Delighted to be finally back at it after two years suffering from CES and a awful back surgery finally got back to having a good day out ... hope all is good with the usual crew ..got out with couple friends with the hounds and terriers.. foxes were dispatched humanly.

They aren't day time hare dogs. They will kill, but there's better alternatives. Ive allways been very skeptical of times and slip distances. A 4 minutes course is usually more like 1 1/2 minutes, and a 200 yard slip is usually more like 50 yards. I'm a great believer in the old saying; "don't believe anything you hear, and only half you see", especially where dogs are concerned. Maybe I'm more cynical than senile ? Cheers.

I think the problem is that most people are thick. They are born with a brain but in the most part do not use it. I know people who hunt but do not shoot. Others that shoot but do not hunt. Some hunt and fish. Some only fish. Most people do not hunt or fish or shoot but love to eat animals and fish that have been killed by other people. I’ve always thought 10 minutes running time for a good staying dog in a day is plenty enough if they can hack it, wether that be 5 x 2 minute runs, 3 x 3 minute runs or 2 x 5 minute runs ect, wether a dog could do 1 x 10 minute run is a different kettle of fish, but you have got to remember if a dog has a decent long run say 3 minutes they want to be kept on the lead and walked for 20 minutes before slipping again to get there body right

I feed a raw diet to adult dogs.I do not feed raw to pups.My pups eat the best puppy kibble i can find.Pups need a calcium phosphorus ratio of 2:1 where most adult dogs need a 1:1 ratio.I have seen a few people damage pups unknowingly.In my opinion a proper raw diet is the best but its too easy to get it wrong with a pup in my opinion. This is my current feed for my terriers. Day one 12oz chicken leg quarter(Calcium,calories) 2 oz pinksalmon(vitaminD,omega3) 1 medium egg(vitamind,k,e) Day 2 2oz chicken feet (calcium) 4 oz chicken gizzards(protein)

That's about the same price I pay for raw. I mix two raw minced chicken with one raw minced green tripe as the main meal. A drop of veg oil and a spoonful of "bone builder". They also get lamb ribs, chicken carcasses, beef trimmings, etc that I get for free from a butcher. Also get herring, mackerel, trout when available. When we cook veg for ourselves we do more than needed and the dogs get the rest. All my dogs have been fed this way, and my deer/grey pup is thriving on this diet. Everyone has their own ideas on feeding, and all dogs are different, so what suits

Wouldn't say shooting men are against the hunt but I wound say they don't care a less about it. The places I follow the hunt are where I Ferret and Forage and the farmers give me the nod when they are going to meet. In the last few years the keepers of the shoots have taken all the Foxes out.
