Saturday saw me and my mate Alec traveling upto our mate Malcolm’s to do a spot of lamping the conditions weren’t favourable has it went still and the ground was very sodden but that’s lamping for you, I was very impressed with Alec’s bitch Luna she ran very well and didn’t miss much, Malcolm,s little bitch ran well to and for her size she does very well, I ran my dog Dan he has a different style of running to the other two dogs but he’s still has effective and he ran well to, we where fortunate to have a lad with us who’s pretty handy with a camera ? and he took a few pics of the dogs, cheer21 points

It's quite a common occurrence among serious shooters ....others call it the "I missed but it ran in that hole shot "9 points

My kids have been asking to go night time ferreting as they really enjoy it lol. Just taped fishing star lights to the collars and off we go. Picked a nice easy set out in the open with plenty of bunnies in. The bunnies seem to bolt really quickly at night. Maybe it's because they are top of the set. I'm going to run longnet round the set and they have just 10 nets each.and going to film them on my thermal.7 points

ZacB - the kids really enjoy ferreting at night time it's funny when the ferret pops it's head up with the star lights on as they really stand out. Made me laugh about the socks they are actually thermal ones that's my daughter whose socks you can see ? It didn't quite go as planned as had to take little lad home after an hour and a half as just got all the long net up (left the purse nets off), bunnies were bolting out all over the shop and then he took a right tumble down a rabbit hole so decided to take him home as he was whinging a bit and he had left a few bits behind as it was all a7 points

Went out for a few hours with the pup on his own tonight. Nice and dark but not much wind so most stuff was moving off quickly but we managed four and was really close on a couple of others. Only smallish fields where they hit the hedges fast. He’s starting to run the beam well now and trusting me even if he can’t see anything. Starting to become a nice shape but still piling the food in him as he’s not quite 1 yet and already proved to me he’s fully committed to whatever it is he does. Let’s hope it doesn’t change5 points

Due to the fact I had a lazy Sunday, I thought I better go out and stretch my legs. Got this dog fox the in one of the paddocks. As I was very close to the sheep sorting race I thougth I might as well weigh him, 10kg if his scales are weighing right.4 points

Here are a few pics from the UP. I was up there hunting bears and though I didn't shoot one I saw a few. The first one has a collar and ear tags which means he's part of the Predator-Prey study the Department of Natural Resources is running. They trap and collar deer, wolves, coyote, and of course bears. Then they keep track of who eats who. So, if I shot this bear I guess I would have been part of the study. The valley is the Sturgeon River Gorge in Houghton county.3 points

I really don’t think £325 is a lot of money for a dog that could give you 12-15 years of graft and companionship. I’d much rather pay £325 for the right dog than £50 for the wrong one. I’ve spent literally thousands of pounds putting my injured dogs back together over the years and done it willingly so would have no problems paying that for the right well breed pup. In case anyone is wondering I have never sold a dog in my life and I am not defending my own pricing policy! I paid £350 15 years ago when that was a serious amount of money to me for a well breed lurcher pup I had waited several y3 points

I hear what you say but I have a lot of different calibres because they each do a job, of course there are elements of overlap, but a Hornet is way more than a HMR (too much more in some situations) and not everyone has a desire to reload.2 points

For a workhorse of a rifle then I'd stick with the CZ, trigger kit or not! You will pay more for most others, and in some cases a lot more for no improvement in the things that count, accuracy, repeatability and reliability. If you really are moving away from CZ most others seem to work ok, but if you are determined I hear good things about the new Tikka T1x.2 points

You are quite right I'm an old timer and must be mis reading . When people refer to "gear" they must mean foxes . I hold my hands up I'm from back in the old days when foxes were considered far less of a test for a working terrier than a badger ..... times were different then .... dog men hadn't been robbed of their sport with a raft of laws making it a bigger crime to step out with a terrier and spade than it is to beat and rob an old lady . My mistake I apologise2 points

Back in the late forties and fifties When father and grandfather loaded it was a case of necessity because cartridges were (A) difficult to get ( There was still wartime rationing until 53) and (B) expensive for their pocket at that time. Father’s kit comprised a bike spoke to knock the primers out, A shot /powder measure, a couple of bits of wood as a base, a wad cutter and a ramrod. They made wads out of cardboard and felt when they could afford it and get it. No ordinary people wasted cartridges shooting clays and as no one had a fridge so they only shot what they ate so the cartridge co2 points

you must be reading my mind matey, one day last week, my doctor came out to see me, asked how I felt and my thoughts, she asked so I told, suicidal were my thoughts, until a certain person from duggie mac came into my life, people dunna just pass, and that's it, within days of her passing, the paperwork that came through my door demanding me repay overpaid benefits, and because of my illness my lady was still at the morgue waiting for me to get better, is was overwhelming. I couldn't handle it, then a lady from duggie mac, stepped in, In such a short time , has done everything for me, things2 points
