Had a tough day out in the mountains yesterday, weather was kind if nothing else & that's a bonus for sure! I'm sure age has a hell of a lot to do with how difficult I'm finding walking in & amongst the high tops these day's..I'm not going to lie it's becoming nigh on f###ing impossible for me to enjoy a days mooching about up there .. anyways,it turned out not too bad in the end, what I have realised & i have to admit I had a tear in my eye is that Boots is all but finished now,he has recently seen his 9th birthday & like a good friend of mine told me yesterday if a dog at 9 ye14 points

When Ruby had not long seen her 14th birthday we took it upon ourselves to walk the Lairig Ghru drovers path right through the heart of the Cairngorms, the path reaches a height of almost 3000ft & is surrounded by some of the highest peaks in the UK including Braeriach,Cairn Toul,Angel's Peak etc & we done it on what was the hottest day of the year,no shade & the temp was in excess of 30c,the distance covered was 23 miles, she walked the whole route in one day & in human years she would of been over a hundred year's of age..as we were walking towards the Linn of Dee in the evenin10 points

Hospitals under stress Three quarters of a million migrants in 2019 but hospitals under stress. No smear tests or mammograms for 18 months will put hospitals under stress. 40 thousand staff loosing their jobs because they haven't had a jab will put hospitals under stress. Go and have your jab Greb you complete mongaloid7 points

Decided to try for some rabbits last night , even though its a full moon it was cloudy and windy. The shooting was very challenging in the wind shooting off my bipod sticks , I was blowing about all over consequently I missed a few. I had to really concentrate and did eventually settle down pulling off some decent shots. Eventually though the cloud cover cleared and it became daylight putting a halt to the proceedings.7 points

I live in Cumbria..if you ain't prepared to travel 2-4 hours away you needn't keep a dog well not if you want to test it anyways, that's how it's been for 30 years now..barren of gear in the vast majority of places up here..200 mile plus nightly trips I done 4/5 nights weekly when I lived for the hours of darkness..I can never understand all this 'if only you were closer & it's too far away' sh##e,we live on a tiny island where you can go from north to south in less than a day in a car7 points

Just an update, not had much chance to edit and upload any photos yet as I literally haven’t stopped. Wednesday I hunted podenco xarnego valenciano in the actual valencian orange groves which was nice, we had 4 rabbits and one was released. Yesterday I hunted Rehala again and we had around 50 reds and 30 boar with both dogs and guns, great day. this evening I am meeting with and having a meal with the president of the Rehala association, think he wants to understand my intentions, suss me out type thing. tomorrow I hunt Rehala with him for the first time, it was tough saying go6 points

Thankyou,I miss my Ruby matey as I'm sure you do your Nell..life's not the same for me without her here that's for sure. I've had some great dog's over the year's & not all running dog's but Ruby was the best of the lot by a country mile..on her final day with me I wrapped her up in my shirt & travelled to some of our favourite places here in the Lake District,we parked up several times & I had the craic with her reminiscing of days long gone,I'm not gonna lie I broke my heart I did,it was our last adventure together,i took her to the vet's on the way home & had her put to slee6 points

If this sort of thing doesnt open peoples eyes to how white English people are the most racially abused group in existence then nothing will..........how clear can it be,the rape of white children by Pakistani men has been ignored and brushed under the carpet for years, yet a Pakistani man being called a nasty name is bringing down Western civilisation as we know it !!!5 points

I remember being in the same position a lot of years ago. 12 month old bitch, one or two runs on the local fields most nights on rabbits that were more clued up than me with the lamping game. Then a old mate of mine took me lamping on some rough ground, edge of moorland type land an hour away and the bitch caught 12 bunnies on her first night, missing very few. she never looked back and in my eyes, at the time, became a champion in one night Go, travel and find some easy kills for the dog5 points

Yesterday's sausage dinner... 10 vedge count on there!! Had the air fed welding gear on today.. suction is on a belt pack straight above your arse. Any methane that you release is instantly sucked up a pipe and blown through your helmet right into your face!! Excellent!! lol.... Today's home made quiche... without the paistry ffs. Our Doris is a fully fledged member of the fat club... aka slimming world. Acti fry chips, normal and sweet potato. Decent plate full but i still had the obligatory 2 slices of wholemeal bread because i'm a greedy b@stard!!5 points

