  1. I can speak with a little bit of knowledge on school. In the UK we put massive pressure on kids......and I mean massive, from the time they are babies of 4 ! Almost nobody else is doing that in Europe. They are getting tested from infant age group and the pressure in schools to meet those standards is terrible, parents buy into this absolute bullshit too because lots of parents are thick as shit and Fred & Chantelle who never passed a f***ing exam in their life and have risen to be a bin man and a nail technician believe that if they just moan at the school enough then littl

  2. WILF is 100% correct. There is absolutely no connection between academic achievement in primary school and how much money people earn at 30. Once you take the top few percent of really clever kids out and the bottom few percent who really struggle then everyone else evens out. When I was at school in year 3 at primary I was taught by one old woman who taught us every lesson we needed to learn. My son is now in year 3 and he has 3 different teachers doing different subjects, there are a couple of classroom assistants and he gets piles of online homework every single day. Apparently

  8. had a mate who was suicidal. He was really depressed, so I pushed him in front of a steam train. He was chuffed to bits. I was reading in the paper today about this dwarf that got pick pocketed. How could anyone stoop so low?

  9. Personally I had a hard time supporting my 3 with home schooling. Not because I'm stupid or lazy, it was just difficult for a number of reasons. I did the best I could with 3 teenagers who weren't always compliant or easy to engage. I've worked all the way through in the NHS as well, and that was a bit stressful at times. The government bangs on about how the kids are all behind but, for me, I think they might want to change the criteria they judge them by. Because it's utterly ridiculous the way they teach kids in this country. Learning is little more than repetition and stress. I feel

  11. The world takes all sorts and needs all sorts . You need the insanely brainy academics, high level sorts , they can design and work out anything thats needed , you need the next levels to take their thoughts and put them in to practice and organise it all the way down to the boots on the ground actually putting the plans together . Spurs new stadium is a marvel in design the way its all held together , its beyond me how someone can design something complex . But without the guys in high viz driving the dumpers , shifting the cement , doing the blockwork its just a thought in some

  18. Same as politics / tax / how the world works should be taught aswell. Also should be easier for kids who are in no way academic to do a day a week or something as apprentice. I had a good [BANNED TEXT] who was always set to fail a exams , never bothered in school and just coasted through 5 years of school doing fuckall. Would have been great for him to do a day in a mechanics, building site or anything manual with his hands(which he was good at) a week maybe during GCSE years . Then when he finished school hes set . He always said it was a complete waste of time him being in school

  21. This is pretty much why I gave up teaching after over a quarter of a century. I kept trying to TEACH children fun stuff and also to make sure they went home with a massive smile on their faces because they knew they had the best teacher in the school. Happy kids and happy parents was my priority which unfortunately, meant that I wasn't ticking the correct boxes. I've always been a non-confrontational person but over the last few years I was getting more and more antagonistic towards the "senior" management team. Completely agree. When my son was at primary school, one of his friends ca

I have got it all worked out, I’d call him “Tonto” and every day he would have to dress in a different outfit. So say, Monday - Spaceman, Tuesday - Admiral Nelson complete with eye patch, Wednesday - he’s be a little cowboy and so on and so forth.......then if I got bored I’d chuck him a few extra quid to do stunts like “Here, Tonto, here’s a monkey go and chuck yourself off the roof of the barn” ......that type

  25. Today I officially retired my dog Brian from the foxing World. First of all I would like to thank busher for gifting me this fantastic animal all them moons ago .for that I am forever grateful and he knows anything I breed he is welcome to one . Quick story on Brian. Brian started hunting at around 4 months old ,and seem to take to everything in his stride. Not really taking much training in anything he was shown .I initially never got him for earth work ,as we had other terriers for that job.but again he took to bolting Charlie's for fun .he bolted his first fox aged 11 months .,self en

  26. Bit of a frost this morning at 05.45am, we walked a old railway line to the woods instead of going over the fields, didn’t want the pup putting anything big up and going for a long gallop with the ground being hard. The ground was good in both woods and he hunted up a few rabbits coming close on one ( sure he’s on first name terms with it as he runs one regular in the same spot ?). Only saw two squirrels and took this one at around 20odd yards.. head shot, stone dead ! The pigeon was a good 30 yards with the 11mm steel dropping him with a neck shot. Good to hear the bird song especially the b

  37. we don`t have teachers anymore, they are professional trainers who can only run by what`s in a book, a teacher can spot a child who struggles to understand something and find a different way to explain things, my old physics teacher was always banging on about cross-multiplication, had me stumped, family friend told me about the pyramid system for ohms law, that stuck with me and I still use it now.

  38. Think about how many years most of us spent learning languages in secondary school. I did 5 years of German. At the end of 5 years the total achievement I had was being able to shout 'ya das is guuud' in a porn star voice. I learnt more languages in a month in Spain in my mid twenties. You can't force knowledge into a brain.
