  5. It used to be big hunt ground, the land behind the sheep is a grouse moor that a lad I know is the head keeper on, sadly it’s died out a fair bit now and I think there’s only one pack now, when it almost stopped the bloke that owned the moor sold more game shooting to keep the money coming in, putting more pressure on the moor, luckily he’s now sold it to a chap who’s more interested is lower number days but better shooting and he’s all for moorland management and not shooting the arse out of it

  6. Ok, well I thought the TAC R1 would make a good "Fun Gun" as it were and decided to buy one. I'd seen a couple down at the range and was already well aware of the S&W 15-22 doing the rounds and it's subsequent success. Semi-auto .22 rimmy? In an AR-15 platform? What's not to like I thought. Cheap ammo, plenty of fun etc, etc. I'm a member of a few clubs so obviously proceeded to take it to one of said clubs, which shall remain nameless in order to protect the innocent. The reactions have been mixed to say the least. Anything from "They're not proper rifles" to "Guns like that give the shoo

  14. Well I’ve got a mate who has 99 problems and thought I’d try and cheer him up with a bit of fox action, I was told that a bloke was worried about lambs he had on a small holding so off we went, on arrival I could see he had nothing to worry about, the size of the lambs a wolf would of struggled to take them, so instead of sitting around on the off chance of calling a ginger I decided to take him for a bit of bunny bashing, letting him have the first few shots a smile soon appeared on his face, he managed 7 and I managed 5 in just over an hour, it was nice to see him turn that frown upside down

  19. No on all counts, but I've been around a good working line and some very good terriermen long enough to know no terrier no matter how good or well bred or good a producer he is will have a 100% success rate with 35 litters. That's not to say he wasn't well bred and didn't throw good stuff I think it's proven he did and but not to that extent! Jmho Sid..

Don't know much about the man or his line but the one thing that struck me about his book (and I could be wrong as it's been a while since I read it, so I'm open to correction), he mentioned breeding poor terriers and states that while he'd only use a v good stud, he would breed off bitches who weren't top class, but whose brothers were very good - Take a chance! An honest admission I thought as opposed to the usual spiel of "I only breed off top class dogs and bitches" etc, etc.."Believe half of what you see and nothing of what you hear!" Springs to mind, just look at the recent post depictin

  27. Recently got a new permission through work. Farmer was constantly having his lambs chewed but not killed. Which resulted in vet bills and his valuable time having to tend to the lambs in the shed. Went out with the lamp first night, called for 20 mins with just a quick glimpse of some eyes. Great a lamp shy fox! Farmer had warned me of this as a few people lamp over his hedges. I left it for a month or so as he was nearing the end of lambing so the pressure was off slightly with stronger lambs out in the fields. Went out with the lamp again and after 10 mins of calling had a fox at

  32. These bullets, even rimfire bullets, are in a different league to airgun pellets including fac air, when it comes to carrying power and strike energy. You can’t underestimate them, and they need absolute respect in their ability to damage what they hit. When moving up from airguns, they are a learning curve, no doubt about it.

  40. That’s a proper set up??? we buy ours in on our shoot, straight into the pens but we have a young lad on the shoot that hatches a few wildies in his garden, last year he managed about 50ish so we banded them and if you shot one you had to give him 5 quid, he was the richest man on the shoot on a couple of occasions, I’m going to show him this and tell him to ask his dad to sort him some space in one of the poultry sheds, he’ll torture the poor old fella ?

Don't laugh at my bits of net and string its to stop the truss hitting the ground and spoiling. Along with Shirley the Sun Gold both have slight early blight but the other two are

  43. No one knows what a no.deal will mean....it's unchartered territory....so any studies, papers general rambling is guess work from both sides of the argument.. Bottom line is the majority voted out, the will of the people needs to be upheld for any form of democracy to continue in this country....if a deal can't be brokered (which is looking less and less likely)...then a no deal Brexit is the only option... futures in our hands...well our symbolic politicians hands lol
