The squirrels have started on my parents plum tree, so armed with my AirArms s410 and a tin of diabolo field, I’ve started on the squirrels. The feeder was only up for a few hours and had a couple of customers. I’ll be back there in a couple of days, hopefully with a few more tree rats to share.7 points

So true in fact I often pray my dog doesn't find any thing. But it's not just the lurcher work. Walking the lanes with a sneaky stop net in ya pocket. Or just having wander A bit of company in the hide We love just being out there doing what ever it don't matter. If you have a nice quiet hound well disciplined it must be a complete joy. Unfortunately mooching with my dog is a bit like mooching with a sherman tank ? But we don't care5 points

99% of the lads that are at the terrier and lurcher game in their teens soon lose interest and move on in life, but for some it is a way of life and no other life will do! I’m not sure what it is that grips hold, but it must be from deep within the ‘hunting’ gene still being strong. My Mam always says if she knew how deep I’d get myself with dogs she would have never let me have one as a kid ? But at the same time, most of the lads I grew up with have gotten themselves onto a different and wrong path, so maybe being out in the fields ain’t such a bad thing?5 points

Well lads, as you know I`ve been shooting spring rifles mostly this year and thoroughly enjoyed hunting with them. So I thought I`d have a change, checked her zero this afternoon - still spot on and off me and Kaiser went. AA Fields, 8.4g, 4.52, deadly combination, - just the one again which tells me they are under a bit of control again. 41 yards lazed. atb Mark.3 points

follow this section quite a lot as I enjoy reading about what you all get upto on your foxing sessions!! I put off putting myself out there regarding foxing as I like me bed and am not to keen on nightshifts with starting work early... been out a few times with a mate lately though but only used the 12's as we generally get into the black stuff as the sun rises! I won't get into the perm situation as its not mine and I get invited, all ill say is it gets poached quite a bit and the potshot possy are shite and the foxes have wised up hence the hiding ambush approach! s3 points

I had the .308 win out the other night, just testing loads, but the hotter the thing got the further right it hit, let it cool down and it was bang on again. I can only put it down to it getting hot, wouldn't put enough through it on a stalk, but funny trying to get a good zero.3 points

A old target shooting bloke told me that when you get two separate groups like that Dave it's usually a little variation in the rifles position and hold between shots. In theory you probably have the potential with a decent shooter behind the rifle ? of a cloverleaf group.3 points

Haha, just little ol' me holding the daft bugger...and part from size, I recon something like this fella would be just the ticket because it sounds like you're after the same as me. I was missing a bully round the house but didn't want to go get bitten by that bug again, if you catch my drift... this fella good as gold with his own kind, will tear around the fields then back home to snore his daft head off... there you go again anybody who wants to catch rabbits will empty your diesel tank and take a hilux and jcb bucket. wake up to the fact that it's the same cnuts that burgle houses and steal in towns are doing it to you in the countryside. Real dog lads and poachers won't cause any problems.3 points

Fair enough,. i have to say i have a photo of every fox shot. They are all printed out and in albums of the type that has a fairly large margin at the side to enable you to write in it. All the details are written at the side of the photo such as where, when, rifle, scope, illuminater, sex etc. I started doing it a long time ago when i heard certain forces where trying to pry guns back from their owners under the guise of not enough use. I decided to compile evidence of use just in case. My area didn't use that tactic but the way i see it is they might in the future so i continue to fill alb3 points

Why use a Bore snake, they are NOT the one time does it all solution, and in rifles can actually cause damage. Bore snakes were developed as a quick pull through for shotguns on site where you couldn't clean properly, the reason being some years back many propellants were corrosive so it was a good idea to get them out of the barrels asap. Things have changed and the need for a Bore snake in Shotguns has virtually disappeared. There never really was a need in rifles, just the marketing people trying to convince the world they were essential. No Bore Snake will ever clean a bore3 points

I didn’t go looking for it as I’d lost the light and didn’t have a lamp with me because I wasn’t planning on staying until it got dark, I also knew that me or the farmers lad would be there this morning, it turn out that it was closer than I had thought, he rang me to say it was in the second cut where as I thought it was on the hedge back, so there’s a good chance I wouldn’t of found it last night, where I thought it was is about 135 yards, where it actually was will of been under 100, I asked him could he send me a picture of it for my records and his reply was “ what you doing taking pictur2 points

Before people run out on the latest get rich quick scheme, the french bulldog is an absolutely useless breed of dog and I have known plenty of chancers get there fingers burned, because the puppy’s often don’t survive, or the vets bills to deliver them eat up most of the money, have known them sit on and suffocate pups and many born with cleft pallets, WARNING PEOPLE ONLY BRAG ABOUT SUCCESS, FAILURE IS QUICKLY BRUSHED AWAY, a bit like gamblers always talk about the wins2 points

I was in Kerala southern India a few years back in a rice boat sailing through the Kerala backwaters it’s what you do when you visit the place the guide was pointing out there’s a Sea Eagle and over there there’s a mass of Giant lily pads and I clocked out of the corner of my a eye a bloke having a massive squirty diarrhoea shit on the river bank into the water kinda spoilt it a bit it’s left a memory that won’t go away lol....2 points

I found the desire for the kill has diminished, my dogs were primarily lamp dogs and working with the terriers. All about catching as much as possible. I enjoy mooching more these days, watching the whippet hunt up and find. The kill is secondary.2 points
