  2. Not the time or the place to comment on the contribution that Mr. Brian Nuttall made to the development of the working terrier in many a man's kennel, but the word "gentleman" has been used. What better accolade to be given a man, any man, particularly a terrierman, in the times that we live in. R.I.P.

  3. Things change with time and we mellow and allow certain things to slide with our dogs. The pup I bred last year is coming up to a year old now but back in my twenties he wouldn’t have made 6 months. With age comes wisdom and patience ……

  4. ?Never thought I would say it,. or even think in such a way,...but nowadays, I don't really care, if a dog is good at the job or not. Financially, my status has changed a bit,...not drastically,...(we are still living in our wee terraced house), but, I don't have to worry about keeping dogs solely for work...so,.. its all about the enjoyment, the craic and the good times now..? I have foolishly allowed, my obsessional Life with Lurchers, to rule my entire being, for far too long... Time to chill out,.. and smell the coffee...?

  5. That is because we are, who we are, I get less game than I did when I was much younger but that isn't my style these days .If a dog misses its target I just deliver a pat & say ,"Nice try now come on fella we will get it next time" .The Talley's no longer hold any value for me ,these days its all about enjoyment ,spending my time very carefully. Strange as it might seem, at this much slower level /pace I'm rewarded more and gain simple pleasure doing less .I know the dogs I own very well ,I spend most days walking /working the dogs and find I don't judge them as hard as I once did, they a

  9. It doesn't seem all that long ago when anyone letting slip the secrets of mole-catching would've been lucky not to find themselves trussed in rusty barbed wire and dumped naked on the steps of the nearest A&E. Where they they would find themselves trying to explain to staff exactly how they came to have a steel tunnel probe in a rather unfortunate place. Now people run courses. And live!

  13. True, I don't believe a dog, however much of an asshole it seems, ever does things purposely to displease it's owner. Some may be wild or difficult in one man's hands and perfectly behaved in another's. Personality clashes happen. I had to part with a good dog once for this reason but he and the new owner work well without a problem.

  14. So a that can kill a fox in short order above on its own retrieve of water caught deer in cover and been into boar a few times abroad youse reckon thats no different to a pet terrier ? Not everyone hunting them above is chasing a few rabbits there not in same class as a serious digging dog ofcourse but i think a goodun deserves abit more credit than that

  16. Thats the one terry. I once killed 7 hares with him daytime on good land took 60 something deer in his first season second season loads more. Alot of people including some on here said it was the best deer dog theyd seen id agree with regards to roe. But 90% of the time all hed do is piss me off with his funny ways. The red dog i had at same time was slower didnt kill as much but was a nicer animal kept him until he was 12 year old.

  17. Whatever the rights or wrongs of the Sunaks tax status, the hypocrisy is staggering ! Labour MP Emily Thornberry, AKA Lady Nugee, has just been on the news, not exactly accusing the Sunak of anything illegal, but making insinuations and innuendo. Remember, this is the very rich woman who bought a council house in London and sold it on at great profit ! The same woman who sneered at the house flying a Saint George's flag, mocked "white van man", and said Brexit voters were less intelligent than remainers ! But, hey, let's not let principles get in the way of party politics !

All mine live in now...they are alot more content and listen better, can take them away, they don't dirty inside or in a motor,I feel I've got a better bond, the kids and Mrs will walk them when I'm at work, before they didn't know the dogs names,or how many I kept? Only downside is the noise if the door goes or ice-cream van comes up the street??

  21. We keep gleanies, I love them, they are brain dead, hysterical, noisy, ruthless, comical little dinosaurs. As I sit here now I have 38 eggs in the incubator that went in yesterday . When they are keets they try to kill themselves in the most ingenious ways. If you can get them to live longer than tgat they stick around, mine roost in the same pear tree every night in the chicken pen they grow up in. Strangely kat year o put a few of our hen eggs in to fill up the incubator, those hens roost up there too thinking that's what they are supposed to do ?

  30. Why complicate things ? Keep the guinea fowl enclosed and feed them at the same time every day until they start coming to to you at feed time, and they are "hanted" as we say up here, just like homing pigeons. Then release them and keep feeding them same time, same place. They won't stray far. Cheers.

  31. Each to there own realy but the ones with the plastic square mesh ones look sound , and if I lived in a country with poisonous snakes etc I’d like mine of the floor too , them plastic square ones are probably better than solid concrete floor as the piss would drain strait through , fair enough the shit wouldn’t but it doesn’t on solid concrete either , seen some the rabbit hunting fours in us for little beagles and terriers some look mint , some look like rabbit hutch’s with slats so the shit falls through but they not my cup of tea , as pup or adult dog could snap a leg pretty quick , @

  37. I used to believe that and think the same way..But there's some good fun to be had, with a decent bushing terrier or 2 that don't drop in..no humping a shovel around and the lurchers get a good stretch?

  38. Sounds a good idea mate. I have often thought of going for a councillor's position we have one independent in Rotherham who is doing a great job in exposing and bringing the mostly labour controlled council to task its a pity a lot who would be better for community's and the country have had colourful pasts that would see them slaughtered by social media and the main party's if they did get in these positions.

I expected 100% ultimate obedience, and an immediate response to my whispered commands,.. and as a keen young Buck, I would countenance nothing less? Truth is, I could write an extensive article, regarding this superlative hunting jukel,...but I'll not bore my fellow posters with my old man's tales, suffice to say,.. by feck,...we took some game together.....? 47. I prefer the ones with boxes over the barrels. Purely because they are better protected from the wind and cold. I see a lot of Americans have raised kennels I thought was to protect from snakes and stuff?
