What I don’t understand is if it’s so simple as supermarkets doing whatever they want why farmers aren’t cooperatively striking? NFU? If supermarkets can’t get eggs at the price they want then they’ll pay more surely? Naive view sure, but I’d like to hear why. If farmers are really going bust at current prices then the supply will collapse and the prices will have to go up to bolster it anyway. Ive got mates in farming and we’ve all listened to how farming is f****d for decades. But they’re all still managing skiiing holidays and new discos/RRs… even the non land owning lads still af4 points

Just watched the first session of the semi-final between O'Sullivan and Higgins. O'Sullivan has been slow to get into his stride in the competition up to now, and started the same here against Higgins. Went 3-0 down then got going with some brilliant snooker and ended the session 4-4. Its the first to 17 frames, so I think it will suit O'Sullivan, but Higgins is playing well, but may fade over the next three sessions. I think whoever wins this semi will play Trump in the final, he's 7-1 up against Williams in the other semi. Top class snooker ? Cheers.3 points

An Irish man went to confession in St. Patrick's Catholic Church. 'Father', he confessed, 'it has been one month since my last confession... I had sex with Fanny Green twice last month.' The priest told the sinner, 'You are forgiven. Go out and say three Hail Mary's.' Soon thereafter, another Irish man entered the confessional. 'Father, it has been two months since my last confession. I've had sex with Fanny Green twice a week for the past two months.' This time, the priest questioned, 'Who is this Fanny Green?' 'A new woman in the neighborhood,' the sinner replied. 'Very wel3 points

Farmers are also partly to blame for staffing difficulties. Farmers do in many cases live on another planet, if I'd of had decent bosses paying what I knew they could afford I'd probably still be milking cows, at least part time.....i know a lot of other lads who left the industry for the same reason. When you eat your dinner while driving a tractor or expected to interrupt your food 4 times to keep checking on a calving cow.....then see your wage has been docked an hours dinner break! I know lots of farmers, many good friends, but non understand managing people3 points

Best guard, protection dog I've owned, a pit/Am bulldog, not pretty and no bluff in her as she proved many times. Sadly had to PTS last week at nearly 13. R.I.P Hurley. She protected all the family and never hurt any of my other animals from terriers to baby chickens but hated all other humans.3 points

Two of the buzz words in weapons development currently are networking and AI. We've seen the unprecedented proliferation of unmanned combat and recon drones in the last decade or so. There's trials going on recently with how to get these things 'smarter' and more coordinated, as you say swarming technologies. Decent guided weapons already have some degree of decision making ability. Programmed to 'hunt' in a designated area for enemy targets with the ability to prioritise high value or avoid high risk. Applying that to drones and incorporating AI takes it to the next level. Having ev2 points

I never came across anything exactly like that but when I cleared out the old Roneo Vickers factory years ago they used trolleys on a rail system. It was a leftover from when they made ammunition and aircraft parts in the war and they just continued using them for the sheet steel.2 points

Could be narrow gauge bogey's for moving big timber in a saw mill posable to feed a big band saw. I worked for a timber company when I was young and there was rail lines in the concrete in front of some of the big saws that were not used any more. On one of those bogeys I see a lever with what looks like a roller that I presume is for raising what ever sat on it. Cheers Arry2 points

Shot in the dark I’m afraid. Some years ago I dived a disused pit in our village. Originally it was a clay pit for the local Hepworth clay pipe company. Anyway, I found a set of bogeys on very narrow gauge track which were drawn my the then pit ponies up to th surface. Must admit they look very similar. Jok.2 points

Then you get folk like me. Farm thousands of sheep, a pile of cows, and work for others contracting . . . . but no chance I could afford a farm. They are all bought by folk from London. . . . who then rent it to me . . . . . and claim the subsidy and payments on the land I farm.2 points

The supermarkets, are a major cause of animal cruelty imo. Animals and birds are pushed to ever more limits to improve profitability. As soon as their efficiency drops below the required standard they are slaughtered. The average consumer doesn't think about welfare, they just look at price. Yet, often, they are the same people who give us stick for providing our own food via country sports. The hypocrisy is staggering. There is way more barbaric cruelty in intensive farming than there is in shooting, fishing or coursing. Try telling townies that though.2 points

Does that discount the notion of a buffer zone between the west and Russia though mate ? Of course, all you say is true but that don’t mean planting NATO (and the EU chequebook) on the border of Russia won’t have consequences. No country in the world would stand for it, certainly not America if the boot was on the other foot. I don’t see what’s so complicated about saying “OK, no membership for Ukraine” Then mate you have a case if he embarks on a full scale invasion. You can’t goad the man into a fight then paint him as the bad guy when he says “ok then” That is2 points
