She flushed a pheasant and a woodcock yesterday. First sign of her hunting really. Was well chuffed. The pheasant had sheep netting between us and I could see it sitting tight. If we had been other side she would had a chance seeing as she seems to wear jet boots. Or if I could figured out which of my fifty pockets my catapult was in ? seems very bird orientated which suites me perfectly

One one place I've been playing cat and mouse with a fox for a few months now. Seen him a few times, at least once he followed me but I couldn't quite see my sights in the evening light. Nearly as he came into me mouse squeaking and I was just able to make the sights out at 60yds but he made me just before I fired. Good days prep today potato and leek soup done for starters beef cooked, chicken cooked, all veg prepared, sprouts sorted ready to go in with bacon, cauliflower cheese made, cream cabbage made, parsnips ready to be roasted with honey, batter made for yorkie puds, gravy made, spuds ready to be roasted in duck fat lemon loaf with custard for afters ( didn’t make the custard) All this for 1 day, mental ?

There are quite a lot of single lonely people living on the boats and on new year I will do a massive beef joint in the slow cooker loads of bread rolls get a fire pit going on the grass and invite them all out, did the same last year had 17 people out some will bring pots of roasters some alcohol and some nothing but everyone had a great night with the maddest mix of people I’ve ever seen from hells angels to drag artists and everything in between, ??

Beef and pork today; nodded off watching a film about 4 and not long woke up.

Me and Mills had been looking for a gap just before Christmas to get out; finding a break in the weather and schedules wasn't easy though. Happy festivities all round fellas .Might attend the punch up at Lacock tomorrow traditionally known as the Boxing Day meet . Wont follow as they don’t hunt feck all ,just a ride out . Ratting next week on a pig farm .Stalking day after then a day pike fishing followed by look out with terriers for a fox or two . New year means a new kitchen for us and the work getting that ready entails .Rip out old ,new dry lining ,ceiling electrics ,plumbing and skim .New boiler and water softener going in . Few nights shooting whatever to fit in too . Hope all goes well for everyone

Just been in the garden and laid Celt to rest. 15 and half and been my best mate for all that time. Was surprising what this lad could do, ferreting, lamping, work with the gun etc etc. A desperation mating with my old digging terrier and my 3/4 collie grey as the dog I wanted to cover her couldn't do it but my terrier could! I had the mother scanned and if she had been coming with a belly full I would probably have aborted them but the vet said 3 or 4 so I let the birth happen. We've had some adventures, plenty of which I couldn't post on here. Celt was the last one still

i buried cloud my 7th gen deerx grey, last thursday, he was 11yrs old, but had developed bone cancer, to say im gutted would be an understatement, shed a few tears not ashmed to admit it, thats 2 dogs ive lost this year, the other one to bloat at 5yrs of age, but thats dogs for you, no pictures of the old boy, but as you lads say plenty of great memories, rest easy old boy,you are sorely missed, but i know i always did right for you.

Well l had my Daughter and the Grandchildren ,well the three Grand teenagers , over last night .It's a bit of an annual pre Christmas thingy . First time l ever provided more food than they could eat. They brought their dog which was fine until she decided playing card games would be more exciting for everyone if she jumped on the table .? It seems that eldest Grandchild thought it fitting to repay my hospitality by making me subject to an amusing feature on her phone. All great fun! I wish you all a good Chrismas and New Year.??️??
