Been in the building trade all my life and half prices you hear that blokes reckon theyre getting is a load of old bollocks. All these blokes clearing a grand a week but never seem to have f**k all.Did my fair share oon the hod as a youngun and will still pick it up now if we cant get a decent lad on board. All great when you're young but it catches up with you in the end.Id tell any youngster these days stay in education and use your brain to earn a living.8 points

Same as that mate, used to look after 3 brickies back in the early 90s for £30 a day......I was happy of it too, work was hard to find. My pals used to say “I wouldn’t do all that work for that” and guess what?....they were skint all the time ! Lol6 points

That’s a really interesting little film. I have said for a long time that if you rob people of their sense of nationhood, culture and, via the tax system, their sense of any hope of ever breaking free.......if you make them feel like second class citizens in their own land then it’s going to go wrong, badly f***ing wrong. Its what happened in Germany in the 20s and 30s. As it stands, many British people feel dispossessed.......they don’t matter beyond their tax code, the burdens of the state and of the cost of just living mean they will never, ever earn enough to be free except6 points

No doubt brickies around here are having the best time of it that I can remember. My best mate is a brickie and for a long while they were the poorest trade on site, shit really...not now..loads of house building and shortage of labour drives prices up...I hate the new estates everywhere around here, but at least the good lads are getting some reward... Make hay while the sunshines cause as sure as shit stinks the bubble will burst at some point5 points

clean up after yourselves and the groundworkers would pump out that water for you?I spend most of my time ,flying from site to site correcting other trades boo boos, ground workers, brickies and f***ing lazy retarded plumbers ?the brickies are the dirtiest trade on site these days imo.......used to be the sparkies and plumbers ?...hard to find anyone under 30 with a brain and a bit of get up and go these days....they all on the bag, lending money for a breakfast roll on a monday because they've spunked their wage up the nose ?reason why they shit hot with the drug testing on site now?4 points

I used to have two hods one for bricks and blocks and one for gobo and a mixing point with a diesel mixer with sand a pallet of big bags of cement two 45 gallon drums full of water and a bottle of fairy liquid lol sounds like hod carrying's not a bad number these days.lol4 points

Jeezz wish I were younger I carried the hod for a well known house builder in the 90s and it was all ladder no loading bays.lol4 points

If you want to see hatred look at the political left. From antifa to momentum to unite against hate. We arnt full of hate we are just pissed off. Being against giving power to the eu isn't hate. Being against mass immigration isn't hate. Being a nationalist isn't hate. Being wary of a religeon that punishes gays and subdues women isn't hate. The list goes on. We are call far right now for believing in a clean meaningful brexit. If that doesn't scare you then I don't know what will! My grandma sheltered her kids from nazi bombs, my grate aunt was a jew who escaped from Europe a4 points

went from Ampleforth and around Byland Abbey. dog put a few rabbits up and a short run at a big rabbit. looked decent numbers. was greeted by a irate orchard owner ranting and raving (dog had just run a rabbit through his trees) thought I won't bother asking for permission. all in all good day, time out with Mrs, work for the little dog and a Yorkshire welcome from Mr orchard.3 points

Yep, always cut down. My career ended rather acrimoniously as two of the Brickies were chopsy fuckers trying to be smart all the time. Lost my rag one day and tried to chop one of thems head off with a shovel, I was chasing them all round the scaffold of a block of flats.....must have looked comical to any spectators lol That’s may have been the time I got the idea that a real job may not be for me! we used to run the dogs single ,slip for slip and the deerhound x were not rubbish, they just wernt as good as some lurchers i saw ,and they wernt all saluki x either,i found once we got a few early mornig runs ,after dinner they used to wain in the energy department ,on the straight up run ,they were fast as fuk but some (not all) were poor on turning but could make up for it on the sprint again,i saw them catch plenty ,i never saw them on deer as there wernt any where we hunted, and the lad that had them was a greyhound trainer and knew his dogs and only kept the best ,PTS the ones that didnt2 points

I’ve a brother a self employed brickie and he’s taking home 1500 a week but when you take out food and board and flights back and forth it’s no fortune.2 points

We are going to have an election. For years the conservatives havnt been able to talk about anything except brexit, they have been tied up in knots. Now in this election campaign they can really talk about other things. While Labour will be tied up in knots on brexit, because the only thing Labour can offer on brexit is years of the one thing everyone is sick of ie. more confusion, uncertainty and delays.2 points

I don't doubt it mate. If only we'd known that at the time! I had a blinding time anyway and would do it again if the chance came up. My pack are all getting on now but I'd happily come along as a beater. It's good you've kept in touch, he's a good guy, he made a great effort in difficult circumstances.2 points

Does anyone remember that deerhound x greyhound called axel I think in the old lurchermania lamping videos ? He was about 28 TTS and could mop the rabbits up, I can remember them putting a timer up on the screen then it catching a rabbit in a few seconds and them saying “a speedy deed for a tall breed” ?. Wouldn’t mind try to get a copy of those videos on dvd if anyone knows where I could get one?2 points

The only thing I'm taking from this entire f***ing pantomime is how constitutionally outdated and ill-equipped we are. Nuke the f***ing lot and build from the ground up a modernised government and constitution.2 points
