Wow ,straight to the insults ,no foreplay ,no gradual worsening of banter ,no rhetorical questioning of poor ketchups knowledge ,or fighting ability ,..just straight in with the sole intention of hurting that man's feelings ....shameful .10 points

Out for couple of hours in a field today two coins, bit gutted worn. A bit of brass that I think horses reins went through. A rivet fro an old belt that probably drove a thrashing machine. And a bit of no ferris slag. Thought I was on the colour when I first saw the shine in the black mud of the river mud the other day. An old oil lamp top that still works if you put a wick in it. One of the deepest things I have found. Cheers Arry7 points

Evening all. I usually keep myself to myself on here and enjoy reading and learn from other experiences, but i thought today's events needed sharing! Gained some new permission this year on the land around a cheese factory after randomly talking to the manager about the rabbit problem they had around the gardens and driveways. The rabbit population is good with each days ferreting producing 15 or more rabbits. The down side to the job is it is located very close to the main town and there are footpaths all over the land. Most people either pass on by with out as much a6 points

Unfortunately lads, this type of foolishness is becoming far more common.? Back in the day, when I was working for several Councils, Local Authorities, Countryside Parks, etc, encountering the public ,could be a right pain.. Some folk have amazing imaginations, and get themselves all worked up over feck all,...God knows what horrors they imagine to be going down.? There is always a temptation to become abusive, and to fight fire with fire, but however tempting,.. this is not the best approach. Indeed, the wording on many contracts often stipulated that we should keep all ne5 points

Ive done the same fields time and time again and still find stuff, different ground conditions can give signals you might not have picked up previously like you’d get a better signal over damper ground than dry and also a most machines have different programs installed and you can f**k about with them to suit the ground your on .when you think you’ve done a field to death there’s still stuff on it ?4 points

I had some permission on a smallholding with 2 footpaths running through it in a popular tourist area. I had took several lads on it over the years as it was a handy spot. One day we had a woman screaming at us so one of my 2 companions gutted a rabbit in front of her which made our day ?? Same place, different day, lots of dog walkers, fella with a Staffy off the lead, despite signs saying All dogs on leads, came over, told him to call it back, he said he's ok. Dog came to the hole we'd dug and scoffed the guts of 5 rabbits ??? Cheers, D.4 points

Nancy is eight months today, so weighed and measured her. 65lb and 27 3/4". Shes losing her puppy fat and gaining muscle now. She flushed her first roe the other day; nose down, tail up on a "hot scent", then head up "air scenting". She dived into some rough and a roe shot out the other side ! She missed it, but I was pleased with her finding ability, and there will be plenty more opportunities in the future, I'm sure. Cheers.4 points

It's a sickener mate I lost my 2 year old stafford to lymphoma. One minute he was fine next min he was a total mess lost 7kg in five days. Went from 17kg to 10kg looked shocking. There was no signs at all in him until the last week. He just went off his scran which I knew from that as he could eat lol. The day I knew he wasn't right is when a could feel like golf ball size lumps under his jaw line which the vet told me was his glands that were up. The vet said it looks like he's got load of fluid in his belly so will x Ray him see what's what. Came back an his words was f**k me I've never seen4 points

Well done nice bag of bunnies there. We get this problem regular we do a lot of national trust land and as you can imagine it’s full of walkers that’s why if we can we do it mid week less walkers around. As you say most people are fine but you do get the odd one that is a pain in the arse, we had one women one day asked us why are we being cruel and putting baby otters down rabbit holes!! and another one we had a longnet surrounding a Warren under a tree and the bloke came past and asked us is there a cat stuck up the tree!!! I rest my case ??4 points

earlier today, i sadly lost my 5yr old deerhoundx greyhound to bloat, vet did emergency op on him,but sadly he didnt make it,had lots of lurchers in my 6+years on this planet, but first time losing a dog to this, freddie was no world beater, but he was an honest and loyal pal to me, and always gave his best,he kept me going when i was going through a rough time health wise, to say im going to miss him is going to be an understatement, run free freddie my loyal pal, seems to get harder to deal with now im getting older.3 points

It was a 9mm...? That wee gun had a special task to perform... For many years, I freelanced on several Holiday Camps .. The rabbits used to sit under the chalets, and if you lay flat , you could just about make out their shapes, in the half light. I used to aim for their twitching whiskered face, and as they kicked and rolled around, I used a bamboo pole with a metal coat hanger, to retrieve my catch..? Most days I did 20 conies, sometimes more... Strange, that in the years to follow, I was employed to look after most of the Holiday camps, in Southern England...3 points

Phil ,I used the same word when I posted my disgust on their page earlier..... embarrassment!!! Then the patronising words that you don't need to take one for the pot nowadays as food is easily available ?....... since when do Cheshire police decide that you only feed yourself in the Tesco as they say so.? If you trespass on land to ferret you get nicked but you can trespass all over private land wearing a balaclava on the weekend call yourself a hunt monitor and at the worst you get asked to leave... Selective policing at its finest, probably due to the fact most lurcher w3 points

This reminds me of an encounter with law while out ferreting back in the 60's ( where has time gone). Four of us in an old Ford Popular set off for Dartmoor about 10 miles from my home town just thinking it was common land and we could go anywhere. Driving across the Moor not far from Prince Town and rabbit crossed the road and went into a burrow so we pull up and started to till up nets. Next thing holy hell breaks loose a police car then another Morris thousand with the different colour doors then a copper on a motor bike then a Mini Moke police car. They rounded all 4 of us up one shouting2 points

Bloat does seem more prevalent in pure Deerhounds. A pal of mine lost a pregnant bitch, and a, relatively, young dog to bloat. I think I got lucky with my previous deer/grey bitch, she was still working at 10, developed mammary tumours at 11, which spread to her lungs at 12, leading to me putting her down. Previous to this she never had an illness. My deer/grey pup is going to be a big bitch, I hope I get the same trouble free years from her. Cheers.2 points

Yeah,. I suppose reading a proud boast, of how a ferreter was collared by a Police Officer, still makes me a bit sad.. Even if the Landowner had reported seeing the fellow, netting up a warren on his land,.. the Officer could still have shown some class and said, "Leave him/them to me Sir,.. I'll give them a proper warning and get them fecked off your land".. Such a task requires no courage or canny police work , after all, a ferreter with nets laid and ferret underground, is unlikely to do a runner.. Rabbiters waiting on a bury are extremely vulnerable,.. they are easily captured .2 points

In my opinion, that Officer is an embarrassment to his profession.. Considering the awful crimes that are being committed, day in, day out,.. what actual policing work did he do ? Ah yes, he found out that a working dog had not been injected, with an identity chip! The remainder of his amazing capture, was childishly easy.. The trespasser freely admitted to the offence and caused him no problems... Why not save all the paperwork, and simply tell him to gather up his ferrets and nets, and get the feck off the land... What must his colleagues think of him....2 points

How will we even know if people work them alot of billy bullshiters on here ? but here's one anyhow and it does work2 points

a beddywhippet will suit you well. they are not really a running dog, but will be fine for country walks and ferreting. a good one will work cover and find game, rabbit, squirrel, pheasant etc. they will catch on short runs. they are easy to live with, in house etc. great country companion. need to get one from working stock, some sky high prices around but I would say about £400 a fair price but that's my take on it?2 points

I would get more satisfaction from the breeze block trap. What you do is carry one upstairs and wait until the rat is in the box and drop the f***ing block on the dirty b*****d.2 points
