  2. So sorry to hear this sad news... Alan was a superb net maker and enjoyed the old style ways of harvesting game...He also liked hunting with a dog and during the late 1980s, he contacted me for a lurcher pup. He came down to my place in Hampshire and I let him have a nice strong Red Merle dog, from my Australian Cattle Dog lurcher x Collie /Greyhound litter...and like anyone else, back in the day, he quite rightly asked to see the Dam of his new pup working. We had a quick shine with my Speckle and Alan saw,... what he needed to see... He was a nice genuine countryman...?

  3. Bang on mate.. ive drummed it into my kids how lucky they are.. Finley is in an after school surfing club, he gets on the school mini bus at 3-30 and is in the water at 5 for 2 hours back to be picked up at 8-30... now how many kids around the country get to be taught how to surf through school?? I honestly love Devon and Cornwall, it’s nowhere near as breathtaking as the highlands, Lake District or Snowdonia or stunning as the west coast of Scotland, none of the cut and thrust of London, Manchester, Liverpool etc.. its a prick to get anywhere unlike the midlands, but

  4. Not too bad where I am, if you like hunting, shooting and fishing Scotland is hard to beat. I do miss my coarse fishing but I do not miss hustle, bustle and jam packed roads.

  5. Very knowledgeable from pickling an onion to making a net. I have some of his nets here and they will be that bit special now. Glad I took the time to listen and learn from him as I don't know any one else like him.

  8. View Advert Lurcher pups The dam is the Merlin/Eve breeding she is the ? at the bottom......The sire is equally bred from a long line of working bedlington / greyhounds going back to the mid 80s. I have decided to call coursing a day and get back fully into my first love lamping . I chose a sire from a long line of bedlington/greyhounds with a good working history..i have seen him take rhfd , and is now in semi retirement due to the heavy life working he has had. The pups are bred for lamping and general mouching , i know i have ruine

  9. Didn't have much luck replying to your question through messages.....so I'll try here.... Mines not as busy, busy as a springer ,neither crashes cover like one, but has the drive to hunt of one. Very gentle, loving nature and extremely bright. My positive comments for this breed are solely based on the style of hunting I do which is walking while the dog hunts in the day (95%) occasionally walking at night with my torch. You will get faster chase and catch dogs. It's not interested in foxes etc which suits me just fine. If you wanted a dog to bolt to if you were doing bushing there's also

  11. I can hear about atrocities and think, shit that's bad and have sympathy, but, that's it. If it doesn't affect me or my family, I move on and forget. All this outpouring of grief from people who didn't know people seems to be the norm now. I used to hear the term professional mourner bandied about, seems it's making a comeback.

  19. Even when they get older mate, the fruits of your labour will still keep on rewarding you and though the girls are,nt as keen as when they were baby,s they are still much more switched onto the outdoors and things around them than most of there generation, the boy has taken over the torch and fills me with pride on a regular basis, I was told on a weekly basis that I was cruel or even a bad parent when he used to night fish with me right through the winter sleeping in a unhooking Matt in the Back of my bivvie as a baby but he seems to have grown up ok

  24. They said on the news today that Theresa May, now that she has listened to those doctors, has agreed to consider cannabis for medicinal use. They also said that she basically admitted that she now sees it in a new light because she has chosen to hear the debate and evidence for its use. That pissed me off a bit - why couldn't she be open minded enough to listen in the first place - especially when it's less addictive and less damaging than morphine which, I've personally seen plumbed up to patients on a cancer ward like it was going out of fashion.

  32. In fairness, both Chris and Wilf aren't shy about laying into the administrations of their respective new homelands. LOL They're just both highly critical of government wherever they find it. So am I. The results of politics in the UK is pretty much the only gripe I have with the place.
