Ok I wil start, lovely morning 2 degrees and sunny, so been out walking from valley floor to ridge top, very little about apart from someone else’s pheasants that kept the dogs amused for an hour, few squirrels and some badger tracks, just been snapping as I walk some blind into the sun but thought it would be nice to have a positive thread going apart from all the animosity so I,ll just stick em up as they come to many to load may take a few goes please join in and add some of your own21 points

Hi Northern Lad,.yeah,..Kelpies and Cattle Dogs are completely different in many ways, but amazingly similar in others.. Both types have been purpose bred to fullfil a specialist task, in their native country.. I think it is a missnomer to confuse these herding types with the average Border Collie,....facts are, they are,..different... Problems can sometimes occur, when folk simply get one, because they fancy one,...obviously, its a free country and a man must always do as he wants,...its no business of anyone else.. In saying this,..I do owe a great debt to certain canines12 points

I tend to judge people on actions tbh and I saw the copper try his best to get a member banned by trolling him continually and turning the tables saying it was the other chap trolling .Will be a while before I except him as a mod tbh .I’ve always thought he had an agenda on here ,trying to fit in a bit too much . Ive known several coppers that come across as sound until things don’t go their way .7 points

A little project I got on the go, a sought of mini camper/dayvan/old banger van. I want something were I can go off with the dog for a night and mooch and do what I do. Nip up to the dales or over to Norfolk for a night and mooch about and camp ruff it for the night or too. This is part finished but going to change it all round for better use of space, so get rid of double bed or half it, or do away and put a single rock and roll bed. Going to put a roof light/vent in. Am undecided weather to put a side window inn or weather to keep a stealthy look. Also not sure weather to put some sort of he7 points

I don't have a problem with Nicepix being a moderator as I don't take the site that seriously as some seem to do it's an habit I agree and it's interesting and a breath of fresh air to read about things I have an interest in especially when you are in a workplace full of folk who would bore the titts of a pot pig. I have had more beef and grief from South Yorkshire police in the past to last me a lifetime even watching two coppers from across a crown court who were prepared to lie on oath. I honestly think folk should give him a break tbh.6 points

Really surprised at your support for him Francie tbh what with being a man of faith and believing in God which i respect you for surely this individual is not Christian in his values and actions.5 points

Absolutely classes are useful for socialising, really, having a trainer there cuts out all the bollocks most dogs owners talk and act out . It is an arse ache though, Reactive dogs are frustrating for everyone involved and hard not to get tense. If the dog is scared then belting or zapping it isn't positive IMO, save that for aggressive actions. A rabbit skin or commercial tug toy can be a useful distraction if used before the barking kicks off. Otherwise seek out dogs they do get on with to maximise positive interactions. Good luck5 points

One thing I would say and really strongly recommend is no matter what heat source you go for make sure you put a carbon monoxide detector in the back as it takes no time in a small space to be overcome, and the last thing anyone needs is to wake up dead ????4 points

Here's what I would do and I hope this helps you out. first get the dog to sit, fast on command. You can use treats for this if the dog's keen for them. Next is to teach the "look" comand so the dog looks you in the eyes. You might want a "halti" type headcollar that fastens under the dogs chin for this and as a bonus this'll help control any pulling. Again, "look" can be reinforced with treats if the dogs keen for them. Now down to it. At some point as you see a person or dogwalker approach in the distance or you approach a yard with a barking dog, your own dog is going to start to4 points

Well accidentally posted this in general and guess the mods couldn't move it here like I asked. All good ? anyway So y'all know I recently got a dedicated .22lr AR-15 to use as a trainer and I gave it a pink camo paint job since I have a lot of female freinds wanting to learn to shoot......also because it was kinda my GF's Christmas present and she loves pink. Anyway it's been an absolute hit so far ! Something about a a gun with a fun paint job just seems to put a lot of people at ease. Also it's just kinda apart of my generations gun culture to a degree ? Depending though, not ju4 points

Been a long time since running pup on like this but it’s done me bloody proud pulled a stunt this morning only thought my old bitch could and class her as once in a life time dog. struggled and struggle to make a bond maybe self consciously because I’ve always had bitches than dogs but he’s at work every day slept in same bed for months after a break up and lack of room and we’ve still not clicked clicked on the other hand from 6 months the kids adored him and I’ve never seen a dog so canny around children it’s unreal only about 14 months I think won’t raise an eyebrow if there carry3 points

One thing is most will bare their teeth first if you get too close to the owner, it's not a bluff. Most will bite then back off, not a full blown attack like a bandog or similar. I really don't think they suit most city environments with the lawsuits these days.3 points

Zap collar might do more harm than good ,you might be zapping your dog for doing something it thinks you want it To do, id try a long lead in a place dog walkers go and allow the dog to get close to other dogs without being pulled back as pulling back can make it worse ,you may find it's you making problem worse ,3 points

I bet your tensing up now every time a dog passes that bitch she will sense it just chill your problem is her on the lead and I bet you tensing up go your local vets or dog training class and just sit there and let her meet as many dogs as she can if she is good with other dogs she just wants to socialise and your stopping it hence the frustration she's still young socialise her more go parks etc no need for a collar3 points

Posts like this are what the forum is about and this is what we need. No rubbish talked apart from this post and all on track. I can't really do any hunting posts this season much as I have an old dog and a pup but hopefully next season3 points

They can be warm and wet, cold and dry but not wet and cold, saying that I used to dig or bolt upto 70 a year (not season), I wouldn't touch that now. Whether that's through just getting old and lazy or just seeing the danger in being where I'm not wanted or needed or just the damage the rifle does is all up for debate. The way I used to look at it was I'd treat my area like spokes in a wheel, hit every earth in one area before changing areas the next day, sooner or later I'd cut down the possibilities because I'd been to enough or I'd left the stink of dogs on enough places, cutting down3 points
