  3. Ive owned a few and i wish i had my time again to own a few more, many of us where about when this type of lurcher was readily available and a few of us have a fondness for what they brought and bring to the kennel. Its a sad reflection of the lurcherworld now that this type of lurcher slipped from popularity as standards and traditions dropped. This type was a lurchermans lurcher and the popular lurcher types now are a better reflection of the era we live in and a truer type of lurcher is no longer really appreciated now.

  4. Not anymore! Two weeks ago Jonesy had a savage ferret that he left with me for a couple of weeks , this ferret was as fierce as I have ever seen , I would put my hand in the cage and he would charge over and lock on, the first time he bit right through a leather glove, drew blood and left me a scar. This is Dozer now.

  7. Rik and I headed up the copse again this evening to see what was about. Maybe the last time up there for a while as the leaf cover is getting quite dense now although it does help with concealment. We took our usual places and in the first fifteen minutes a crow landed directly above me providing a very easy shot. Then for the next hour or so it was quite quiet apart from a few magpies, a jay and a crow coming in but not providing any opportunities for a shot. Then a woodie did land directly above but the thick leaf canopy deflected the shot. Rik managed a nice woodie so we both had some actio

  8. Had a session on the sparrowhawk's, these are wild birds that come to dead baited perches, I had the male come in for 3 visits taking Siskin and mice and the female for a superb 7 visits taking Blue Tit and mice - what an awesome day of photography and nature.

  11. Freshly from my workshop, a very small "Wanderer" with only 75mm blade made from 1.3505. Silver soldered guard from nautical bronze, spacers from fiber, copper, buffalo and aluminium, handle from a nice piece of sambar stag. Pommel from bronze. Kind regards Nico

  14. Rangers 3rd considering where they have had to come back from over the past few years is awesome really and also says a lot about how weak that league is. Give it a couple of seasons and I don’t reckon the lads in hoops will be laughing much then.

  18. 2-3 a night when I'm working 5-6 when I'm not. The last few years since moving to the mountains have been the best sleep I've ever had but I've suffered from insomnia from as far back as I can remember. Sure it takes years off your life but it's the sh*t ones at the end where you're in a home and the staff are stealing money from you...

  25. Never had to as yet Fred but I’ve come damn close on a few occasions , as I’ve got older I need to get the old adrenaline running ( just to keep me alive ?) and I find I’m going places I’d never have dreamed of in search for that rush . I took a lad freelancing one night and come close to leaving everything behind.. he still comments on what a lovely night we had and we should go back to that permission again ??

  26. Watched one take out a herring gull a few years ago. It was on a power station and I think the gull had strayed to close to the peregrine’s nest on a cooling tower. Amazing sight. I’ve seen them stoop and chase prey, and seen them carrying caught prey, but that’s the only strike I’ve ever actually seen. The gull never knew what hit it.

  32. I’ve always suffered with poor sleep I’ve never been an an early to bed type and used to regularly just stay awake all night doing things as it was too late to bother if o am needed anywhere very early or a long distance away , I can’t sleep and consequently have to travel or go through the night. I regularly travelled nearly 800 miles a weekend for numerous years. 350 of this would be done on a Sunday night , with very little effort and sometimes take 4 hrs, sometimes 8 , but I found it easier to loose a nights sleep and straight into work on Monday I once taught all d

  42. Get down there and watch and listen to the old boys. You'll soon find out they grow the most, the biggest and the best. Lol. Early potatoes need going in now but ridge them up as you set the rows or else that late frost will bite them. Broad beans should have been in by now but not too late. Peas can be soaked for 24 hours and they can then go in. Cabbage, Durham Early, if you have or can get some plants are ok. If you like your corn then get them soaking for a couple of days and then pot them up either in the greenhouse or certainly under a fleece. Towards the end of the month everything will
