  1. We live in an ever changing world and Chilli has hit the nail on the head. For the past 35 years one of the increasingly important roles of well run and well supported Terrier Clubs, is that collectively they form and are the National Working Terrier Federation. It is they, along with a tiny handful of generous individuals (including one regular poster to this forum), who between them have over the years funded and defended terrierwork against a wide variety of harmful legislation. It is because of its network of clubs that the NWTF has been able to speak collectively on behalf of terrierwork

  4. well after 35 years i have finally done all 3.went up scafell pike this morning and went past everyone on the way up and had nobody go past my either.made my day and feck me i bumped into a young lady on the top who lives 3 miles from me.small world.took just under 2 hours to get to the top not to bad for a 48 year old.only downside is the 230 odd mile trip up there which takes 4 1/4 hours but if you want some spectacular scenery you would be hard pushed to beat it in this country

  13. am not a fan of puppy farmers and what you say is true, but the reason could be that the lads that buy from them for working are not that good/experienced themselves.

  14. Yes sir my trusty WMR was out tonight for the first time in yonks. Those 50 grainers sure know how to handle savage charging squirrels. Five down tonight all head shot. My dog owns one, she spotted it while I was oblivious to it's imminent attack!

Lots slag him and his breeding but theres also folk working Hancock dogs and very happy with what they have and go back time after time for a pup . its all about putting in what you want out of a jook ,and yes of course they will be failures and other lines that are working parents etc but do you know what's in them ? With Hancock you know what bloods gone into the mix . i was told he was ill and very frail looking ju

  20. RH , our club just keeps some money in the bank incase of any rescues are needed and they have to get machines in . Any extra every year goes to various charities which the club gives to every year . They also give money to the nwtc every year to keep their funds up . We are also kept up to date with any changes in the laws .

  29. If it was not for NWTF we would not have terrier work as it is today and It would have been banned years ago if it wasn't for the tireless work done by the man who runs the NWTF. I won't name the man who runs it on here but I for one appreciate everything he does for us and terrier work.

  31. I would disagree. 20 years ago any lads I knew doubled up dogs. With the bellman an flint single handed digging dogs became the normal. Some of those old dogs were watery as fcuk.Every old dude seems to think things we're better years ago. All I see from them is contrary old b*****ds that can't dig like a young lad but have an opinion about how it should be done.? You can't beat youth kicking the end of a graft.Im only 38 and I can't even dig like I could 5 year ago. You must be a lot older.Thats not saying you don't have more knowledge. It just means you can't dig like you used to. There is

  32. If there's a dead one inside then is a small predator, Mink, Stoat, Ferret or maybe a Weasel any of them could walk through that fencing. If it were a fox there would be no head on that Chicken. Think Jok is right chicken wire 3' up the outside with a 12" buried under the turf in an L shape, if you get what I mean. Set a Mink/Rabbit cage trap outside the fence maybe. Best of luck with it Pesky. (Sorry mate for wrong name) Cheers Arry

  33. He’s a bit like the gatekeeper for thl, he will pick a random row with you and absolutely destroy you with his razor sharp wit and superior intelligence, at which point you will either flee thl never to be seen again or you will realise he is the resident village idiot that lives under a pebble in Devon looking for crabs and is often seen at low tide stuck up to his waist in the estuary, show him no fear and you,ll be fine ?????

  37. I know one thing for sure. I'd be running a 3ft high chicken wire along that a Harris fencing. Blinking chickens love sticking there heads through if there's grass or weeds about. Might have been an opportunist villain. OMO. JOK.

  38. Thanks for this JonJon ...and your kind words Phil. That TX200HC you had was one of the best spring air rifles I have ever tried and shot with. The link will not allow me to access the AirgunBBS page article/thread. But, thanks to a lot of help and advice from Jimmy, who very kindly acquired a Beech Pro Sport stock and fashioned it into a left hand user friendly one and gave to me, I took the plunge and bought a brand new, right handed, walnut stock Pro Sport for the price then, of £555 and, while using the stock Jimmy made for me to get the rifle run in and shooting well, I set to

  39. Off at a slight tangent off subject, the ironic aspect of this is they banned all 50 cals in California, just as was recently proposed and defeated here. The situation was the same over there in that hardly anyone had them or could afford them and there wasn't a single incidence of 1 ever being used in a crime. Over here of course they already restricted to gun ranges only. As a result of the ban, the gun industry designed the .416 Barret instead to provide an alternative to the banned .50, which has more range and is a arguably a more dangerous gun than the original .50 cal if you measure it

  40. Always fancied a #1 Ruger but not now. The nice thing about 22-250 from a barrel Ife thing is in the UK field where usually single shots are all that is required it generates enough heat which helps to keep not only the bore free of condensation but any moderator too. The only other thing apart from throat erosion if not new I would look for is bedding and barrel clearance in the stock channel. It is an intense round, any of the 22 CF above hornet are but the 250 especially so and anything other than a bull barrel need some room to flex and whip. The slightest contact and bang goes t

Don't want all this basket lark his not going to tesco ?

This is my youngest Girl about 40 years ago she looked after the Ferrets for years and she was always playing with them and sometimes she would sneak them into the house and put them to bed one night I was going up stairs and passed the spare room and I thought I saw something move I wentin and moved a couple of toys the bent down to look under a Wardrobe as I did I looked at the girls Dolls house I was realy big and very old and it contained every thing , as I was looking a Ferret looked straight back at me through a pair of Gingham Curtains it was a bit of a shock and as I lent back another

  47. I think terrierwork in general is on a downward spiral, a lot have left the game and none of the younger generation have replaced them. Also in regards to terrier clubs, the notion of meeting once a month for a few pints and a catch up is long gone, everyone and everything is so easily accessible these days that the romance of it seems to have disappeared. Hope I’m wrong mind.
