  1. the neighbors invited my wife and i round to a bbq for their nephew coming over from Australia for Xmas, they laid on a lovely spread, sausage rolls, cheese and spinach rolls, Chinook salmon with brown sugar soy sauce and garlic, big prawns, home made salmon pate and crackers, moose pepperoni, and a big moose rump joint, plus the norm....bread rolls potatoes etc..... the moose was hunted/shot/jointed by the neighbors brother, he also made the moose pepperoni and caught the salmon, we had never tasted moose meat before so we were itching to try it....it had been on the rotisserie for 3-4 h

  3. What happened to the Lakeland worker was nothing but a disgrace and sadly some of the idiots who caused it's demise as a worker were the same men who get all the credit for turning it into a worker. They couldn't refuse the almighty £££££££££££££ and shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as hunting men. Back in the day when there were plenty of good working Jack Russells I always though of them as the thinking mans terrier. The man who needed a terrier for badgers, and then some for fox and then ones that could be used for stopping and bolting or called out if digging was out of the q

  7. About two years ago I was working on a property in the central tablelands NSW when the bosses wife called me to rescue a baby fox down a mine shaft. These people would have to be the kindest farmers in Australia. The cub was almost dead on a ledge about 20ft straight down with another 30ft drop after that.I tied a rope around my waist and went in on a ladder. It looked about three weeks old .The missus got it back to health feeding it chicken mince, rabbit an its favourite dead birds. It would follow her around the paddock even collecting the eggs amongst the chickens and sleep in an old ferret ca

  12. In the 60s a bloke would come round the pubs selling it there were two types one was Piping and the other was Hodge, Hodge was pressed , it cost two and half pence a tub and was eaten cold with Vinegar and pepper the same man also sold Pigs feet Sheep, Cow heel was nice eaten cold and often added too Stews, my Mam and sister also ate something called Wesum , this was a cows throat also eaten cold or again added to stews, it was all cheap and tasty snack food for the working folk and most people my age would have been brought up on it because in those days there was nothing else.

  20. Just been reading an old post or two in the Airgun BBS forum Jimmy/ lads about the HW 35 leather/ synthetic seal. It`s under " collectable Air Guns" - HW 35 leather or synthetic seal. This particular guy has a leather seal (piston) that needs replacing and is going to buy a Chambers conversion. One of the HW boffs (Mick) says - " Don`t do it " ! He says, - the steel adaptor adds weight to the piston and also shortens the 65mm stroke. He goes on to say,- The best bet is to buy a

  23. IMO most sensible thinking terrier men will use a type that suits their country and style of digging. Quarry is a big factor too. So for that reason IMO it's not an accident that the black terriers followed by the Jack Russells are the most common types worked. Years ago I always found that the all round terrier man used a Jack Russell and the man who liked to spend all day at one big place used the fell types. But work wise the fell working type is nearly confined to the black ones now. Other types now and again become fashionable, ie. the borders, beddies and Cork terriers but it d

  30. Like Chris above,I'm honest about my dogs & being around running dogs for many years you know from pretty early on in a dogs career if it's going to make the grade,if you have a gut feeling that something just isn't right in regards to a dogs work ethic you can bet your bottom dollar in time when you look back your were right on the money with that gut feeling..you can choose to work to the dogs strengths because it will have some or you can move on & start again with another young gun,yes of course breeding helps but that doesn't guarantee success,it tips the odds in your favour but n

  35. Just to give everyone the full picture here cause I think most of you are misunderstanding, I've had the pup from 6 weeks old and I've put 100% effort in to him from day 1, genuinely he's one of my favourite dogs I've ever had, the reason I bought him was because he was marketed as lucky the dark destroyer lines so I assumed great dog = great pups, obviously I was a bit more naive then about coursing breeding breeding etc but I bought him anyway and that was that, he killed his 1st single handed on September 19th at a day over 12 months and over the next to months of say he killed 50% of the h
