  1. Remember picking him up at 6 weeks old knowing nothing about the parents having just lost a dog a few weeks prior i took a chance at a pup i knew nothing about apart from how he was bred. What a little dog he turned out to be, from retrieving foxes, hares to tracking deer. If i could I'd do it all over again with him. Still catching bits and bobs whilst out but his lamping days are behind him

  2. Me and paul had a cracking day out on the squirrels again. The pointer x was star of the day catching 4 of the 6 caught. Best one was one she jumped into the tree to make the catch. All caught on video. Great bit of sport . Same again tomorrow and hopefully a cook up afterwards. Video coming soon.

  3. Nice wee dog. Reminds me of the whippet I had about ten years or so ago. Punched seriously above his weight and flew into everything from foxes to fallow bucks with great gusto. Hunted hard and had zero fear but the nicest personality you could wish for. If I thought u could get another like him I think I would but from what I can see these days they seem to cost ten times as much for half the dog. Too many folk breeding for the wrong reasons, lap dogs and shivery pets. I remember lamping with my lad one night, he was on the arse of a hare, snapping his jaws, the hare dropped into a ditch

  4. Early start, first light drey poking at a spot where discretion is needed. Ended up with eight tree rats, got with the moderated 410. We had a bolt of six from one drey, of which I shot three. Going back next week for another do.

  7. Hi all Yesterday I went down the garden to see to my little trees that have overwintered in the bottom greenhouse, I noticed movement down near the shed, These two ran and hid, Only took a few seconds for curiosity to get the better of them and came out to have a look at the fatty that encroached on their playspace!! I tried getting a few pics but the sun was so bright behind me that I couldn't see the screen of my phone so I went inside the greenhouse and took a few pics and a short vid of them ? Hmm, Not sure if vids are accepted on the forum so i'll include a link to my imgur

  9. It's been a while fellas - I do apologise. ........ I do keep looking in though it's been a funny ol' time for me, since the end of 2019 - I ditched the retail management job because I just couldn't stick the wanky upper management and their brown nosers any more. Bunch of feckin clowns. ............ I went for a career change at the start of 2020 and started a new job on the railway - lots of responsibility and unsociable hours but, I'm really enjoying it Anyway, back to the subject - I fancied a crack at HFT this year (when it's available) so, I

  12. I’m not saying that it is the case with all of the homeless / drug/ alcoholics , but there are families out there who are so dysfunctional, domestic violence, sexual abuse , drug , drink . These people are not a rarity, it is unbelievably common place . I think that a lot of the homeless have not had a good start in life . What is remarkable is that there are not more of them . Me and my Mrs have looked after kids who have been starved / neglected, sexually abused and beaten . The damage was done to these kids . I’m not a fortune teller , but I predict that they will end up repeating

  13. I like beer around the 5% mark - some of the really strong ones have a taste that I don't like. Generally I prefer cider - Henry Westons is nice but, at just over 8% I don't have too many. Given the choice, I'd go for a nice dark rum.

  16. Smashing wee jukels? We all had whippets in the 1970's,...great dogs for the rabbits and pheasants... I still remember the morning when we were ferreting roadside, in Winchester,..I heard a bit of a crashing up in front and all of a sudden, our diminitive racer shot along the ditch, and gripped a good sized Roe Buck... At 17ib in weight she was at a disadvantage , it was quite a struggle...? To be truthful, she was getting the shit kicked out of her, and the Blackthorn was tearing her Blue skin to shreds .. But, she still held on long enough for us to leave the nets, a

  19. A lot make them out to be ‘working whippets’ really they are just net guarders doing 2-3 ferreting days a year. I’m not in any whippet cliques but I’d have another off the people who bred my whippet in a heartbeat if they bred again and the timing was right, and got a couple mates who work theres hard I’d take a pup off if I needed one. Your bang on that the whippet has been seized by peddlers, £3500 top price Iv seen for ‘working whippet’ pups... I’d never have one again if I had to pay that kind of money.

  25. I get what people are saying my dog I got on now is a decent enough dog for me hes got a slight joint problem in his leg but that's when hes ran hard for a nights lamping but a mooching dog for a few runs hes spot on I'm in the process of sourcing another dog that I can then run full time lamping but it will still live in the house and live a working/pet lifestyle. I get out few times a week in the season lamping and that's about the average I can manage with work life home life balance so I guess for me it's not 100% about the working ability of the animal as even if it couldn't catch a rabbi

  27. I don't think prices will ever go back to what they were. vast majority of whippets, lurchers go to pet homes and they seem prepared to pay it. as people that work them we are very much the minority.

  29. He’s a ped whippet. Still got him, he’s 8 year old and 21tts. He’s Still putting plenty to rest I just don’t do as much with him now as iv got my young dog to bring on. But he still sees his fair share of game ?... yes dog prices are horrendous, Iv seen whippets from working stock advertised for £3500 ? I’m not even sure if dog prices will drop much now that people have had a sniff of good money, just gotta hope people you know will do right by you and sell you a dog at a sensible price.

  30. pnice little dog, was it a ped whippet ? or none ped whippet ? i had none ped whippet bitch 20 in 20lb , won few races with her down the track in the west mids cannock , some males there got to 22 in 34 lb , they pile into foxes no pro , very game little dogs, yeh the dog prices is fookin joke £ 1 grand for a jack Russell or whippet , bloody lurchers are getting daft prices as well, the dog pounds will like been full like been said on here, you pay £ 400 quid for a dog or pup there , i think 200- 250 quid fair price for lurcher or terrier today , as long as it goes to good home

  31. A bit different, but the words “enforcement officers” set me off last Saturday I went into the village and into the co-op, now there’s a homeless lad that sits outside, he’s a nice enough lad, doesn’t bother anyone, clearly has some mental health issues and is down on his luck. I often buy him and his dog something to eat or drop him a couple of quid, as I was in the shop I seen the so called “ council enforcement office’s” walking over to him and as I left the shop they were asking for his name, I stopped and told him not to tell him his name and don’t talk to them, they have no powers w

  36. Okay. I've had a good rummage through my clips. Getting into my cups by now. So, some shit I might have initially felt, " Fukk it! I'll lash this up! " I've slowly come to realise I might not want relaying across the entire world, for ever more. In short? We'll keep ME out of the picture, shall we? But, here's a picture of the pregnant " Fox Fox ", the vixen. I base this conclusion on the date, and the rather 'straight lined' belly. Figured there's more to That waist line than just good living. Now, here's Fox Fox, the vixen. Sitting quietly snacking on some left ov
