With the wife taking our 2 daughters to Manchester for the weekend, it was time to get some perching done... I've a list as long as my arm to do at our place, but I wasn't in the mood this weekend..lol We're starting to see a few decent perch come out of the ponds we use for the THL comp, so Saturday I had a session on my own, chopped worm and maggot and fished worm over the top.. It was busy enough with a few decent crucians, a fair few bream and a carp that gave me the run around on lightish gear... managed 2 perch 1 around a pound the other just over 2lb..Nice day though..4 points

I'm with you brother, I keep saying it but its total madness how the hell can they expect the indigenous population to extend their working career when our services our being obliterated to pay for a shed load of freeloading immigrants and just accept it. Never claimed benefits in my life but I will swallow my pride and go down that route rather than slog may arse off until I'm 71.4 points

A young lad close to me got into all that dove release malarkey, bred, raised, trained them etc but lost some to Sparrowhawks and some just didnt come back......in the end he realised that going and buying a pair of doves for 25 quid and then getting paid 150 quid for releasing them was much easier....he didnt give a bollock if they ever came back or not he just went and bought another pair.....he caught on quick for a young kid4 points

The Wrens are prospecting around the dead hedges, few other species looking in as well, saw a peacock butterfly the other day, think I must have disturbed it from its hibernation as I was tidying an old goat willow, having some very warm days in mid Northumberland3 points

This country needs something along the lines of a general strike with clear demands on education, health services a robust immigration policy an overhaul of benefits system and anything else anyone can think of, we need to stop being told what they think is good for us3 points

Will I fcuk be working till I'm 71, this won't be the last pension age rise either it'll be 75 within the next 10 years.3 points
-
No money in the pot for pensions so talk of extending retirement age to 71 but £8 million a day spent on housing migrants! Oh and why were talking about migrants a Sudanese national has been arrested on suspicion of killing her 3 kids in Bristol.3 points

Thanks for that mate glad he's still doing what he lives for. He is one of those characters in life you meet that stays in your memory and the type you could spend hours in his company listening to his stories of his life.3 points

Never had beer made from it mate might give it a try, I just like teaching the grandkids there’s more to life than Tesco’s so much more goodness growing in the hedges without the chemical sprays, recon they will be ready to prep and eat some fresh bush meat by the winter, grandsons already picking up deer slots on our walks at 4 yo3 points

and here in is the fecking problem nothing will sort this as our leaders will use the full force of the law to stop anyone who dares to say or do anything to try and change this broken system.as for voting for someone else that is a fecking joke,as i have said before if voting made any difference we would not be allowed to do it.nothing short of a full reset will make any difference now.may aswell leave and go and live on poland now before it is too late.2 points

The sad part is, that’s exactly what the vast majority of those who bother to turn out will do !……we are going to have a whole year of folks discussing which of the two failed party's, who are exactly the same animal, is better !! Breaks me !2 points

Can anyone recall a wetter autumn/winter? Feels utterly never ending, I am sure we have had a wetter month or so (2000 floods?) but as a 6 month just been relentlessly wet. A forecast shows no real letup. I have royally had an enough of it. Bet there will still be hose pipe bans after 2 dry weeks in the summer though2 points

First real spring day today, lambs in the fields, noticeable rise in temp, flowers starting to bloom, saw bees about... Season be over in few weeks for me, I stop Sunday hunting around Patricks Day. Got 4 mixy rabbits in the cover, five rats from 3 marks and flushed lots of rabbits and birds. Tired dogs now at home in the kitchen. Terrier was going non stop, flushing catching bunnies and marking/digging/killing rats. Mixy is wiping out big numbers around this land but I did see a good few young uns so hopefully they've got immunity and still a good few about. Auld lurcher really showing h2 points