It’s genuinely nowt against you, I just can’t bite me lip when folk with no dogs that don’t hunt try tell folk how to do stuff, an they doing it wrong. Keep at it, it will happen, an if your ever up this way with your dog drop me a message an I’ll sort out a few rabbits for it to catch4 points

Come on voon even your not stupid enough to believe it came from eating bats which people have done since the dawn of time, but FairPlay to you for sticking with the official version of events, it’s just another cover story for an escaped man made virus as anyone with a brain cell and an eye can see,4 points

Nice post Andy... Every time this happens to me,...(and it has occurred many times, over my last 60 seasons...) I am always reminded of Kipling's words... He wrote,..."Never give your heart to a dog to tear"... A canny piece of script,...but we never learn from it, do we.... Onwards and upwards, Brother,....all the best, stay safe, OldPhil.4 points

Pre shoot day feeding this afternoon and the dog walkers show no sign of letting up, but I suppose it’s just something I’ll have to live with as if this was private land we as a syndicate certainly couldn’t afford to shoot here, the birds are looking in tip top condition now and were heading back to the pens when I arrived mid afternoon, I’ve made a little plan of what drives we’ll be doing tomorrow but they are not set in stone so I may switch things about a bit, I left just after sun set and over in the west was a lovely orange sun set and to the east was a very bright full moon rising over3 points

Boils my blood too , disease should never be used as a control mechanism. Imagine the countryside absent of rabbits, would be a sad day , fortunately the humble bunny is very resilient and has still survived with everything thrown at it.3 points

Colin Pitchfork, who raped and murdered, ( or murdered THEN raped two fifteen year old girls, we were never told), was released on parole a few moths ago, has been recalled to prison for breaking his parole conditions. Who whould have thought it..........? Well, just about everyone except the parole board. Cheers.3 points

Good luck with that I may be old but I,m extremely dangerous still knock up a shank out of a toothbrush in no time, but in truth I think it’s just more words to scare and coheres the weak and feeble into taking it, sadly now a double jab isn’t good enough to go on holiday so let’s see how many of those that rolled up the sleeve for a week in Benidorm are willing to keep on going before they realise they were all conned, I can’t wait for it to become a real issue, I’ve been waiting for a proper uprising all my life and hopefully this will be the straw to break the donkey3 points

Tried my bitch at 10 months old lamping for the first time...she did well tbf...she didn't have another go for probably 6 months....if I'm honest she was not really fully matured imo until she just turned 3...now she knows the craic and what's expected of her in the day and on the lamp, don't be in a rush with em,they are all different, how's she bred? My bitch was from 2 half X's ,big old unit so didn't rush her along like previous dogs at 10 months old she looked ready for most things....3 points

I hear the argument for a £6 knife over a more expensive/ custom counterpart. They do the same job , they cut , what more do you want ? For what it’s worth, here is my opinion . I have had every knife on the market and use knives every day working as a gamekeeper and deer manager . The knife that I use on all my deer now was made by THL member Riohog. It is of simple design with an orange handle . I keep it razor sharp ( you could literally shave with it ) . It’s not a pride of ownership thing as really it’s nothing to look at , it’s pure functionality , it’s all about the quality of the steel3 points

I bet if the both of you had to do it all again you wouldn’t change a thing. Looks like he has had a good life and done you proud. Wise words from your friend. I once carried my dog into the vets and someone commented on the extent of his injury and called me irresponsible. Vet turned to them and said “this dog does what he’s bred to do and has a great life doing it…..what’s irresponsible is having an overweight Labrador like yours that’s never walked off the lead .3 points

Come on Kev. You've been on here long enough to know that nobody is going to pay £6 for a knife when thry can pay £150 for one that does exactly the same job.3 points

A pleasant day on the free section of the Itchen. An hour or so wobbling a deadbait proved fruitless although something , probably an ambitious trout, did take the tail off my bait. I spent the rest of the day trying to catch grayling and l was very successful . That's if you ignore the fact that none were over half a pound and most were a lot smaller. I did hook two real biggies though. One was certainly over 2lb. Unfortunatly both did the classic grayling wiggle- dance when they saw the net and came off. Two trout added to the variety Both fought as if they thought l3 points
