well Saw's went rusty. Garden fork or spade was left stuck in the ground were he last used it and the handle

  40. Blimey, right here we go....... Society has been completely re-engineered in the last 70 years. Food spend used to be 50% of household budget and one parent could stay home no bother. Now food spend is 8% of household budget and both parents have to work like dogs and they still never have money spare (as a rule) None of that happened by accident. There has been a systematic transfer of wealth and the value of labour over to the state and its financial institution mates. This has happened at the expense of the family unit, the British village, the British town, t
