Through @Tyla on this site, a chap I've never met, he has put me in touch with another chap I've never met from New Zealand and I'm now sorting out a trip to hunt Tahr and Chamois in the Southern Alps, backcountry style. Helo in, set up base camp and spot and stalk every day in the alps amongst the mountains and glaciers! It hasn't happened yet but I honestly don't think I could have achieved that without the social reach, networking if you will, that forums like this offer. Folks would do well to remember that even in cyber space, how you conduct yourself impacts how 'lucky' you are9 points

I joined in 2013 and , in that time, I've learned a lot of things about a lot of thngs (from some knowledgeable people) and had many a good laugh. I've questioned many opinions, and had my own questioned just as many times - but always in a fair and genuine manner. I don't contribute much nowadays, simply because the forum doesn't seem, to me, to be the good-natured place it used to be. Too much name-calling, petty grievances and relentless nit-picking.........often by the same culprits. It diminishes the forum as a whole, and paints us all in a bad light, to the outside observer.8 points

I’ve been on here since what 2006? When I moved to the Forest of Dean , used to be on here every evening , seen lot of people come and go ,met few people on here everyone been sound, but reading couple threads has got me wondering how long it will continue , same people rejoin under different names stirring shit up throwing insults , ruins it imho and lot of knowledgable people either don’t post or don’t come on here and with a field sport under constant pressure in these modern times it’s sad. Now I just sit here on my lunch break to pass the time.7 points

I had an hour to spare so decided to take the 17HMR out, I don't get it out enough really, mainly just because I'm a tight old git! Anyway hole number one, ranged at 88 yards with rangefinder, scanning the ground with the scope, a bloody immigrant came into sight, to my absolute disgust it was actually copulating with a local, having no choice I promptly dispatched it, the participant promptly ran off or it would have got the same. Three more locals swiftly followed their demise, as I was waiting to see if any more wanted to play I realised I had my phone, so took pictures too. I the7 points

I hope he's just taking some time out. Wilf was never far from being the centre of controversy but he genuinely believed what he said. He is generally a man of principle and even acknowledges the times he isn't! He was/is one of a small handful of members that I really respected on here. I respect most of course but there's a handful I have a lot of time for. I can say this because he's 'away'. It'd be a bit gay otherwise.6 points

Despite his sometimes ""lost in translation" posts, at least the Whinster posted some interesting stuff, hunting related. Cheers, D.5 points

II know arguments can break out ,but I am genuinely intrigued as to what sort of person goes out of their way to be constantly belligerent and obnoxious ,if one of the usual suspects could pm me and explain their reasoning I would be very grateful.5 points

We have been out a few times now and have had a bit of sport.we started my mates young dog and he went really well for his 1st time only half hour job but he done what he had to do in style.we dug a bitch belonging to myself in very hard ground using a heavy bar to dig the whole way down even the sharptooth would have been of little use in this ground but we got there and little bitch had it we'll in control. We out on Sunday past again and had 2 digs to a mates dogs so all going well so far.4 points

I,m quite new here so don't remember the " good ole days " there is plenty of shit banded about on here and we are all probably guilty to a lesser or greater degree of participating, but every single person I,ve actually met in the flesh has been a decent sort that I,d be glad to meet again, all the rest is just banter that I,m free to take or leave, as is everyone else, so all good ?4 points

ye that another good one above , the young dog not seeing the rabbit at 1st, more so the smaller type lurcher, both my 1xs are quite tall , Bryn 25in , and Buck 28in , so they get on to the rabbits quick . But us humans are 5ft- 6ft of the ground so we see the rabbit better than any dog , i am near 6ft so could alot more than me dogs. But i did go out with a bloke yers ago in the 80s lamping couple times, when i was into racing my none ped little whippet . He hold his little bitch in the air about chest height in his one hand, and the lamp in the other she was only 20lb 20in4 points

Nigh on impossible in a lot of places, lots of shafts are capped but they get dug into by badgers and rabbits and some of the old piles around quarries are fortresses. Cheers, D.3 points

Sorry Terry I was being sarcastic, as I was saying on another thread, you look at some of these places and think 'what good outcome is there going to be from a dog going in there?', if the best is a fox bolting, then I'd think it's best to leave it there.3 points

Just got back in from my new permission. Been out with Stavross giving him the guided tour? Unfortunately came back empty handed? Loads of hares but very few rabbits. One bonus is I reckon this going to be good for Charlie. After having a wonder round getting the lay of the land, who did we see in the distance? Charlie! Just a bit to far to shoot with the 17. Back to the van for Stavs fox caller it was. Got ourselves tucked nicely away in the open shed, this has a great arc over the area Charlie was sniffing round. Gave it an hour with the caller, waiti2 points

I actually was, ham pool in south cerney, I found them alright but spooked the lot when I almost landed on them? I was ok first off, got my mate to make me a big spliff then drove 40 miles to hospital, phoned the misses to say I,d be late and explained why, to which she replied your to fat and to old to be climbing trees, now that really hurt ?2 points

I like to live dangerously also . I was once sent a video of a man on the pads that left me shaking like a shitting dog. i wasn’t sure if it was the speed or the power , but anyway I deleted it , only to see it emerge from the tv in the middle of the night.2 points

One of the farmers had spoke about a lot of rabbits in 1 field were I don't often go and hes' little grass on due to the short fall in rain. Mr wilk and I had decided to have a little drive over to run a net out and see how we fared. Wind was poor and the sky as clear with the moon sitting low but we was there so we give it a go. Working together we ran 2 x 50yd nets out along a hedge line and then made our way around the back of the rabbits walking the field in. due to the house lights lighting up the fields it was possible to see the rabbits getting up. It was good to see even watching2 points
