  3. Easy starting a topic about your club when they’re sitting top. Takes a real man to keep a thread going to over eighty pages for the 52nd best club in the country. Ahhh, now that’s Bisto ?

  5. I bought a Tikka T1x .22lr a few weeks ago and in between the heavy rain showers, I have been trying out a few different types of ammo BUT the one thing that has been in my thoughts was the position of my hand on the pistol grip which was not quite at the angle that I found completely comfortable. Now the thought of a GRS stock seemed a good move after looking at one in the RFD but at a price. Now this is on back burner at the moment although I have found a s/h one which may be suitable but nevertheless I wanted to try the alternative grip and forend that can be purchased for the T1x / T3x and

  7. I got a text from one of the young members from the shoot asking if we could go out for a bit of rabbit shooting tonight, so after weighing up my options I.e. staying in with the missus or out in the field, it was a no brainer, so I grabbed the mouse gun and off we went, now this is only the second time he has been out with the rifle and at the first fields we came to the rabbits were very jumpy in the lamp and the shots were all between 75 and 110 yards, the first 5 were all missed and a few kind words of encouragement along the lines of breath you loon, seemed to do the trick with the next t

  16. Well I got a phone call a few days ago about some rabbits being a problem on theor paddocks. Well I went up there first thing, put the Longnets out and the ferrets in. It wasn’t the easiest place to go on your own. The hedges are 10 ft wide and really thick, pushing well over 14ft tall. Only in a few places where it’s thin, you can cut a net or put donk boards through. I only managed 2x 100 yard sections today, each one opposite sides of the paddocks as requested! I’m glad I took 200 yards of longnet. They do tend to like hole hopping here, so I made up 12 x 4ft long donk boards yesterday, to

  17. At least Utd,s " what shall we win next " attitude stemmed from a lot of home grown talent....City,s " what next " attitude has been purely based on " who shall we buy next " Utd are still giants of the game....City are still 2 bob to most fans.

  19. I thought this would be the inevitable result when I read your first post. Whatever the problem was it was something there was no way out of. You acted responsibly, did your best and now all you can do is recover and plan ahead. Shit happens in life. Hope you have more luck in the future.

  20. Must be something about canal boaters, worked with one, he'd eat anything, liked a coot, was first time I tried zander, very tasty like cod! ,! 6'7" and welder fitter on a rmc plant, very talented man, built he's own broad beam canal boat, made a cello from scratch, a 4 year course, he done it in 18months whilst batching concrete, and keeping a busy plant going, and an acre allotment on site that fed us all, come from the fens!

  21. Folk get into their heads that certain breeds are only capable of certain jobs. It's not the dog's fault if it's only used for certain tasks...... it's the bloke holding the collar and lead. Most dogs are more adaptable and versatile than people think if you give them the opportunity and think outside of the box. As an example I had a GSD which would lamp all night, flush and retrieve to the gun, track anything wounded, guard the house, play gently with the kids and was gifted at seizing small dogs by the scruff and launch them 6 ft into the air.?

  22. Will depend on what "all round lurcher work" means?? In general to me it would be a dog that can run the odd day time hare without being completely outmatched, take the odd fox or bigger deer as available and smaller deer, rabbits as a matter of course both on lamp and daytime, plus be able to find its own game/mooching. Others might also add in working with ferrets and nets. A decent coursing dog should be able to do all of the above if its decent much as a decent lurcher should. You can sicken a general lurcher or courser by say using it for foxing etc night in night out but

Where I live isn’t bad for migration , inner city problems, crime , economy, house prices , I hate the “I’m alright jack” mentality but i don’t care anymore . I don’t care anymore about the rest of the country , it can dissappear into an abyss of dual carriageways, out of town retail parks with identikit companies lending out everything on tick . I don’t give a f**k people wanted it, they can h

  31. Went out for a few hours with the pup on his own tonight. Nice and dark but not much wind so most stuff was moving off quickly but we managed four and was really close on a couple of others. Only smallish fields where they hit the hedges fast. He’s starting to run the beam well now and trusting me even if he can’t see anything. Starting to become a nice shape but still piling the food in him as he’s not quite 1 yet and already proved to me he’s fully committed to whatever it is he does. Let’s hope it doesn’t change

  38. City and Liverpool football looks better now because the rules allow them to play. I watched that Chelsea goal last night and the 3 defenders stood off afraid to tackle. Soft penalty too for Utd. They might look more technical but it takes the passion out of the game when you can't throw in a borderline late tackle. Including free kick to win possibly all 3 of those goals wouldn't of happened 20 year ago. Chelsea striker would of been turned upside down ?and the other 2 wouldn't of been blown as fouls.?

  39. Think a lot of Utd's status came along on the back of the Buzby Babes and then the subsequent European Cup win albeit a decade later. It's the not the team people object to its the glory hunting fan base from London, Exeter etc That and fooking "Fergie Time." Cheers, D.

  43. Genuine question, who thinks Brexit matters any more after the shambles you have witnessed the last nearly 4 years and the problems facing British communities ? This is going to be fought as a “Brexit” election but by f**k, if the last few years have shown us anything it’s that the problems are domestic not European.
