Went to the perm this morning for a play with my new toy (mtc viper pro scope), set some targets out got some sightmarks and some distance marks, then went into the backend of the perm for a couple of hours squidgy bashing, had these three between 30-40yds then just as I was about to leave this noisy little sod making a racket in a tree about 25yds away so I shut him up too...6 points

A bitch IMO opinion is the gauge of a line, if they're right you're following the right path. You do get dogs that throw a stamp and type and you also get dogs that throw a high percentage of grafters, they're hens teeth, treasure them where you find them and make the most from them. There's the old classic saying "you can f**k a good c**t" it's crude but accurate. If any of us knew the answers we'd all have a perfect yard of perfect terriers, you'll get shit from excellence and you'll get excellence from shit, you'll find the shit won't replecate itself though.6 points

Been dropping the shot squirrels in one area for fox's. It's been quiet for a while but the friendly locals give me the information I need when they see some activity so back out tonight with the WMR. First shot was 75 yards or less. A large vixen shot across the ribs. She ran about forty yards before piling up. The second was a young dog at 50 yards. Straight down. I called one down to 30yards but a hedge was between us and he rumbled me ? I had four sightings, one vocal contact so two out of five ain't so bad. I think they are in some maize, might be5 points

I got fox number 40 last week at the shoot. That’s 40 shot since January on 500 acres. That should have gone a good way to helping the poults, now to just control Charlie numbers and to stop the Ba$#ard poults from wondering!!4 points

having high standard on your bitch line makes it much easier to produce capeable dogs , but basing a line on males traits doesn't mean you'll bred capable bitches4 points

A good bitch will never be brought to a crap dog, whereas plenty of substandard bitches are brought to good dogs,if the bitch is worthy of breeding you can be sure she’ll be going to a dog worth breeding off, giving less of a % of crap in the mix,IMO.4 points

Well for the past week I've been baiting up a swim on our local river for some elusive big chub. All set last night and set-up for 9pm. Was looking good then twenty minutes later a chap and his son with the brightest headtorch in all the world gatecrashes the swim not knowing I'm there as they look for the fish. Well that was game over so this evening I opted for a peaceful two hours up at the copse, or so I hoped. Set up in my usual place hoping for some pigeons. Soon a magpie came in when I took him out all hell broke loose as up to another eight magpies came swooping in to mob their fa3 points

They taste good, pretty mild to be honest so you could do your own seasoning to taste. Good lean meat though like a small rabbit. So I put a fenn in an oak three days ago and had my second catch there today. Other three fenns have been up over two weeks and no catches so going to have to move them I think. Snares still getting pulled though had three pulled but no catch so maybe they need to be up even higher again. Just takes a bit longer teaching yourself lol.3 points

I 100% agree there I no lads that have yards full of working dogs but not a decent bitch in the yard. You have nothing without a decent bitch. I also no lads with a yard of scatter bred dogs and bitches and have lots of waste each year. Family breeding is the way to go and the less outcrossing the better but that’s just my taught. I no they will have to be out crossed some time but only when needs be3 points

Just put your best working bitches to the best working dogs available and get out and test the offspring. There really cant be too much science behind when you consider some of the brain dead, thick c**ts that are regularly breeding decent workers.3 points

If you can consistently produce bitches as good as the dogs then you know you're doing it right. IMO without quality bitches coming through your line is on a downward slope!3 points

Quick up date ,two of the pups have stopped shaking and that only leaves one and shes not that badly effected ,they are gaining weight and are starting to play & chew bones just like normal pups .early days yet ,but its a good sign .3 points

was chatting to a mate yesterday and informed him i PTS my kelpie x last week and i was thinking of looking for a replacement in time ,,he was telling me of a neighbouring farmer friend that has a working collie ,,herds sheep off the hill alone and works cattle as well..he then told me the same man lamps with the collie too and it has in the past caught and KILLED fox single handed ..he has attended lots of digs where the terriers were excavated and they let the collie draw the fox and it finished the job...he has caught rabbits in the pitch dark,,when out with the owner and hunts cover afte2 points

Got chance to test Gavs balls this afternoon! That sounds all wrong!! The balls Gav kindly cast and sent me I mean. I used an old sign that's lay in the grass for years. Take a look and I will explain. I was aiming for the P at 30yds. The two shots close to the P and the shot just above them two were the best load chain today. The high one was the aiming, I was seeing to much barrel and the following two responded perfectly to my adjusted hold. The other three were a different load and unsatisfactory. In saying that the sign easily represents a small deers c2 points

Just got the third from the same patch last night's two came from. Got there before moon rise and spotted her at 90 yards just as I was by a handy gate post. Easy peasy. She was next to a pheasant pen! WMR again. U.2 points

Depends, I would imagine if you lived in Newcastle or Sunderland and followed them football teams then suicide would be a genuine option. A little bit lower you are in Manchester or even Liverpool or just a bit further north and you have the beauty of Scotland. Disappointing there is a gap in between ???2 points

Well ordered my new scope on Tuesday from uttings, came Thursday, new mounts didnt come till Friday from another shop, so now I have the mtc viper pro on my hw100 with FX no limit mounts, does add a bit of weight to the gun but all of my shooting is done prone or off sticks, I have a s***e sense of balance so don't take standers or kneelers.2 points

With been gender neutral we should add in the other 39 sexualitys that can happen and recognise their rights as dogs/bitchs/he males/she males and girls with balls that don't want to be stuck with a label.??? just because they are born in a certain body that doesn't confirm their identity.??2 points

The bitch in my mind is important because like people testosterone will control the male mind and he will work off that hormone and that's why there is a higher percentage of male workers. A good bitch however that works to the same standard as a good dog is very special. She is doing that without that male hormone and naturally should be submissive but if she stands her ground and digs well then there is something different going on because she is doing that without the (I'm the best lover you ever had, I've the biggest dick and I would beat everybody on this website syndrome ) It's not that2 points

Anyone breeding successful workers will not be aware of husbandry or entering ,they will be second nature and taken for granted .Breeding cannot be hidden by poor stockmanship but can be suppressed by an idiot .The best men I've met only keep what will see work and not because it's bred this way or that .Yards full of show ponies to me are the mark of peddlers and pretenders .2 points

That's obvious as agreed on in recent post, to be clearer on what I was trying to get across you can have the best bred pup so to speak but in a fools hand it can be ruined by maybe given to much to soon, as said upbringing will not make a terrier but I believe it's paramount a terrier needs to be looked after regardless because you won't get 100 percent out of a mistreated terrier2 points

I don't try to get caught up in the percentage/genetics side of it to much as I'm sure their is no particular way set in stone, I would think both dog and bitch contribute as much as the other does. I've even a litter hear at the moment the 3 bitchs came like the father chunky type, and both dogs came like the mother leggy broken coated type. I think their temperament is an individual factor as it is in each terrier and to master it threw genes would be a real credit to any man, I see it as some have the temperament for the job some just never will. I'm sure most of us try do what's right by2 points

Greyman, only quoted as I don't know how to 'tag' people. What would be the main benefit of reintroducing the Lynx to the UK? Is it for deer amd fox control? Seems mad to me that these animals were made extinct while man hunted and utilised the meat of the deer and hunted to control the fox population. Then 'man' decided we should no longer hunt deer and fox so let's reintroduce the lynx?! What a waste of deer meat! Surely they must have also been persecuted for attacking livestock etc at the time? Not that I'm against the reintroduction either just trying to understand the argu1 point
