Hi Tats,.no the dog was bred from a collie/Grey bitch owned by Tony, a full-time rabbit catcher from Burnley.. I originally met the guy at the Waterloo Cup, and he was raving about the sagacity and working abilities of his rabbiting gal, so I had to take a look. He was spot on about her and I said if he ever bred a litter, please keep me in mind...? When the bitch came in season, Tony told me to come on up and get a pup.. The Sire of Moocher was Gary Hosker's Bedlington Lurcher , Spud... Gary had pick of litter and offered it to me,...initially as a gift,..but when I trav11 points

just for lamping I'd go for a pure whippet, for daytime bushing/ferreting i'd add a bit of beddy/grey but keep it 3/4 sighthound. Beddy/whippet X grey, 23 inches, basically a bred down grew with a rough coat and an attitude.10 points

It might just be a coincidence of course but ive noticed the types of people coming out with all this " rebel without a mask " caper are usually the sheltered life types who have never had any real conflict in life and now see themself all " i take no shit "...........people i know who have had REAL issues and REAL conflict in life just get on with wearing a mask for a quiet life ! Save your " i stand up to anyone/nobody tells me what to do " for when its actually required !5 points

I've used this Tan & white dog for a good number of years ,he's a dog I use with the ferrets over a gun or nets ,he can do it all ,flushing ,bringing back to hand , apart from running down a rabbit out in the open .Around the nets he's cat like & doesn't miss many, "Happy" is a cross between a Jack Russell and a English springer Spaniel .5 points

I have one little one come under the ferret hutch every night even in the winter. One one in the winter was tiny never thought he would make it through but he did and he's there early about 5pm to beat all the others. Two there last night side by side to a vid but no still. I have holes cut at the Botton of my fence and gate I do encourage them with a bowl of ferret food. Had five in the garden in one night before now been coming for years. Cheers Arry5 points

Think there are plenty about but people tend not to notice, my house was on one of the busiest roads in the country, none of my neighbor,s ever saw them or new of there existence yet a bowl of dog food would get upto 6 a night in my back garden, misses has just started doing some volunteering in the local hedgehog sanctuary we’re we are now seems plenty here as well ?5 points

I've decided to stop wearing my mask in shops today. I will carry one and if I'm near to elderly people in a queue I'll put it on or if its particularly busy. If staff ask me to wear it I will as their job is hard enough. Other than that I'm just cracking on now.4 points

Never really had huge bags of rabbits, I guess low 30's is about it with one dog, and to be honest, that's probably the exception rather than the rule. I remember, and get more pleasure, out of what I call " one fielders"; like when a Beddy type took ten rabbits and a hare from one field, or when a deer x took five hares from one field, on the lamp. Other things that give me great pleasure is when a young dog takes its first daytime roe buck, or when a nine year old bitch has its first run out of a motor on fallow, and pulls the first and only one it runs, without making a fool of it3 points

The way I understand it about masks is they werent meant to protect the wearer ,but other people ,they are no where near 100% effective ,but the cut down the distance and amount of anything untoward you are breathing out ,this alongside social distancing seems to me a reasonable precaution to take ,infact it seems sensible .3 points

No and no. I wear one because I get anxiety really bad partly covid and couple death scares so I get panic attacks so wearing a mask gives me abit of stability maybe it's all a load of shit I dont have the answer but it makes me feel ok when I'm out and about dont give 2 fecks what others do with themselves but I will look after myself ?3 points

53 and a goose, I stopped at that because I had another hard night's lamping planned the next night and the same dog had already done 33 and a goose the night before. Had a good night with tomo we had 85 I think with 2 dogs a hare and a partridge between us. Wish we has carried on to do the ton that night. Best bag local 51 with one dog and 71 with 2 dogs, birds Bryn ran himself hard that night. Same dog used in all the above nights3 points

Big carp in the UK are a huge investment for a fishery, some of them are worth a couple of grand. There are also the fish on big pits that may not have been caught for years. The last thing you want is some clown letting them flap about on hard baked banks or gravel. So really it’s just a basic welfare issue, doing what you can because you can. No different to looking after your game areas or raising birds for a shoot, no reason to be casual when you can do a bit more than that and keep things really good type stuff.3 points

A phone call today from the bloke with the helicopter, saying that there’s rabbits all over his pitch and putt golf course at the front of his house, so dusted the little cz.17 off, because you can’t get anywhere near them and off I went for an hour. There’s certainly a few about, I managed 11 just off the front garden, furthest 144 yards, closest 71, I shot one that the mixy had got a grip of, hopefully this isn’t the shape of things to come ?3 points

For me this little dog at the front has to be one of the best rabbit dogs I’ve seen work.. not my dog but had pleasure of working him.. he was a deerhound/greyhound x collie/greyhound 24inches tall he had that do or die attitude about him still amazes me how he caught on the places and land he did not just rabbits either a real dog worth shouting about3 points

? Taken a lot of rabbits over the last 60 years with various working dogs,....but, under the spotlight,..I would think that 78 with my Sadie , back in the 1980's would be the most that I've grassed in a night. Now I know that lads have bagged up , on the Dales and similar rabbit laden areas, but back then, such Elysian Fields were unknown to me. We were poaching in West Sussex, mostly on stubble, and it was strictly a case of lamp on, lamp off, and keep on moving..? You could not get yourself or the dog into any kind of rhythm, it was all in and out , guerrilla tactics,.hardly conduc3 points
